Currently stuck between easy 4's and difficult 4's on 12th style. Of particular annoyance are airflow [h], moon_child [n], and mind the gap [n]. Advice?

Don't play mind the gap. At all. Ever.

Just move on to some other songs. Other than that, the only advice I can give you is to start playing 2 handed if you haven't already. While it is true that players like LISU can play 1 handed IIDX very well, it's generally not advisable.

if that's what i think it is (a scale), they're pretty hard to pick up at first, but you'll eventually figure out which way works best for you. i use my thumbs so my fingers are laid out as (btw this is for 7k, i'm not sure if you meant 5k or not because of the picture you made)

left hand:
TT=pinky
1=ring finger
2=middle finger
3=thumb

right hand:
4=index finger
5=thumb
6=middle finger
7=ring finger

then just keep practicing the motion of the scale

I use the same finger setup as mykl, but index finger instead of left thumb for 3.

The only hard part in PDG is the stupid ending (chords + TT).

Introduced someone to Beatmania IIDX and they liked it.  That's hella cool to me.

I also passed some L7 5 I didn't think I could pass.   Still can't get colors though.

colors is hard. therse still a part i drop almost all the way down to 2% on, but i make it up in the end. a few good l7 5s to try would be Attitude, Snow, and ers. Those were my first few 5s.
i still can't beat love is dreaminess L7. can someone help me? Same for Bad boy bass L7 (lolz  for 4s that i cna pass)

I still occasionally fail Colors on Beginner. xP

Also, glad to hear I'm not the only one who sucks at Bad Boy Bass, it's the ending, right?  I can full combo it until almost the very end, then I drop to 40%.
Can't help you there, but good luck on getting it. (Snow and Attitude have been my first 5's too.  Snow just has an easy ending, and Attitude has enough rhythm to it to be an easy 5.  in my eyes has the potential to be easy, if you can just get the coordination of playing quarter notes with one hand and 1/6th's with the other)

I can pass Era L7.

But. . . I can't pass Bad Boy Bass. I hate that song.

I can finish it with 70%, but my fingers have been too cold to clear it since I've started getting into 5's. =(  It'll be my 3rd or 4th 5 when I clear it.

I've had the exact same money score and notecounts on Gambol [L7] (RED). I should probably dig out those pics sometime.

I've gotten the exact same EX score two tries in a row on several occasions.  I didn't know that counted as an accomplishment...

I've been playing on and off for less than 2 months.  You've had a lot more opportunities than I have to get weird scores. (I'm guessing you've been playing for more than two months)

On topic, I cleared Mobo*Moga [n], both Challenge and regular.  Third 5.

anybody else have trouble passing Voltage L7 w/out hs1+ on? I can't do it without speed mods. then once i used speedmods on that song, i haven't done a single song without them in a while. Only 3 BMus L7 songs that i can't pass yet. Bad Boy Bass, Love is dreaminess, spin the disc, and summer vacation (which seems impossible without speed mods)
Also, are the 7k 5's harder than the l7 5's, cuz i can pass most l7 5's, but not a single 7k 5.

I AA'd 5.1.1. [n]. Is that an accomplishment?
