The past months have been a great excitement for Chris Foy and myself.  As you may have seen from various “hints”, we are hard at work on a brand new video game project.  Several of you may be familiar with our involvement in past projects such as:  In The Groove series, Pump It Up Pro1,  iDANCE2  and others.  You (the players) have kept us going over the years and we are excited to reveal our new creation to you very soon.  We are still quite some time from completion, but we won’t keep you in the dark!

Why is it so cool? : ReRave is absolutely a first of it’s kind.  After all the years that we’ve been involved with  interactive reaction games, this new concept is very evolutionary.  We’ve learned A LOT about reaction games over the years and you (the players) will also be the ones to experience our evolution.

What  is it?  What will be for?  : This is a brand new series of products that will be a first of  it’s kind.  What does that mean?  It is PATENT PENDING and has been through months of legal research.  We’ve done our homework from the start and you will see why!

Is it Stepmania based? : No, ReRave doesn’t contain a single element from the stepmania engine.  It is being constructed from scratch!

More information is on the way, but for now:  Have a look at our TRADEMARK located here.  We look forward to providing players with something new by strengthening the community and providing tournaments & events in the future.

Not sure what it is yet, but consider me excited.

I dislike Kyle's Facebook theme for the blog.
As for the game, we need more details.

I am mixed. On one hand, I'm really excited about the potential of having a cool new game to play; on the other, I love the current "formula" for dance games with the arrows and panels and all that jazz, so I hope that I can get myself used to a new kind of dance game. Tongue

Well there you go.  It's an amusement apparatus!

Wait...  Amusement apparel, adapted for computer games?  Apparel as in clothing?

So its like, special shoes that you put on with sensors in them that detect where you move your feet?  That could be cool.

He's since commented saying no arrows will be involved....
Bad luck, but I'm still very interested to see what comes of this. Could be the next gaming sensation, you never know Smiley

Interesting. I'm intrigued by this, but still not sure how I'll react. Like Laura, I enjoy the more rigid gameplay structure of ITG/DDR/PiU, but something new is always welcome.

I hope this means it'll start involving our whole body instead just our legs.
Finally.....

Leg movement is optional in that game.

If you're not moving your legs, you're doing the dances wrong. :O

I find the opposite, hand motions are optional. I only played PPP kicking the sensors (kicking in the air), and not using my hands at all. Way more of a challenge. Tongue

You guys are doing it wrong! You're supposed to "dance" and look sexy while you play the charts, like this!

Here's a video of Kyle and Chris showing off a VERY early build of ReRave. Looks like it's Elite Beat Agents with your feet. Definitely looks interesting and I'm curious to see where this is heading.

Definitely looks like EBA. Not that it's bad, but it's not super original from what is looks like right now.

ITG is to DDR as Re:Rave is (almost) to Elite Beat Agents.

I would argue
Dance Central and ReRave is to Dance Games
as ITG is to DDR.

I love the joke they throw at bracketing.

The video showed a VERY small part of the game play.  The method of display and the game mechanics not yet revealed will show how different this is from other games.  Stay tuned as we slowly reveal more over time. Smiley

Bemanistyle has posted some more videos of the updates to this. Expect to hear some more about the game here soon as the launch date approaches. Smiley

Also I have replaced the Google ad on the top with a ReRave banner. The song list looks promising, as over 50% of it is not made by the same person!
