- ORIGINAL POST -
So PAX Decided to mix things up in 2009 and move to Labor Day weekend.
So I'll look forward to seeing 12 people sign up for all the serious tournaments again at Kumoricon in 2009 I guess; it's not like any of my sponsors will mind. :/
If you're planning on going to PAX in 2009, I hate you. :[

Oh, I'm definitely going to PAX 2009 now
I hope Phantasy Star Zero will be released in the US by then, 'cause I was looking forward to actually using their DS lounge this year for some ad-hoc parties and trading

Why is it PAX's fault. If you are more into gaming, you should just go to PAX anyways, maybe talk to them about setting up a DDR/ITG tournament.

I can't go to either because I'll be in Hawaii. On my honeymoon.

Heck, if I could be getting it on in Hawaii I'd pick that over PAX any day!

Not necessarily fault, but it is PAX that crossed the line by specifically scheduling an event that conflicted with an event that drew from a similar fanbase. This year, it was quite forgivable; both Kumoricon and PAX were maintaining patterns that just happened to conflict this year.
Gaming is the only thing that brings me to these events; I dislike cosplay, I hate mainstream anime and manga, I don't care about vendors, and I despise expenditures. The question is, why
would
I go to PAX? I would have no familiarity with the event, no familiarity with the policies, no developed contact with the directorship, and I'd essentially be just giving up and sucking the monolithic cock of some event I'm honestly not that interested in spending $200+ to attend.

That's fine; you've kind of been an ass to me every time we've met, so I don't necessarily want you at Kumoricon.

Yes, I was. Sorry
I tend to be a little bit of a jerk depending on my mood but I was definitely a big ass towards you

would
I go to PAX?
To be part of the Penny Arcade mass and try out new games before they're released? I didn't find it to be that entertaining last year, but I had really high expectations.

Okay so don't go to either.
That aside:
PAX would love for someone to step up and have a tourney. Any kind of volunteers at any major event like this are wanted. You know this firsthand.
Having the PAX crowd gone from Kumoricon gives you even more reason to pick up shop and move to PAX.
Why are you channeling your emotions into feeling bad about a shitty anime convention when you could channel that same energy positively into an environment that is not only receptive to, but enjoys serious gaming? It doesn't seem like you are thinking clearly here.
Sure, PAX has tons of idiots, but they are into serious gaming. For me it's easier to deal with annoying gamers because at least I can relate to them on the level of being a gamer.
Kumoricon has tons of idiots who are into anime, act half their age and aren't serious about gaming.
It's your decision in the end, but I think you'd rather be in a gaming circle than a glomp circle.

Oh.
Well, thanks for just coming out and saying that. I actually don't really dislike you at this point; honesty is becoming.

Part of what angers me about this is that I was looking forward to going to both events in the future. I kind of jumped the gun on getting mad about it mostly because it had given me so many problems when dealing with sponsors and trying to recruit staff for Kumoricon. I think I'll probably let people know that, if the events are scheduled for the same weekend in 2010, PAX will take priority, but I'm going to just hold on this year and do what I can to make Kumoricon's Tournament Appeal competitive with PAX's.
