I'm not saying it's legit, but according to EvilDave and Bemanistyle:
Quote
An unofficial announcement of an official Konami lead tournament has been posted. Reasons for this unofficial announcement is due to the first regional tournaments starting very soon.
The Community Manager of Konami, Ryan Iyengar aka DukAmok is the main person behind this and has been in contact with EvilDave over some of the details of this upcoming event.
Here are some of the details:
* The main event and regional's are to be held on SuperNOVA 1 for its availablity. SN2 will be used at locations when no SN1 is available.
* "Satellite" regional tournaments will take place throughout the US at Gameworks locations.
* The 1st place winners from each regional will be awarded with an all expenses paid trip to the finals.
* Finals are to be held at the Gameworks Las Vegas, NV on the 5th of December.
* The main event will only be open for the 1st place regional winners.
Competitors must register to compete on an upcoming Konami website. Entrance is free of charge.

I remember last year following posts on ddronlinecommunity.com on this subject. So I this just might actually be serious.
Should be fun if it turns out to be real.

He totally is. He's the coolest DDR parent ever. Even though my mom DOES occasionally go "All the hoochie mammas throw your hands up!" and then throws her hands up.

So i'm guessing i'll be at Gameworks tonight sometime between 7:50 at the earliest and 9:25 at the latest.
I won't be checking my computer for the weekend so i hope i see someone there.
I didn't know DDR X was there so i'm ganna give that a shot.

Good luck to those going! I'd of liked to have watched it, but I'm busy with some other things. Someone should talk to the Konami reps about having it at fan selected destinations if they do this in the future, if any of them actually show up. I think if they could swing it, it would be better to do at Acme or something.

don't try DDR X, trust me. It's NOT worth it. I might see you there. I'll probably be playing Drummania and SuperNova around 6:00

Won't happen. (the part about fan destinations)
Too much work arranging things with EVERY individual place. Sponsorship with Gameworks is easy - they say Gameworks, we want to do it and GW handles the rest.

Well I have some pretty good news. The 2P is in almost ideal condition surprisingly. I saw this lady who I think is helping run the tournament (she might be a konami official, I don't know really I didn't ask)
Anyways, she asked to check the 2P side, so I did, and I played B4U and got 12 greats, and I think something like 7 pad misses, so they're hella better than before. granted I was playing no bar just to be sure, so if you play bar, you'll probably get a few more misses due to weight being taken off, but she told me around 9:00 I think they were gonna close off SuperNova and work on it tonight and tomorrow morning. If its not good enough she said it will be a one pad tournament (please god no) and I told her that there is going to be quite a few of us that know how to fix these pads. She was kind and said that while she does appreciate that, she can't let us because we'll get disqualified if we touch the pads (touch as in try to open them up and stuff).
I'm actually really surprised to see them doing something
1P side is fantastic as usual
GOT 2 GREATS on AA! 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Considering that it seems like whenever I breathe in I start choking this morning, I think I'll be dead last if anyone, because I'll have to stop 10 seconds in, fail out, and cough up a lung.

I doubt that Kevin. I've only been able to play on a SN cab twice in the last two months, so I'm not exactly prepared for this tournament. Last night I was able to play these songs a handful of times just to know what to expect.
Good luck to everyone. I'll see ya there close to 12.

Tournament results:
1st: Amber!
2nd: Me!
3rd: AnyburnsDDR!
4th: Suko!
Congratulations to everyone who entered! This tournament has some good matches.
Overall I think it could have been run better, and there were some things that were a little off, but I would say this one was hella better than the past two. The techs actually listened to us.
Speaking of which, thank god Kevin Boddy came out to watch amber haha, he helped them fix the pads, in which I would say he kinda saved the tourny hahaha.
AWESOME TOURNAMENT GUYS!

Thanks for posting those results up Kevin! Man, KevinDDR's prediction was pretty close. I think the biggest surprise to us was how well Andy Burns did! I don't think most of us met him before and he AAAed his qualifier and went on to get 3rd!
I'll upload some pictures I have from the tournament soon. It was really fun participating and seeing everyone there!

Agreed! For the first time since 2004, I really felt like I was part of a DDR *community* as opposed to a DDR incestuous family. You guys are awesome.

Hey man thanks a lot, I didn't expect that to happen at all.
Congrats to Amber! you're an amazing player.
and to Kevin, i think you got better every match you played.
I'm sad we didn't have any rounds against one another.
This was a great tournament (i thought) and it was great to see everyone out there supporting the community!
(my pictures aren't good quality so i'll wait for others to post)
OH, and this is a long shot but did anyone snap a pic of my AAA? It's was actually my number 50 and i spaced taking a pic.
Edit: Oh and Suko you already know how impressed i am with you and not using the bar, your insane!

I tried to upload my photos to their own folder for this tournament, but I can't seem to create a new album. =(
So, I put them in the root folder of Tournaments for now:
http://www.pnwbemani.net/smf/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=album;id=10
If anyone wants to check them out, enjoy. Most of'em are of me, or have me in them 'cause my girlfriend was sweet enough to take some pics of me as I played.

I uploaded the 6 pictures I had on my camera from the event, and moved Suko's pics into a folder for the tournament.
Hopefully you guys have some more pictures that can be uploaded!
