Yup, that's right!! First Distorted machine in Canada, yay!!  Basically, the only reason we have Happy Sky here (at E-spot) is because of a funky dude named Landon who bought it on YAJ and then installed it for us.  Long story short, he's living in Japan at the moment so he will be buying Distorted and shipping it here very soon!! I can't wait!!  Hope you all can make a trip up for it =]

OMG UPDATE! (March 20)

The Tragedy!!

So basically, Landon had DD a while ago.. but he was waiting for all the acoutrement before he sent it!!  It's on the way now =]

YIPEE!!

Richmond drivers suck.

Pulled this from ITGFreak, about like 4 months ago.

kevinddr2000 (8:27:05 PM): my dad like changed lanes, accidentally cut this guy off
kevinddr2000 (8:27:10 PM): who was driving a hearse
kevinddr2000 (8:27:15 PM): and he started yelling at us
kevinddr2000 (8:27:19 PM): WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING,EH
kevinddr2000 (8:27:23 PM): I'M GONNA FUCK YOU UP
kevinddr2000 (8:27:32 PM): YOU'RE DEAD
kevinddr2000 (8:27:38 PM): I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU
evinddr2000 (8:27:52 PM): then he jumped out of the hearse, and ran to our car
kevinddr2000 (8:27:55 PM): and pounded on the window
kevinddr2000 (8:27:58 PM): and yelled
kevinddr2000 (8:28:05 PM): I'M GONNA FUCKING STAB YOU RIGHT NOW
kevinddr2000 (8:28:10 PM): YOU MOTHERFUCKERS
kevinddr2000 (8:28:17 PM): and pulled the door open
kevinddr2000 (8:28:20 PM): but my dad sped away

Richmond BC, we don't fuck around. Cheesy

xD

Portland drivers suck too, but it's more along the lines of them all being stoned or insane.
Portland's the biggest hippy town in the US, man.  There might be some contenders in California, like San Fran, but I guarantee they aren't as stoned as Po.
We also closed down all our mental wards a while ago 'cause taxes couldn't pay for them, so we've got lots of psychos runnin' around.

Tada: I always tell the border it's a day trip to play video games. ::shrug:: E-spot is, quite literally, three turns off the main highway and that includes turning into the arcade parking lot :P. Getting to metrotown can be confusing (mapquest-like sites typically get the directions wrong), but the main places you want to go to are rather easy.

I want to reply to som any random things :p

First and foremost, I'm making a trip as soon as I can (even though I'm going to play GOLD in 3 weeks :O

I didn't know E-spot people own the machines in CHQ.  No wonder the selection is very similar.

Quote from: "metroid23"
edit: oh, and speaking of bad drivers. RICHMOND, B.C. ANYONE?

Also north vancouver.  Just that whole area -- I've never spent a day in the Van metropolitan area without seeing a totaled vehicle.  I was almost one of them, on multiple occasions D=
The closest of these stories goes like this:
I was waiting for a light at an intersection.  It turned green.  I started to go.  I saw a flash of light.  I stopped because I freaked out.  A car crossed the cross street going about 50 or 60mph.  He didn't even consider stopping at the light, he even made sure to warn us that he was coming Smiley  I hate driving in Richmond Sad
The truck exit to Canada is kinda off I-5, right?  I need to check it out.

Kevin> when did you think the keys were stiff?  Every time I went, they felt super loose, but maybe they changed things since the last time I went (which was... last summer I think)

oh and to add to the border thing -- no need to lie.  They didn't even give a shit when they asked us whose car we were in and Davyn said "uhhh... my grandfathers" (which is true).  They don't care if you tell them you all met on the internet :p  It's just best to avoid possible headache and be truthful.  Lying is probably a felony.

To get to E-Spot -- stay on the highway until the westminster highway exit -- turn left onto it.  After a while, turn right onto No.3 road.  After a while turn left onto Alderbridge(? I forgot).  Immediately turn right.  You're there.  It's kind of hidden in an alley, but you probably won't get lost finding it.

James: I always took the airport exit (right after the large hotel that has KIDS STAY FREE on the outside in gigantic letters. I think it's #38) and then make a left at the light. Go to No.3 road and turn left. Then look for the Blue pet store on your left after Yaohan and THE E-SPOT SIGN, turn in. I didn't even realize they had a "front entrance" until this year.

Oh, and I love blinking greens. Haha.

Zeppy: If you don't care, don't post.

Yea.. both the entrances are kind of "hidden", and theres not really a main sign visible right on the road.  Theres one entrance beside the main entrance to Petcetera, and the other entrance is behind Sportmart close to the Izumi-ya Japanese Supermarket (awesome place btw).  The easiest way to get there if your totally oblivous would be to meet in at Lansdowne mall (in the parking lot or whatever) and we could just go there like that.  Come soon!!!

PROTIP: If you're going to stay overnight, the La Quinta Inn is about 2 blocks away from Lansdowne Mall, which is consequently a block away from e-spot.

Protip: If you guys are coming for a whole day.  We could do like a little tour or something.  Hit up E-spot, maybe check out RPM, grab some good food to eat, and then head back to E-spot for more.  Sounds good!

I'm not saying I "DON'T CARE", but the drive is a little too long to play distorted. Don't make erroneous assumptions based upon a 4 word statement. I only said not worth the trip.

Zeppy: No one cares. If you're not interested or it's "not worth the trip" and that's all you're going to say, then leave your worthless opinion out of the thread. Of course, juding by your response, you only did it to troll the thread in the first place. Do us all a favor and stay out if you have nothing to contribute.

Colin: Any news on when Distorted might show up? Sounds like there's a thread full of people wanting to go :)

Go back to itg freak if you don't like my opinion. I don't think you are some divine judge of post quality. If it was trolling you should have just ignored it since you're such a big grown up guy and all. You're last post constituted meta-trolling, so don't act like you're totally innocent, blah thisis so dumb lo.l.

If you want to state an opinion, why don't you post what you did the second time, the first time?  It'll save everyone a headache at 10 seconds of your cost.

Part of this forum's objective is to maintain integrity and sanity.  You're the one that should go back to ITGfreak if you're going to actively try to be counterproductive to those goals.

Zeppy, the lack of grammar and punctuation doesn't help you convey what you're trying to say. Met's assumption was correct, but Met, (referring to your 2nd reply) next time let one of the mods take care of it.
James is right in saying that if Zeppy took 10 more seconds to make a post with real content instead of something that can be taken the wrong way and lacked common rules of English, the problem wouldn't have happened and the post would have sounded intelligent.

But like I said earlier, back on topic now.

Landon's busy with his new job and playing GOLD etc. etc. so he hasn't been on msn much, i'll fire him an e-mail seeing when he should be buying Distorted, should be soon though!  Even so, we do have Happy Sky right now which is pretty cool =]

I have reasons far more important than IIDX to go to Canada, this just makes the trip a little more worthwhile.

P.S. my mom wants to go to Canada for spring break. Cheesy

I can't post there, which is why i said he should go there if he doesn't want to hear me (just pointing out rationale for why I said that).

Almost 100% sure I'm going.  It's probably going to be a Saturday, or maybe I'll stay at the hotel overnight and make it a weekend.  Think the DD will be in by mid-March?

That sound, honestly, is kinda frightening to me.
I haven't gone to van city in a long time anyway, I want to browse metrotown again, even though I never actually buy anything.  Too bad the canadian dollar is strong (US dollar weak?), because back in the IIDX red days, you could play for US 0.70 or so.  Oh, it's going to be 2/cred, isn't it?  Oh well, it's worth it to me Smiley

I like to think of them as Canadian Arcade tokens. You can use their "loonies" to play IIDX and then walk across the street and buy a burger! :D

Whenever I go to E-spot I drop in two twenties and walk around with my little pouch (it's actually a coin pouch in the shape of the piggy Monokuro Boo~) stuffed with loonies.  You can use them everywhere.  I never understood why the USA doesn't use 1$ coins.. fumbling with bills at a vending machine is difficult.. but then again your sodas are only like 50cents so yeah.. Edit:  Sorry, I'm not sure when it's going to get here.. but maybe not that soon.. since I don't think he's bought it yet and shipping is at least 2 weeks.. unless it comes by priority which is 4 days.

I don't know... maybe it's because notes are lighter than coins?  I doubt arcade gamers ever were the US Mint's priority.  We tried dollar coins with the Sacajawea dollars, but apparently people just don't like them.
