Would anyone care to recommend some streamy songs at bpms below 170? I don't know where to look for 'em.
@Chris & Abbye, have any suggestions?

And I think it's Tori No Uta, right? lol.

yay I passed a Pendulum 12
At first I thought I'd never be able to perform past a foot rating of 6 on DDR. Then I thought I could never play past a 10 or use speed mods. And THEN I thought I could never play gimmicky charts or stream at even 126BPM. Now I'm almost able to stream at 170+bpm.
Gotta keep workin' on this, ITG is practically my only source of entertainment left. Or the only reason I'm happy.
Thanks for the support, everyone who sees me at ACME, and those of you on the forums.
And hey, ITG is all I really want on my birthday.

Hey Kevin, here are some good suggestions for you to try out next time you go to beast!
We tried to pick songs that stream more consistently at a lower BPM so you can get used to streaming for longer periods of time. Eventually, you can start streaming consistently at 170 bpm+. As far as we can see, your improvement is staggering so keep it up!
Floribunda (10)
A Logical World (11)
Again (11)
Twin Dragon (11)
Helix Nebula (11)
The Island Part 1 (11)
Here I go Again (11)
Superstring (11)
Run Away (10)
Ghosts N Stuff (10)
Down (11)
Because the Night (11)
I Go Crazy (12)
As the Rush Comes (12) *This is a 2 stage song by Dynaglide*
Lucky (11) *Play the chart without the 32nd drills*
In Dream (11)
Bubble Pop (11)
Frozen in Silver and Black (11)
Tori No Uta (12)
Baby (10)
Twilight Techno (11)
This Must Have Been A Dream (12)
Pistolero (11)
These are just a few of the charts that Abbye and I used to play about 2 years ago trying to practice streaming. I can promise you that there are a whole lot more on the machine, these are just what we practiced with. Also, you can sort the charts according to BPM to find more charts around the BPM you want.

I'm not sure what was wrong with me today. I did shit. I stepped too hard and moved more than usual...
I failed The Island pt. 1 half-way because both of my legs suddenly cramped and I couldn't even stand. If I need to take this many breaks in between ITG-playing sessions, there's no way I can improve my footspeed/stamina.
How do you prevent this?

Hey Kevin,
ITG is one of those games where you can't win every day.
There are some days where you just destroy everything you play and there are some days where the machine just beats you to a pulp. Abbye and I both feel like you should try to build momentum into the harder charts. For instance, try playing a 9, 9, 10, for your first set and then ease into the harder 10's, 11's, 12's, 13's, etc.
When Abbye and I started breaking into the harder charts, we'd start by playing 9's for our first set! Playing a stream-heavy 12 was the most we could do about 2 years ago!
Personally, I think you are getting real good, real fast so don't be to hard on yourself. Like everything else you want to get good at, it takes time, dedication, and practice. You need to recognize that taking breaks are normal and highly recommended, you need to give your body time to regenerate and come back stronger. There were times where Abbye and I would take about a week off and come back stronger, faster, and more accurate. Don't overload yourself with the pressure to get good, otherwise you'll just burn yourself out.
It took me a good 2 years of pure dedication to the game to be where I am at today, and I'm still not good enough in my eyes! But, I remember to remind myself that if I continue to practice and enjoy the process, there is nowhere to go but up, up, and up!
As far as your muscles cramps, hard steps, and excessive movement goes, here are a few solutions for you:
Muscle Cramps:
As I mentioned earlier, try to warm up with songs that are less intensive to get some blood flowing into your legs. Allowing your body to loosen up helps prepare it for challenging steps and helps you play longer and harder. Always remember to stretch your calves, hamstrings, quads, shins, gluts, and shoulders after your first set for these are the muscles you use the most during game play! Stretch each muscle for about 30 seconds and your muscle cramps should lessen or go away! Check online for how to stretch these muscles!
Hard/Heavy Steps:
This is directly related to your muscles being far to tight. Stretching and easing into the challenging charts will help alleviate this problem. When you jump into playing difficult and demanding charts to early your muscles will seize up and become tight. When your muscle are tight, they prevent fluid and soft movements ITG players desire.
Excessive Movement:
Excessive movement will lessen over time. The more you practice your form the better your movements will become. The only solution to lessening excessive movement is to practice tighter/cleaner form. Watch some of the elite players on Youtube, and you can get a idea of what you want your form to look like. I personally modeled my form after players like Happyfeet and Mad Matt.
Of course this is all personal opinion, there is no wrong or right way to do things, its just how I did things!
Just keep your head up and beast hard!

Thanks a lot for the advice. Really seemed informative. I suppose I wasn't very well hydrated today nor did I even stretch or warm up properly.

Also cramps are often caused by dehydration. Basically drink a whole ton of water before and throughout your play, stretch thoroughly, and warm up a little. I still play a couple sets of 9's and 10's also before I ramp up to harder stuff. Some people don't need much warmup though, you'll have to gauge that for yourself as you keep playing. Anyway thought I'd chime in on this since I saw it, keep smashing them arrows!
Ok, lastly, I meant to post this epic video of Chris and Tuan, on Tuan's first pass of
Superluminal
. Enjoy!

Hey cool!
Not sure if this is my best but I don't think I ever want to try and FA this song. It always hurts lol
I honestly thought I had it and was doing fine/wasn't tired and kept moving but I must have not locked in or something because my bar dropped out of no where.
since everyone else is playing it!
also flagged some stuff and got 4 on Big Sky from Trancemania
Hey really nice 9000 miles hard pass!!!!

Hey Kevin,
When Abbye and I watch you play, we've both noticed that you are wide in your stance. What I mean is that, when you play your feet use up a majority of the panels which in turn can drain you of your stamina. By narrowing your stance you can drastically improve your stamina and the duration of how long you can stream at higher BPM.
If you watch the video Allan (a.k.a. Gerrak) posted of Tuan and I playing Superluminal, you can get an idea of what narrow footwork looks like. The video is on this page.
When you are using a narrower stance, you are moving less to hit every note. Therefore, your energy use decreases and your endurance/stamina increases. Also, it is very important to note that using proper breathing techniques are critical in obtaining top notch stamina. Breathe in through your nose, breathe out of your mouth, and fill the stomach, not the chest. Remember to never breathe in with your mouth because this leads to excess muscle movement in your upper body which can burn you out faster.
I'm not saying that playing "wide" is wrong and that playing "narrow" is right, all depends on the style preference of the player. However, from personal experience, by narrowing my stance I continue to gain more stamina due to the minimal movement. Again, its just personal preference!

up from 95.60
really bitched out at the end of this, wasn't properly warmed up so I got a cramp and lost my form. Not my pick either ehh I'll do much better.
I thought this was pretty good. I rarely do this well on 14's
I fucking FINALLY got a star on this.
We always try to get double quads but it never seems to work out.

Something's up with me today. I didn't do as well as I had hoped for, even failed Granite on medium (11) when I usually pass that. In fact, I felt "lazier" and less motivated to push myself today. I mean, I ate a nice amount of food before playing, warmed up, and kept myself hydrated, made sure I didn't go past my limit without gradually warming up. It seems I wasn't able to perform at my fullest today. Does anybody have any tips for getting better, in general? I won't ever become a decent stamina player this way.
