Personally, I like portland Tilt better than ACME simply because it facilitates a wider crowd of serious gamers. I get tired of people saying how "tilt sucks" because it has one rhythm game. To be honest, I was kinda bored when I was waiting to play stuff at ACME, it kinda lacks a fighting game scene :/ Do they not have machines because there is no immediate market for them at ACME? This is not a "BILL BUY DIS" topic. This is moreso a "huh?" topic. I guess there isn't really a fighting game scene in the ACME area?

Portland tilt lost CVS II but is still healthy: MvC2, 3s, KOF XI, KOF 2003, Tekken 5 DR, ITG 2 Initial D, MvC1, SFIII, Xmen vs. SF, SSIV, SvC (lol), SCII, SCIII. I think I'm forgetting a couple :x

I don't see Time Crisis on your list.
Don't they have, like, 1-3?
My dad's the one who pointed it out; I don't typically play first person shooters 'cause I like controlling where I walk AND where a I shoot. (yeah, I'm greedy). Also, where's SC3? I didn't see it when I went or I would have bummed an extra dollar off someone and played it.

They got rid of it like a month ago.

Lame. =(
I saw SC2, but I didn't care enough to bum money off someone. I'm not good enough for it to be fun at the arcade.

Funny to me to see this thread today. Only because we were having a conversation at our shop yesterday about this, "why the fighting games did not do weel at Acme". We yanked them due to being the lowest ranking earners at Acme. To make fighters succesful there, we need to pop in a brand new release, and see if we can steer the fighting game community there. So that is the plan, drop in Tekken 6 when first released, and also a MVC2 and an old 3rd strike to see if we can get something going there. Be ready for Acme to become a racing game hot spot. One of the regions first ID4 with real time around the world head to head racing will debut there in a couple months.

PLEASE GOD YES!
Before I started playing bemani games it was fighting games all the way. I'll tell you, the selection of fighters in the Seattle area is complete garbage. I've only been able to find one 3s machine, and I haven't seen any GG. Tekken and SC are much easier to find, but I'm not going to drive out of my way to play em. I'm a 3s man mesself.
BTW, there is a pretty substantial community for both 3s and GG in this area. I know of a group of around 15 guys that meet at least weekly to play 3s and GG, the whole lot of em are apparently practicing for EVO.
The only reason I stopped going to GW for 3s was frankly I wasn't good enough to compete with the regulars, which meant it got pretty expensive on regular nights. (>$30). On Thursdays during their $10/3hour deal, it was just too damn busy. Besides, GW has nothing to entertain me while I wait in line behind like 10 other guys for my next chance to get my ass handed to me in 30 seconds.
TokyoGameAction's got the right idea with their lineup... Man I miss the days when independant arcades actually flourished....

I feel sorry for you guys, arcades around here have a pretty good selection of anything, and we don't really have a problem with lines.. yet it's usually busy. Strange how that works.

I don't like fighting games, but I think any arcade manager would be foolish not to recognize how lucrative they can be.
A while ago someone said something about DDR not being as competition-heavy as fighting games, and I have to disagree. If it was someone from Portland, I'll assume that's because we NEVER HAVE TOURNAMENTS EVER and we should start.

Well, anytime freeplay is involved you can expect lines. It just sucks that the Seattle GW really has nothing else to play while you're waiting. Hell, I'd play F-Zero AX or Virtual On, but it seems like they've both been broken since I moved here almost two years ago.

Nah. For the purposes of player-to-player competition, I don't believe that dancing games work as well as fighting games.
The thing about fighting games is that you are truly playing against the other player. What you end up doing in the match is totally reliant on what your opponent is doing, and the number of possible character matchups gives fighting games more depth. There is not much in the way of mind games or anything like that with dancing games, that only extends to things like [depending on the tournament rules] picking a song that you think your opponent sucks at. Once the song starts, there's no more of that... it's just a test to see who can step on plastic arrows a little more accurately.
The other thing about fighting games is that when you get beaten, it gives you a chance to stop and think about what you did wrong, what you could have done differently to possibly win against the other guy. Again, there's none of that with DDR. The other problem I have, and this is more of a personal issue than anything else, is that when you hit that skill plateau, where you never seem to get better no matter how much you play... it almost seems pointless for you to enter a tournament when you know you have no chance of winning. With fighting games it's easier to make continual progress in your skill level, but that is usually dependent on having good competition to play against on a regular basis. You can't get really good unless you play against really good players.
