March 14, 2007, 10:06:30 PM - ORIGINAL POST -

Zeppy tried to get away with two accounts.

He intentionally started crap on the board, and if there was doubt in anyone's mind about him being banned, he had 6 exact IP addresses shared between the accounts, with 10 more in the same ranges.

This isn't as big of an issue as the next two problems.

1) There is someone else with two *exact* ip's between two accounts. DancingTofu and Dalton_Man321, you two have some quick explaining to do.

If anyone else is going to be posting from the same IP you post from, you better say so now, before you get banned. I'm talking exact same IP, not even close ranges.

Dancing, if this is a second account of yours, you will not be banned if you'll delete the second account, as you didn't know about this beforehand.

2) OREGON - You guys knew that one of Zeppy's two accounts didn't exist in real life. Guess what, for whatever reason you guys got your kicks, you're done.
Since it seemed like Zeppy was the "real account" (because he used his actual name with that one), anyone who was hiding Iori better say something.

This is where you have a chance to redeem yourselves.

Prove that Dalton_Man321 isn't a fake. I guess this shouldn't be too hard, but until then, your reputations aren't looking that good.

To the rest of Oregon: I'm sorry for the trouble, and sorry that you have people who like to stir up trouble in your community.

I may be in trouble if other people here post from the computers at various places on UW... Just a heads up that I do post from them and there may be shared addresses in that way.

I think we all know that you, Tony, and Jerrad are different people.

Cheesy

Yeah. This is also easy to check because I (or any one of us) could easily meet anyone from the UW and see if they're real or not. No worries, Tada. :-)

I don't know of any way to prove that Dalton isn't me, but I think the fact that he actually appears to be a real person (as far as I can tell) should be at least some evidence that he's probably not me.  I've never met him; he appears to be a new member too.  I don't know how IP addresses work, but they seem random enough that a repeat would probably be theoretically possible.  If he comes to the Portland get-together, maybe I could get a picture of the two of us occupying two different bodies; I think that's the best proof you'll get.  I don't see what the point in having 2 accounts would be, especially when I already am probably second or third on the naughty list around here already for my postwhoring and whatever else I do that makes me spamalicious.

Point is, Dalton isn't me.  If I were making a second account, it would probably be called Thatlatu and live in Vancouver.  It would probably also be 97 years old, or have some other feature that makes it obvious that it's not a serious account.

Regarding Matt, I obviously knew about Iory, but there's no way in hell I would do anything to get a good friend like him banned.  I'm pretty sure that nobody else was actually sure about Iory = zeppy.
Putting this on Oregon is offensive and prejudiced.  In case you didn't already know, Portland is covered by a WiFi signal.  This means similar and identical IP's are much more likely to occur in Portland.  If you start blocking out Oregon and pointing fingers at us as a whole, you're excluding 1/3 of the Pacific Northwest.

Dalton, if you read this, could you post some pictures of yourself?  I think everyone here already knows plenty about what I look like.

Well, I have to admit the IP thing with Portland being WiFi is a new consideration.  I don't think Oregon should be singled out so to speak, but I don't know many members from Oregon other than you and Zeppy, Tofu.  So when Zeppy gets banned then turns around and has a second persona (that you know about), then at least to me it kind of rings that 100% of the people I know from Oregon are questionable.  Obviously this doesn't mean all Oregonians are bad, as that would be a blatant stereotype (though an old housemate of mine I didn't get along with was also from Portland  ) .  However I can see how Jon would have reasons to believe there was some kind of correlation occuring between Oregon posters and he was trying to nip it in the bud by being strong in his resolve.  Stubborn?  Well, maybe the new info on a WiFi Portland will reveal some things and he will reconsider.  Paranoid?  Well, it depends on the extent to which this policy is enforced versus the extent to which it is needed.

Anyhow, I wouldn't want to scare off new potentially valuable members of the community.  Hopefully the mods will take Tofu's new statements into consideration.

Actually, sorry if my post is kind of excessively defensive.  But I'm serious about it.  Really, zeppy and I aren't good representations of the Portland bemani community, and we're a terrible representation of Oregon, the geographic majority of which = hicks.

Well, anyone is always a representative of the place(s) they're from, whether they want to be or not..

Wireless point very well taken into consideration. I did not know this beforehand either. Who's providing it? Any info on this?  Tongue

The IP shared between you two is 198.236.13.36, which after a little more searching showed that you two happen to be using computers in the same school system; and are not the same people (unless somehow proven later...)   If I hadn't have found this info about the Ip (the only one you two share.. but it's still rare to share an exact ip) the picture would have been perfectly acceptable proof. Smiley

But I'm sure you understand why I was concerned about it.

Not all of this was put on Oregon either, just Oregon members who would have been involved; which is why I apologized in advance in my first post. It's not prejudice.

As for a few of Zeppy's IP's, some specific ones were banned (the ones most frequently used, 4 different ips) so chances are that most people won't have those, as no one else had them so far (that I'm aware of). If so, just let me know and I can unban it.

Thanks for being honest about this, DancingTofu. Zeppy didn't ruin it for everyone, don't worry.

Zeppy/Iori240 (Matt) has posted from my house before, but I'll make sure he doesn't anymore if he is to stay banned.

Phew, that was a close one. Tongue Yeah, we're different members. I'm glad this got resolved.

By the way, it's kind of a shame that Zeppy was banned. He seemed like a cool guy in real life (I met him at the Tilt).

Yeah, too bad it got locked. D:

As for the controversy: I don't think they did ban him, which is good since he didn't do anything wrong (at least to my knowledge...). We are different people. Tongue

I found it odd though, Zeppy seemed nice enough, but [to me at least] Iori240 was a complete asshole. Then i found out they were the same person, and looking back on Iori's posts, he seems to defend Zeppy alot, and imply things about him. makes sense. I find this whole situation recently (Forum changes, bannings) really quite funny, how things unfold.
And i'm glad the dancingtofu/dalton_man321 thing was resolved. Tofu's really fun to have on the boards.

Oops this post was in response to a comment on the previous page, me neglecting to realize a second page has already been created, with the question i answered, already awnsered, so this post has been edited.

And Dalton_Man123, i never see any of your posts, and DancingTofu has been more active (though he has been around longer). It's always nice to have more people in the forum tho. look forward to seeing you around the forums as well! ^_^!

I'm not 100% sure about the wifi thing, but the most public and well-known of the free wifi is http://www.metrofi.com/

Sorry to be a lurker on the forums.  Smiley

In any case, it saddens me to get this kind of rep as an Oregon player.  :? I live in Salem, but claim pride as a Eugene player.  *reminisces ddrinfinity*

The WiFi is the first big step in a really cool direction.  I think it's 4 years and it will cover all of Oregon.  With some current stuff out there, it's not very safe to use because of some reason hacking program that allows the hacker to pretty much see every detail from every website you've ever visited.  If you're on a WiFi, make sure you've got your firewalls up at 100%.

P.S.
w00t!  I'm fun!
Still, I would really appreciate it if we could at least let zeppy (Matt) redeem himself somehow.  As I've stated, he's not a bad guy at all.  He's a bit of a troller and often presents a pessimistic outlook on things, but he's still part of this community.  Could I draft some sort of user contract for the situation or something?  I'd like to see zeppy back here eventually, and in full compliance with all the rules, but I don't want the rules to be manacled to his feet.

1) He's had three chances. He had a temp ban (his third second chance, 4th if you include his 2nd profile) that showed we were serious and he didn't change his ways and still thought he could act like a jerk. He doesn't get any more.

2) If you're referring to a contract for him to come back? No. He's gone. If you're referring to what will constitute a ban/rules for punishment, that's Cynic's and my job to do.
