what's the reason for doing this as opposed to just having an open event?

ok, TOURNAMENT PLACINGS:

NAT06 locals: blew horribly back then
NAT06 regionals: still blew horribly
DS1: rofl i don't think i even qualified
DDREvo2.5: 4th
Sakuracon06: I dunno, I think it was top 8 though.
LG5: 3rd
DS2: top 8?
Sakuracon07: 1st
BattleBreaks: 3rd?

Yup, I totally don't qualify for this.

Also, I think the idea is really neat. However, you should have an open tournament as well because it's at an anime convention and EVERYBODY at anime conventions plays DDR.

This is a pretty obnoxious topic in itself: an excuse to be a dillhole to anyone south of Vancouver. DMN should probably be barred from competing. There are plenty of players who are competent but have very little of a tourney record. and in Oregon only Tyler will qualify because he dominates. Mech doesn't even live here anymore. MTJ doesn't go to many tourneys. This also bars Tim, who is most likely the best DDR player on the west coast, save California.  Besides, this only covers one Bemani. Sakuracon also wouldn't like a closed event where paying attendees can't enter. Smells like high school DMN. Thanks for the flawed and albeit immature idea though, it really tickles my fancy when someone tries to stir up drama!

P.P.S.

Given the player dynamic in the northwest, this just can't work. You wouldn't even qualify for your little elitist party. Sorry, just because you've been around for a while doesn't make you good DMN. You still suck, but it's okay. Just remember that you can't go to your own party :>

and this rule

bars all of Oregon pretty much (by your definition, unless this exclusively applies to me <prbly lol>). I'm sorry that we like to have fun and enjoy a laugh once in a while.

Some of the best players don't necessarily have tournament records. MTJ and KeeL are examples of this. An open tournament would probably determine the best player more accurately than a closed one.

That wouldn't work. Not elitist enough for DMN.

Have there even been enough tournaments for this criteria to apply to 16 different people?

I AM ERROR
Read November 18, 2007, 07:52:29 PM #9

why don't you split it up into two divisions based on tourney experience?  like:

Division I = "Challenge Mode" - For those who have plenty of tourney experience (one or more) and want the ultimate ninja warrior death match challenge...or something like that
Division II = "Enjoy Mode" - For those who just wants to test their homepad skills...or something to that matter...

excuse the pop'n references, they're the best way to interpret it...

most of the sakuracon attendants who play the didder or itg may probably go with "enjoy mode" anyway...

-Sum shit @ GK - 5th or sumthin
-Kumoricon '07 - 1st

Yeah I'm pretty HxC if I do say so myself.

My thoughts are:

-Has entered at least 4 events in the past 4 years
-Has won an event in the past 5 years
-has reached the top 4 in at least 3 instances

Well I meet those qualifications....just not with music games :/

Anyways, I'll probably go to this anyways, it sounds like it would be fun to hang out at.

I think I'll bring Pop'n this year too, I'm not sure if I'll run a tournament though.  I think people would rather just have fun playing it.  Hopefully 15 Adventure CS is out by then.
