- ORIGINAL POST -
I just recently got back into IIDX due to Infinitas and getting a brand new DJ DAO FP7 controller (with Sanwa and 50g Omrons,
SO NICE
!) and I was wondering if there are any other PNW Infinitas players?
I'm mainly looking to find an active mutual rival!
I used to play a lot of IIDX back during the 9
th
Style era back when I was in high school and had more free time on my hands. So I've been trying to get back up to my old skill level. Right now I'm a
二段
(2-Dan) but I used to be able to pass Level 8s before I stopped playing.
Also, I live in Portland but next weekend I am taking a trip up to Seattle to spend a day at Round1 Southcenter! I am so freaking excited! Woo!

Oh hey, it's nice to see another BEMANI player in the Portland area. I'm 8-Dan now, though, so I doubt you want to compare scores with me right now (unless you want to). I haven't tried any DJ DAO controllers myself yet, but I do use Konami's official "premium model" controllers, which feel pretty nice the longer I play with them.

I play Infinitas from time to time. I'm at the 5-dan level (6-dan in AC, but I ain't touching the Infinitas course with freakin COLORS in there!), though my timing sucks
. I took a break myself awhile back (some time after EMPRESS came out on the PS2), and haven't managed to recover my skill from back then (I'd passed a few 10s, but the one I've tried that I used to pass, Beyond the Earth, handed me my ass on a silver platter).

Yeah, the DJ DAO FP7 is a very nice controller. I'm very pleased with it. For awhile I had been using my Konamistyle PS2 ASC with a USB adapter. That scratched the itch for awhile, but the adapter introduced too much lag. I looked to buy the Premium Style controller but no one was selling it at the time. So I went with the FP7 and it's been a night and day difference from the PS2 ASc controller.
I wouldn't mind adding either of you at all! 8-Dan is much further up than me, but it will give me something to work towards! Haha.
My Infinitas Code is: C4139-9036-4616 and my DJ name is kind of lame, it's just DJ James. Haha.
And yeah, in High School I was more obsessed with DDR and after school I would always be at Beaverton Wunderland, which was actually quite the Bemani paradise at the time and I'm sad that it's gone. I started there when they had a 4th Mix Plus machine that was eventually upgraded to Extreme. They also had GuitarFreaks and DanceManiax (which was
AWESOME
). I wish I had known where that Dance Maniax cab had gone, that game was awesome.

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread in awhile. I'm not on the oink thing, but the Sun one. My name is LOCIAN on that one if you happen to be. And I could send you an invite if you want to trade at all.

I wanted to ask you too, what do you play with on INFINITAS? I saw your TBIRD tag come up when I played at Round1 Southcenter back in June and it made me smile.

At the moment, I'm just using the keyboard. I had thought about getting the premium controller that Konami had, but I hesitated a bit too much on that and missed the window.

Try getting a DJ Dao! They're just as good if not better than the Konami controller and if you want you can even put Sanwas in them so they're just like the arcade.
DJ Dao's shipping used to be horrendous but they've recently stocked their US Store house so shipping isn't over $100 anymore!
https://www.gamo2.com/en/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=281
Right now they have lots of options for FP7s in the US Storehouse, I'd recommend the one with the 1C3 Omron microswitches.
https://www.gamo2.com/en/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=327
Those Omron microswitches are what they use in the arcade cabinets.
The stock DJ Dao buttons are great too, and really the only difference between Sanwas and the DJ Dao button is the sound the buttons make when press (Sanwa's have a 'cleaner' or 'crisper' hit). And Sanwa's are easy to procure from Rakuten and it's a bit cheaper than from DJ DAO. But they also sell FP7s with 1C3 Omron and Sanwas.
https://www.gamo2.com/en/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=328
When we first added each other as rivals I was using my circa 2002 Konamistyle ASC PS2 Controller with an adapter, and that sucked due to the timing fluctuations the adapter introduced.
Playing on the FP7 was a night and day difference, and feels just like playing on the Arcade. Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to ask, I've ordered two controllers from DJ DAO (IIDX and SDVX) and they've been amazing each time.

Well now is your chance!! Konamistyle just announced that they're doing another run of controllers!
https://twitter.com/konamistyle/status/895466473019236353
It looks like it will be like last time, they're going to do one production run if they get enough orders.
I'm on the fence. I have a DJ DAO Premium Edition, complete with Sanwas and Omrons (which the Infinitas controller doesn't have). On the other hand it does just look cool! Argh!!
But regardless of that, lately it seems Konami is committed to revamping INFINITAS, especially after the Lincle and Championship revival. Maybe with SDVX joining e-Amusement Cloud people are interested again?

Had a couple questions as I haven't been following the home bemani scene in a while. Is there a leak of a PC dump of IIDX Sinobuz floating around out there? I have the Copula dump working from a while back and saw this thread discussing controllers for PC so figured maybe people were playing a PC dump of Sinobuz at home as well.
Also, I notice people mentioning the site also selling controllers for SDVX - what are people playing at home using this controller with - is it for SDVX emulator or is there an actual dump of the arcade machine for that too?

Yes there is a version of Sinobuz out there, but it isn't the 'full' release. It's an upgrade to Copula. So you have to have the Copula data and then you extract the Sinobuz upgrade files to the Copula folder. It's available on Nyaa as a torrent (it's a torrent with every HDD rip, so just download what you need).
As for SDVX, there is emulation. The most popular version is K-Shoot Mania (
http://www.kshootmania.com
). But also there is arcade rips for SDVX III Gravity Wars (available on Nyaa too).
But legitimately Konami recently released a SDVX e-Amusement cloud version just like Infinitas for PC. They even released and sold their own Konamistyle controller for it. This is the version I play, and it works with DJ Dao's SDVX controller too.
The website for the e-Amusement cloud version is at
https://p.eagate.573.jp/game/eacsdvx/iii/p/common/top.html
and Bemanistyle has a guide to get you up to speed (
https://www.bemanistyle.com/2017/05/12/sound-voltex-iii-pc-version-eamusement-cloud-guide/
).
It's still technically in 'beta' but it's a fully fledged game and you have to pay to play it. The payment system is different than Infinitas where you buy tickets to play (kind of like playing in the arcade, where the tickets act like credits) instead of a monthly subscription. Although recently they introduced a monthly subscription too I think.
Anyway, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask. I mainly play Infinitas and SDVX cloud because I like supporting the makers of the games. But I've also dabbled in HDD, because Infinitas is a bit limiting.

Thanks for the tips. I found a large torrent on one of the "new" Nyaa sites labeled "Bemani/Touhou collection" - around 570 GB total size - was this what u were referring to?

Resort Anthem songs started being added a year ago, so it's not of much surprise that Lincle songs are being added now. Championship Mode runs have only been done around special events, and I think they decided to do one around the Lincle song release as well (when Resort Anthem songs started being added, the entire set of songs for that month was from there, but this wasn't the case with the Lincle addition).
Also, I've got Play Asia set to notify me if they get more of the controller in, but I haven't gotten an email yet (and I just checked the site as well). If they were planning on getting some of the controllers, they might be waiting for confirmation that the controller will actually be produced first. Looking at the details, the revised version of the controller sounds pretty nice (if only for the detachable USB cable, at least, my US KOC PS2 controller is pretty much dead because of wiring issues).

Yeah, so it looks like they hit the preorder amount for the next batch of controllers. They basically wait for a certain amount of orders before they make them. That goes for all the Konamistyle controllers. So places like Play-Asia probably won't be getting a lot of them in. Your best bet is Amazon.co.jp or eBay or other auction sites.
Is there any reason you want that specific controller? They don't even have Sanwa buttons or Omron Microswitches. When
bemanistyle took apart theirs
they said the case was made well and solid, but they buttons and switches were the cheapest kind. It's also extremely expensive for what it is. Is it just because it's 'official'? I'm just wondering what the appeal is.

I'm still bemused that Southcenter is considered Seattle, I feel like Tukwila would be more accurate.
Note that no arcade in the US (that I know of) has a PopN later than 20, since later versions require eAmusement access, and even Round1 doesn't have that for PopN.

I think that it's only people NOT from Seattle that refer to it this way. Seattle and Tukwilla are about 25 minutes apart without traffic. I live closer to Everett than Seattle and while a drive to Seattle is annoying, driving all the way down to Tukwila is far worse.
But there's also the opposite problem when you have locals referring to places like everyone know's where they are (and only people who live there know wtf their talking about). I hated it when I first moved here and people spoke of Ballard, Queen Anne and SoDo like it was so obvious where each is. If you don't live or deal with Seattle a lot, then it's just code speak.

I mean I'm in Portland so it's about the same amount of driving. Haha. But I guess it's like the difference between Portland to Beaverton or Gresham for example. Pretty similar geographic area and since Portland is bigger/more well known Beaverton or Gresham get assimilated into the Portland umbrella!
But back to INFINITAS... has anyone bought the ridiculously expensive Lincle song packs? I bought the first because there were actually some songs I really love, and it was only about $47.16. Which was still expensive on top of the monthly subscription but it was still slightly more feasible as it came out to about $1.80 USD per song. But the second one increasing the price by another 1000円 ($9.47) was just too much for me. Plus there were less songs that I liked. But, Konami is making it
REALLY
hard to want to support their home releases and to not jump ship for either LR2 or something more illicit, which I really don't want to do. So Konami, please pick one or the other. Either have us buy song packs which cost roughly the amount of a IIDX PS2 home release every 6th months or so OR have the monthly subscription. The song packs are also nice because you don't have to grind out BITs to unlock every chart.
But in other IIDX news I'm super excited to try out Cannon Ballers next week! I'm driving up on March 6th just to play Bemani games, so I'm super SUPER excited! The last time I was up at Round1 was June 2017 so it's been a handful of months!

I actually stopped playing entirely not long after the first song pack released. Sure, the second pack also has the KAC songs, but they don't get me excited enough to come back to the game even if the songs are from recent styles.
Speaking of KAC, I'm not sure why the KAC songs have to be bundled in with this pack rather than be in a separate championship course or something like that either.

I've been off and on with my subscription lately (currently off). I've been using an external keyboard with my laptop lately that mostly works with INFINITAS, but there's a few key combinations that it won't do (the internal keyboard doesn't have the issue, but I have my laptop at an awkward position these days to use it a lot of the time). Might pick up a controller at some point, though I've been off contract the past couple months, so can't really justify a big purchase during that.
I've played some songs from the second pack because they appeared under the rival challenge (I'm still surprised the game allows this).

Hey shinhito, sort of revisiting an older topic but had a few questions regarding the Dj Dao FP7 controller you have as I'm thinking of ordering one myself. Is the best, most arcade-authentic configuration to get Sanwa buttons and Omron D2MV-01-1C3 switches (listed on their site)?
Also, you mentioned you also play the HDD rips on PC too - does the FP7 work fine with those too (i.e. buttons/wheel can all be configured without issue)?
I still have a bunch of IIDX games on PS2 as well - this controller is for both PS2 and PC?
Thanks again for info.

Sorry it's been awhile since I've checked this page. You've probably already found your answers but just incase you haven't...
Yes Sanwas are the same buttons used in the arcades. The most difference with those buttons isn't about accuracy or anything but really about the sound they make when you hit them. The DAO buttons are more 'dull' and Sanwas are more 'sharp'. Omron microswitches are also the ones used in IIDX machines (as well as other Bemani games with buttons). The 1C3 is a fine weight, but it will really matter what spring weight you pick. My favorite setup is 50g microswitch and 20g spring. But some people prefer 25g microswitch and 60g spring. You can buy different spring weights as well from DJ DAO/Gamo2 or from Sanwa themselves via Rakuten.
The FP7 works fine with INFINITAS as well as LR2, HDDs, and it also has a PS2 port to use as a PS2 controller.
I hope that answered all your questions! If you also play INFINITAS feel free to Rival me!

Thanks for the response
I actually ordered the EZMAX controller for PS4/PC (with 50g Sanwa option) (
http://www.dj-dao.com/
) a few weeks ago and they expect to have my order shipped mid-May so hopefully I'll be getting that soon. I play DJMax Respect and Diva Future Tone on PS4 as well so seemed like a good option and the controller has support for a bunch of stuff on PC (Infinitas, SDVX, etc) as well as keyboard mode so I'm guessing will work with almost anything on PC. I'll probably get a PS4>PS2 adapter as well to use it on older games on PS2. Reviews from ppl who have it so far seem very positive.
