The IIDX Story Begins

Does anyone have anything planned for Sakura-Con this year? DDR/ITG Tourney, meetups, IIDX gaming, anything?
I have a few IIDX Styles, a JKOC, USKOC, and an un-modded PS2 (Swap Magic).
I'm actually registered to go so I will most likely attend this year.

Last year not much happened cause there wasn't a modded PS2 to use.
I'd gladly bring my PS2 and my modded USKOC, and have pretty much all the styles too. Could even bring my friend's DJ Dao too but only if I knew there was a place I could put it that's guaranteed to be safe.

Historically, Sakuracon has had VERY strong rules against modded or pirated content of any sort - we've generally been restricted to actual hard copies of import games on actual import systems. Since I just run the arcade, I'm not sure if this is still the case - you guys might wanna ask console gaming before you bring anything so you don't get in trouble.

There will be an ITG tournament on Saturday and a DDR tournament on Sunday. The rulesets will be very similar to last year, and Tony will be writing them up sometime within the next week.
I am also trying to get Neko to run an impromptu challenge tournament on Friday, but that will be more of a surprise.

Might I ask if Rebirth 2 will be allowed for picks?

How many people do you have on staff Laura? Can I even volunteer anymore? I'm just curious.
ITG tourney would be fun!
May I suggest just making a pack with certain picks from various packs?

Keby: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE staff!!
In particular, if you'd be willing to staff at night that'd be especially helpful, but yeah.
Gerrak: Unsure about Rebirth 2 ATM because so many people are running different versions of that pack that it might cause some confusion. Will talk it over with Tony and come to a conclusion within the next couple of days.

I know some people bring modded PS2's to play fighting games like melty blood and stuff, and then there's people who bring their own laptops to play other PC doujin fighting games, and who's to say their installed copies are legit or not? The console staff usually don't give a fuck, but in the off chance there is someone who wants to disrupt our good time I'll bring my legit games for show.

Well, just tell everyone to use and consider the Beta 2 charts and synchronizations since they are the latest. It may not be optimal since it's not the final version, but according to the Rebirth team, Beta 2 IS the finalized steps.
Unless you hunt and peck for custom song files across the board (like admittedly most people that still play ITG), than the ITG community hasn't had a new song pack since 2008 and it's definitely time for new charts. I totally vote allowing Rebirth 2 charts just as long as it's clear to use the Beta 2 cuts if for none other reason than we've played EVERY CHART IN ITG, ITG2, ITG3, AND REBIRTH SOOO MUUCCCHHH!
Ignore the yelling. =P

Hey so the tournaments just a couple weeks away, how about that tournament announcement?
If we don't want to put the whole Rebirth 2 pack on we could just pick out a few of the good ones (I've found about 3 or 4 good 9s and half a dozen 10s and 1 11 I like quite a bit I could suggest, but I've still not played at least 2/3 of the pack).
We could also include the Try to Quad pack; I think it's fairly well known now by local people at least and it would give a significantly longer song list than just using officials. It would make sense to allow these for future picks, and maybe even add to the list (for instance, with the aforementioned Rebirth 2 songs). Out of state players might complain but that could only be completely addressed by only allowing officials, and I'd think it would be better if we just keep from asshat picks against them.
Anyway just suggestions, I'm cool with whatever. But we need decisions pretty soon!

Not that it matters since I'm not going to this thing, but why do I get the impression that people think ITG, ITG2, ITG3, and ITG Rebirth won't offer enough song choices for a tournament? Yes, they're a bit dated, but that's a ton of songs available for a single tournament.

It's because we've been playing them for so long that people want new things to play and be challenged by. Yes we play old DDR songs for DDR tourneys, but that's because they don't have custom songs.
ITG does, and so now people want different new things, it's natural.

Hey guys where's the cheapest place to park?
Honestly, I'd consider parking at one of the local Park and Rides that are north or South of Seattle and taking the bus or light rail into downtown. Or perhaps there's some people on this forum that wouldn't mind letting you park at their place. I'd offer, but I'm a good 40 minutes North of Seattle. So it's a bit of a trek just for parking.

Yeah that's pretty far lol. If there's cheap parking 10 min away walking, I'm willing to walk. I think the waterfront parking is cheaper than most of the garages downtown, but I'm not sure.
