I know I said that song suggestions were closed, but I just stumbled upon a much more approachable and chiller remix of Tsugihagi Construction
Tsugihagi is easily one of my favorite songs from Rebirth 2, we really don't have a lot of remixes of older ITG songs so it wouldn't seem like pure laziness, and it's still fun and high energy (it's still like 190ish BPM as opposed to the blitzingly fast 240 BPM of the original)
I'll be the first person to say that the ending of this remix is quite annoying, but seeing as it's 3:17, I can and would easily cut it down to an appropriate ITG length while still giving it a logical ending place song structure wise.
So, even though I said song suggestions are closed, would anyone begrudge me this last one? It would put us at an even 130
Pft, you're the one in charge (I think). Do what you want.

Hello! I labored over this list a bit and would absolutely love it if people took the time to fill it out, copy and paste these into either a PM on this website on email me a filled out copy to
tyrannous@gmail.com
This is the first stage to editing down the track list. Not voting for something does not guarantee it won't be on the final song list just as voting for something won't guarantee it will be on the final song list. These will more provide numbers and concepts for me to work with. This way I can see if some songs are popular than others or if there are a few songs that can be weeded out earlier. In later stages we will specifically be talking about gameplay, but for now, just pick the songs you like the most.
PICK 10 SONGS IN EACH CATEGORY OF 13 BY FILLING AN "X" INTO THE BRACKET TO THE LEFT OF EACH SONG. NOTHING IS FINAL RIGHT NOW, SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE RESULTS, JUST GO FOR YOUR GUT INSTINCT ON WHAT YOU LIKE BEST.

OK, I know this is gonna be a pain in the ass, but could you link the song to a youtube video for super-quick referencing? That'd make things a LOT easier and you'd probably get a lot more people participating.

I could do that tomorrow, but that'll take at least an hour, and I'm booked all night until 2 am. So, if you absolutely need to hear the songs (which is a great idea btw to be "informed voters"), I'll have links available tomorrow. You can still self research today if you wish, God knows I did =) They're in tempo order btw.

Mmkay, I've done a little bit of editing myself and have taken the list from 130 songs to 110. I was respectable to everyone and MOST of what I cut was my own suggestions, and a few others were cut for the massive amounts of profanity or (admittedly subjectively) already large representation of that artist/style. I realize that expecting everyone to know every single song is difficult and picking 10 of 13 like the previous model was asking a lot of time and thought from everyone. Let's see, instead, how THIS works out. Of this next groups, which I will label stylistically, pick 1, yes only 1, song that you DON'T like. I am interested in weeding out the songs that nobody is interested in as I find that will be easier than determining moderate interest verse good interest.
Mmkay, of each group, pick 1 song you DO NOT want in the final song list. PM me or email it to

I haven't had internet for a bit and apologize for my absence.
After looking over all the suggestions, all the data, all the songs people passionately like AND the ones that people passionately hate, I have, with help from others looking at/contributing data as well, come up with a rough draft soundtrack. This is not necessarily final, but it IS cut down to a somewhat reasonable pack length of 80 songs. From here I assume that we can cut 0 to 10 songs based on if songs don't feel right in the pack, etc.
Let me know if anyone is still interested in the actual step chart making, but we are currently moving in to Phase 2, which is possible the least fun phase. Cut & sync phase.
If anyone wants to help with cutting and syncing to get these songs to 2(ish) minutes [(No less than 1:40 and no more than 2:30)], that would be awesome. I will be cutting and syncing a lot of songs in the meantime, so I might appear somewhat MIA. Feel free to contact me though as I will still check the site.

I'm game for that. I'm always bitchin' about how people need to cut the songs down more. Booo to the 4 minute songs.
I must confess, I've been so busy over the last three months that I just can't see myself offering much help at this point in time. However, when you DO start this process, let me know. I would love to help however or whener I can.
Btw, I (we) kind of need your list so we know what songs to cut that haven't been done already.

I have edited the first post again with Phase 2 oriented directions and will continue to edit that post to show progress.
I have good software to cut songs and a good ear for this sort of thing so I'll be doing as many of the song cuts as my free time will permit, but I somewhat LOATHE syncing, so while I will do it, I will mostly be busy cutting songs in this phase.
Have a great weekend guys! Hopefully by Monday I'll have turned some more of those songs blue

Don't forget that I wrote a chart for Romeo's Dead. Personally, I think it's my second best chart after Stamp. So, you could consider it synced and read if you like my steps.

Good point, forgot about that one. I'm not thinking about steps right now and there may or may not be editing, but it should probably be fine. Cut and sync wise it definitely passes Phase 2.
Some songs obviously have famous charts already or even local community charts like Keby's Boulafacet, but I marked them blue instead of green. I didn't mark Boulafacet because I at least want an 85 BPM slowdown in the middle, and I might consult Keby, and anyone else interested in chart quality, about possibly putting in some shudder gimmicks like other Nightmare songs, but I know he intentionally wrote his SPERGIN 2 chart without them. I would like to talk about pros and cons specifically about that chart gimmick wise whether we should leave it that way or not, but either way, I would like the 85 BPM slowdown. I think the song really calls for it.
I also want A Kidney Stone to alternate between 105 BPM and 210 BPM more than the current chart(s). The song has two very distinct rhymthic beats in my opinion between the two tempos even if the synth is fast across the board, and they come in full 16 measure sections most of the time so it's not like it would feel to contrived or gimmicky.
Lastly, I want Bait to read at 390 BPM in the sections with the fast and loud percussion and 195 BPM in every other section. Most people would probably sync it 195 across the board, but that song is so relentless and driving in it's lawl speed core roots that I think the 390 makes more sense, especially because the bass drum hits every 6.5 times a second (390 bpm). It would feel a lot more like Epileptic Crisis only WITHOUT the hard to read shutter gimmicks.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of too many other non obvious sync/tempo choices I would like. I don't need every chart to have tempo changes and I don't need everything to have a gimmick, but I don't necessarily want to avoid them at all costs either.

I'm gathering up Mp3's at the moment and seem to be getting most of them without too much problem. It's really exciting seeing them all in one folder. I can't seem to get a good Mp3 copy of "Carribbean Blue" - Bambee at the moment and I'm sure there will be others later. Anyone have a clean Mp3 of this, not just poorly ripped off of Youtube or something?

Hey guys! So, in case people were wondering, I did NOT can this project, it's just taken a long time to cut songs into game length and I've been busy with some other stuff. Without further ado, I'd like to make some exciting announcements!.
1.) The song list is finalized! I will still consider input if there are songs that you absolutely must have/want to veto, but I'm going to try to keep it to this so that we can move on with the project. (Disclaimer: There are more pop songs in this mix than most ITG mixes. This is intentional. I'm trying to bring more people in to playing this mix. You're not forced to play them)
2.) I have settled on the new ITG Supreme. DDR Extreme was one of my favorite dance games ever, and I feel that the name was less clunky than Supernova or simply naming it by it's mix number, so I named the ITG mix similarly to capture that timeless feel.
3.) While I have successfully cut these songs down to wish minutes (Trust me, you'll be happy with the cuts. Perfectly synced, all the good parts, flows naturally), I have not made the vast majority into a synced, blank simfile. It will take a LONG time for me to make 80 synced, blank simfiles for us to start making stepcharts on, so I would ask people to help me with setting those up. I have made it easy by putting the BPM of each song in the names of every music file. You're welcome!
4.) We all know what happens after the synced, blank simfiles are setup....the fun part! MAKING THE STEPCHARTS YAY!!! I would like a list of volunteers for step chart making. PM me what difficulties you are interested in stepping, songs, and whether you are comfortable stepping double. Eventually we WILL get all of these songs with all the charts made, but I want as much as possible to have people write charts for songs they love and difficulties and modes they are comfortable writing in. I know it might seem a hassle to PM me, but I don't want 4 people working on one song's expert chart while 3 other songs are neglected.
5.) Lastly, we need art! Throwing together a background and banner for one song isn't too hard for a simile or two, but this is 80. That's a bit larger of a task. Just like the step chart artists, I would like people to PM me about what songs they want to make banners/backgrounds for. Feel free to make art whether you're stepping songs or not, the more involved in this project the better. I would LOVE to have a true PNW ITG mix, and that's exactly what I'm trying to do.
This mix won't be done for a while, and I know that, but don't lose hope. After step charts comes testing and final sync, and after that.....it's done. I really, REALLY want this project to come together, and I know if enough people are interested not only will it come together, but it will be the next great mix. I want this to feel like ITG 4, or ITG Rebirth 3....and I know we can do a SUPREME job.

If I get some free time, I would love to help sync/step, but I'm finding it tough just to get to my own songs that I'm working on.

I was thinking about helping out too with stepping some charts.
What's the whole process for stepping the charts? Like, do we just step it however we want it to be or is there a specific theme to it (I.e technical, speed, stamina, etc.) that we think about first then assign to people?

That's awesome and I totally get that you're busy. I would ask for you to do make a synced file for Ancient Groover because you're the only one with your original cut. I have a cut of my own that I linked in the original post, but as you probably know this song better than anyone I think you should determine which cut you wish to use. No one else really has the luxury of having options for that song. If you do end up using your original cut, send it my way so I can amend the song list.
@Keby Cool beans! If you could set up files for all of the songs starting with the letter "A" except for Ancient Groover, that would be very much appreciated, if not let me know.
@NSX We definitely want steppers involved, the more the merrier. As far as the process goes, it's important for me to get a blank synced file of a song done before any charts for that song are made. This ensures that all 9 difficulties (Novice-Expert on Single, Easy - Expert on Double) are to the same song cut, tempo, sync, speed changes, stops, etc. Once we've gotten that done for a song (I don't necessarily see a point waiting for all 80 to be done, so I guess it goes by individual song basis) people can volunteer to write charts for that song. I'm still working on a system to have everyone who wants to write charts write ones for the songs they like without having people write 6 expert charts for the same song, but I'll work out a system soon enough that every specific chart for a song is handled by one person so we don't get too much unneeded overlap.
As far as how a song should be stepped, I say the step artist should use their best judgement. I don't want to tell you how to step individual songs, what rating they should be, or whether a song should be fast, stamina intensive, or have odd footwork. Instead, I want the stepper to really listen to the song and make a chart that really goes with the music and is appropriate to the specific difficulty they are stepping.
In short, Caribbean Blue should not be a 14 and Bait should not be a 9, but I won't tell you exactly how to step specific songs.

Yeah, Ancient Groover is one of those that's I'm ~60% thru on the Expert chart. Once I get it done, I'll be sure to share it with ya.

I'd love to support this in some way. Not sure if I can volunteer much for the next month, but down the line I could try creating some charts from the list if someone else can assist with syncing (sync seems to be particularly hit/miss for me, going from SMO to arcade, though I've read tutorials).
