Tape all the sides down to a piee of plywood, step lightly on the balls of your toes, and not flat footed, always in socks

I tried that once; it didn't work too well.

Here's what to do if you want to mod your pad well without a lot of time/effort:
1. Buy a 4'x4'x1/2" piece of Fir Plywood from Lowe's for $17.
2. Use a staple gun to staple the pad along the border onto the plywood.  If you don't have a strong enough staple gun, use 1/2" wire brads (small nails).

Feel free to build a PVC bar on the extra 12" of wood you'll have on the back.

Make sure your pad is flat when you're stapling it down.  I'd recommend putting books on top of it.  Also, the front of the pad should line up with the end of the plywood, especially if you're even conceivably going to make a bar for it.

When not in use, you can shove this under a couch or bed, or lean it against a wall.  It should only weigh about 5-15 pounds.

No problem!  If it doesn't work, there are lots of other mods you can do.  Just don't damage the sensors with the stapling!
