Really want to play this.  If anybody has a controller they are willing to sell or trade then tell me please

I might be willing to give up my Oxygen 8 (25-key), but I'm not 100% sure it'll work.  It plugs in either USB or standard MIDI (so it should work for DoReMi), but I'm not certain it's big enough.  I have a 61-key MIDI, but I require it for everyday survival.

What I'd trade for my 25-key:
-a good Beatmania controller (I'd throw in my BMUS unmodded controller too in exchange for a working Desktop Arcade IIDX controller)
-a modded PS2 (might be a bad trade on your part)
-anything to help me get Dancing Tofu Gaming off the ground (currently, we're just building DDR pads, but don't have enough money to complete the prototypes)

I'd throw in it's USB cable too, but you might need to get a standard MIDI plug for it; I don't know.  The Driver's also a given. (the driver's in it's original case too, and while the case is battered as hell, the driver CD is in perfect condition.)

This is assuming we'd be able to get together and make the exchange and that it would work for what you want.  I'm kind of asking a high price compared to the value of this thing because it WAS a gift, so you might do better just picking something up on sale at Guitar Center or something.

hmm maybe... i have played doremi mania a few times but never really had fun due to the insane difficulty level of most stuff...  if you live in portland then it would be hard to do a trade or sale :/

found out about the Yamaha EZ-250i that come bundled with Keyboardmania PC... almost 200 bucks after shipping though :C

If you want to play the PC ver, you'll need a midi compatible controller along with yamaha's MIDI -> USB convertor. This is the only way you will 100% guarantee KBM PC working on a computer. KBM ASC's only work under 98 / DoReMi Mania. REPEAT: YOU CANNOT USE A KBM ASC FOR KBM PC. I HAVE TRIED THIS MANY A TIME. Oh, and if you're running anything after win 98 SE, forget about any kind of KBM ASC use whatsoever. It remaps the controller automatically as a 32 button HID w/ 2 hat switches, where areas 98 maps as a 32 button joystick. 98 SE does have a get around for KBM PC but it requires some tooling with Joy2MIDI then you remap the MIDI through a Virtual UsB Device emulating Yamaha's Drivers. Then you mess around with the mappings for hours to get each key to not lag. So just buy a Midi controller / some MIDI -> USB adapter and pray it works.

P.S. If you have access to KBM nearby, play it before you buy. I would not recommend buying this game unless you have a ton of patience/ know you will commit to the game/ find it fun. To be honest, the initial learning curve is hard, then it gets really easy. Then if you try to play some of the seriously challenging concerto charts, a whole new shift of difficulty will hit you (I can't overcome it). It's a very frustrating game overall, but only when you start playing and when/ if you choose to delve into the second layer of difficulty (MIDI Concerto vers. of KBM songs, other charts.) Off the top of my head, I think maybe 5 or 6 have been passed. Stuff like Three Worms Concerto is most likely not doable.
Pretty much the tiering of KBM 24k charts goes as following (terms of relative difficulty). This does not mean the ten most difficult charts, but charts representing each leap in difficulty.
1- Three Worms [c]
2- Frozen Ray [c]
3- The Least 333 [a]
4- One Least Concerto [aE]
5- Carezza [a]
6- A [r]
7- Rough Edge , XVIIVIX [l]
8- Sensation [r]
9- ee-al-k [r]
10- Mighty Guy [rE]

I guess that would kind of be a way to Show how difficulty is really unbalanced / skyrockets after tier 7.

PPS: anyone know who bought that KBM ARC machine in WA? I have money burning a hole in my pocket.

Well, I suppose I'll have to talk to him about it (that's assuming he doesn't want it / is willing to part with it / willing to talk with me about the sale (my fault not his)).

Hey, zeppy, would the keyboard I have work via the USB cable?  I don't want to be offering to trade an item that wouldn't work for the intended purpose. ;P

Also, I've been wanting to pick up a keytar for a long time, would that work too? =D
I don't have the money for one now, but I plan on getting one when I have the money to get a good one.

Good ones do. =)

If that's all it needs that wouldn't be on just every Keytar, I'm sure I can find one.

Actually it doesn't. The PC ver. doesn't employ any wheel use. DoReMi does, but you can disable it. Same with the PS2 vers.

Drop by my krib yo. It disqualifies you from getting a high score or (now defunct) internet ranking scores.

Oh, duh. Tongue

Anyway, the only big thing that's keeping me from getting into KBM is that I checked the songlists and 30 songs on the latest AC version just seems lame to me after having 600 songs to choose from on StepMania.

How many songs does DoReMiMania have?  Or does it work kind of like SM (download simfiles)?

This is something I really want to get into as a piano player who needs to increase his skills, especially finger speed.

DoReMi Mania accepts MIDI's, and has some sort of WAV support that I haven't quite figured out yet. I think it does support soundfonts to some extent, but it was never really fleshed out. If you wanna try out DoReMi, get "FaSoLaTi", which is an english repackage with some tools to get you started. It's written in .NET, so make sure you have that architecture available on your PC.

Maybe I could meet up with you with my lappy, and you could point me in the right direction?  I suck with figuring things out through the internet even more than I suck at programming.

I think as long as I were to meet you first at an arcade (Milwaukie, Avalon, or Tilt!, in that order of which would be easiest for me), I think my mom would be okay with me getting together with you somewhere more laptop-friendly.  I'd be willing to bring my lappy to Milwaukie because if any of the employees there see someone walking off with my shit, they'll stop them, since they know me and seem to like me.
