My good friend Robby (omgmkat of beatgamer.com) is running a
really cool looking challenge tournament
in Utah on 4/16. I really want to attend, but don't want to go to Utah, and also really want to bring these fun challenges to all of you guys here, so I talked to him and Scott/Suko, and we came up with a really cool idea:
What if we run this tournament on Scott's machine at his house at the same time that Robby is running this tournament in Utah, and we stream video to each other and compare scores over Google Docs?
So essentially, we were wondering if anyone would be interested in attending a silly challenge tournament on a short timescale (4/16 is two weeks from this Saturday) for the purpose of 1. Having fun and 2. Experimenting with interstate tournament play over the internet. (For this tournament, we wouldn't be competing against Utah's players, to be clear - just comparing scores with them and watching each others' players complete the challenges via streaming video.)
Scott has given me the go-ahead to post this and gauge interest. I know Sakuracon is coming up, but since that event is limited to con attendees, of which many PNWBemani.net players are not, I figured that this might not necessarily lead to over-saturation of tournaments. If there is an entry fee at all, it'll be something like one dollar, and any and all prizes will be silly gag gifts and stuff; this tournament would be for fun only.
So... thoughts?

The tournament was fun and ridiculous. The ultimate winner was Dan, followed by Ben. I'll leave it to some other attendees to post some of the juicier details. I'm tired and need to relax a bit right now. =D
Thanks for helping put this together Laura!
Btw, I recorded a good chunk of the livestream. Check it out here:

Glad to hear that you guys had fun. I wanted to get your input on the rules and see how closely you followed them, because we actually ended up slightly modifying the rules for some challenges. We'll compare notes, and work on the whole doing this again thing at a later time
Our stream is up for all to view on our bambuser channel, but it's in about 78 parts since the connection kept dropping (wimax ftw). I'll try to get it all combined and re-uploaded at a later time.
