Discuss everything SakuraCon'11 here.

SO, I'm a big anime con fan.  Mainly because it's a weekend of gaming, socializing, and a mildly surreal laid back attitude.  Though i'm a big anime/animation fan, I've never been to an anime panel and pretty much spend my time in the game rooms and hotel partying with friends.

Thus, my first SakuraCon will be my *49th? 50th?* anime convention.  Who's going?  What should I expect game room wise?  Any fun previous con stories / experiences / etc to share?

I'm probably not going even thought I'd so love to. I'm gonna be mad broke after Vegas at the end of the month but IF I do go I'll bring EMPRESS + Premium Best if anyone is interested.

i am kinda scared to let the staff keep my stuff anymore.  i have yet to have a pleasant time getting my shit back from them.  i always have to get jon to lay down some justice.

1. Jon is no longer in the proper chain to help you (he was Programming manager for a couple year, which put him in charge of all gaming staff, but then someone else was voted in to replace him - I don't know if he's staffing at all this year).

2. As the arcade managers, Laura and I are generally in contact with the main gaming managers a handful of times leading up to the con, so I will see if I can find out what exactly the "proper" route for getting your stuff back is next time I have a chance.  It's annoying that they require you to check your own stuff out to play it, but that makes perfect sense - it's not so clear why it would be a fight to get them to give you a final return.  The main thing I can think of is that I just don't actually know where the proper process is outlined - so long as you do things the proper way, there should be no problem, otherwise I can make noise on your behalf.  The key thing is knowing the proper process for getting stuff back - there's (in theory) a method defined somewhere that they must stick to, because the combined value of all the borrowed games is way too high to risk the return process being disorganized.

Wasn't aware of their strict no "backup copy" policy, what about using a modded PS2/swapmagic to play the legit versions of the game? I'd like to be a part of the IIDX tournament as well even though I'm a terrible player. I plan on bringing a Japanese xbox360 for shoot'em up fans like myself, but its my first time bringing a console and from the sounds of things don't sound 100% secure so I'm a bit worried Sad

Hey! I had to help a little kid get his money back after trying to play ITG and selecting Heaven because the songs are pretty much all 11+s in the Custom Pack, which is the set default. So when we get a chance to change the machine settings at Sakuracon Please remember to change the default song/pack back to something in ITG 1 or 2. Right now the machine is frankly ripping off a lot of people. Thanks!

Okayz! I can change that. I just need to get into the .ini file on the theme.

That's strange. My ITG3 theme defaults to a random song in the ITG3 folder, regardless of what custom packs I have.

Acme's machine is still on beta 2. You have the latest version from Bolt himself right?
