I'm not saying it's legit, but according to EvilDave and Bemanistyle:

Quote
An unofficial announcement of an official Konami lead tournament has been posted. Reasons for this unofficial announcement is due to the first regional tournaments starting very soon.

The Community Manager of Konami, Ryan Iyengar aka DukAmok is the main person behind this and has been in contact with EvilDave over some of the details of this upcoming event.

Here are some of the details:

    * The main event and regional's are to be held on SuperNOVA 1 for its availablity. SN2 will be used at locations when no SN1 is available.
    * "Satellite" regional tournaments will take place throughout the US at Gameworks locations.
    * The 1st place winners from each regional will be awarded with an all expenses paid trip to the finals.
    * Finals are to be held at the Gameworks Las Vegas, NV on the 5th of December.
    * The main event will only be open for the 1st place regional winners.

Competitors must register to compete on an upcoming Konami website. Entrance is free of charge.

I remember last year following posts on ddronlinecommunity.com on this subject. So I this just might actually be serious.

Should be fun if it turns out to be real.

So, I've just got to throw this out there because, ridiculous as it is, I'm legitimately curious.

Is there anything in the rules against using performance enhancers? I know this is a DDR tournament and not the Olympics, but you just KNOW that somebody's going to get high on something before entering. Plus, if there is such a rule, it could be useful to know - Tony has ADHD and his medication is basically amphetamines; I don't want somebody to freak out about that and accuse him of cheating. Tongue

That's a good point.  I'd probably use my Albuterol inhaler for a tournament if I felt that it would affect my performance.

Damn I hope not. What will I do with the 40 kilos of crack and the crate full of anabolic-androgenic steroids I bought at that Costco in Panama!

Lots of good gamers in every genre do drugs.  I don't think it really matters unless there are rules against it. Drugs are your own perogative. Don't ask don't tell.

I contacted DukAmok, and he is hoping to be able to make it to the remainder of the tournaments. I also let him know if there's anything we can do to help, we're willing to help. Smiley

I'd been thinking about dropping out of the tournament for awhile anyway, because unfortunately, I haven't been breathing very well for the last several months and can only play dance games in small, unpredictable bursts. So now, I've got an interview tomorrow for staffing this tournament! Cheesy

Hopefully someone can take a good amount of pics of this event.  I don't think many pictures were taken of the past ones that went on.

I'm going to try to take a lot of pictures, but the quality won't be all that great. I'm really excited about this tournament. So what is the qualifier song? just one of the songs from the first round?

No how it works is those are the songs you can pick for that round, and so forth.

They made you pick a seeding song when you sign up.
I'm not even sure if they're doing that anymore though.....

yeah I got this a long time ago

Dear Andrew Burns, This is to update you regarding the song selections for the DanceDanceRevolution US Qualifier as of September 30, 2009.  During your initial registration, you selected a song for Round One during registration. Please note, this song selection is no longer valid. The song selections have changed.  Song selections for each DanceDanceRevolution US Qualifier will change for each event. Songs will be posted the Monday before the event is to take place.  To review the song selections for this week's event go to: http://www.konami.com/uschamps And click on the Songs link.  Tournament Administration

so i figured the new seed would be from the new round one songs?

i'll ask one of my friends that competed at the last regional and see what he did.

That would be a good idea, because I'm not sure what to do either.

I'm assuming when we arrive we tell them what qualifier we want to play. Everyone plays their qualifier song and the top 5 or 10 (I can't remember) players with the highest scores move on. I don't think it matters if one player had 98% on Brazilian Anthem and another got 98.5% on Insertion, the players with the highest score moves on, regardless of song. Assuming that this is the method they're using, I would stick with the song you have the highest % on for the qualifier.

By all means though, if you talk with your buddy who participated in a previous event, please inform us all. This US Championship has gotten very little clarity or attention, even from the players in our community.
