Interesting read, and rather obvious. It peaked with GH 2 and GH 3 and has been steadily loosing steam ever since. It doesn't help that they over saturated the market just like Konami did after '05.

Yeah, it's pretty bogus considering I kept getting misses and couldn't even tell why. A half note I'd say is the median, of course it's not consistent. I guess it's kinda like Max 2: the timing windows seem small because everything is so fucking offsync.

what, how many songs were off in MAX2? I know My Summer Love and Look At Us had the wrong BPM's or something, but it didn't really feel like there were all that many songs that were off sync. MAX2 has the same timing windows as everything else.

Agreed. This is my preferred game to play when I go to Acme, and I don't really think many songs are off-beat. Perhaps a total of 15 could be arguably "off-beat" in the entire mix.

Yeah, there were about 15 songs with unnaceptable syncing (near unplayable sync) and the rest seemed off to varying degrees, some not so bad. It has many more songs that are "unplayable" off than many other mixes. I'm not going to use this in an argument (haven't played MAX 2 in a while) but I believe quite a few songs had sync that drifted as well.
I'm not exactly sure which argument you're trying to address here.  I do agree that ITG2's high standards killed DDR, but I'm unsure what that proves against my claims.
Your point made the problem sound isolated, as if DDR died on its own. And I don't see why it wouldn't be too late for GH to introduce quality (it hasn't stopped doing so, lol).  GH Metallica (the most recent game) was met with universal acclaim. GH Arcade was a rushed anomaly in the track record of an excellent series for casual players. And I brought in the final fantasy point because it was unclear as to if you were implying there was a correlation between age and popularity.

Okay, I found the point you were addressing:
Like with DDR, it's too late in the game's popularity for quality to make money.  It's the same issue with when I talked to Art about getting ITG2.  Ground Kontrol caters to people who are going to get wasted and recognize the DDR brand name, not come every day to play the best game available, so quality isn't going to make enough money to justify the opportunity costs.

Yes, I'd agree with your points that it's never too late in a series' lifetime to make improvements in quality.  My assertion here doesn't seem very well thought-out.  I'm going to attribute it to unclear thinking due to the heat/lack of sleep.
