As for SV, I do have fun with those charts, but part of it is that I recover significantly faster from speed bursts than I do from sustained 170-180 stream.  Considering I went to Acme 3 days in a row, playing mostly 12+'s, I needed to strategize with regard to my picks so I didn't burn out too quickly. I was playing much harder sets than I've even played before.

This was the last song of the day. I know I can get a higher score on this one. Been trying to stream 200bpm with more effort into timing my steps.


Streaming 200bpm is getting a bit easier, just need to put more effort into my FA. I want to be able to consistently score in the low teens to mid 20's with regards to my excellent count.

I really, really, like this song. I like most of the Helblinde songs! I'm going to freaking 99 this soon. I actually had a lower excellent count on a prior attempt but had couple greats, decents, etc... So, I tried again and ended up with this.


Why can't I full combo anything? Again, another 15 expert chart that I tried to 99% but got so many way-offs, greats, etc...and...not fantastics?  


WHY CAN'T I FULL COMBO ANYTHING?!? Definitely not a great excellent count, but it was okay...I'll accept it... I want to be scoring, again, between low teens and mid 20's on 15's. This chart was super fun to play, going to try again and freaking 99% this song!


I also played Snow Goose (17) and got 93% but it definitely NOT a Expert 17. I didn't take a picture of it cause I thought I could do better. I'll get a star on it and then I'll post it!

Hey Kevin good work on your passes, but let me remind you that you should be working on FA as well as passing them!

Your progression is one of the fastest I've seen. You have determination, that is evident but don't rush the 12's and 13's, get used to them before you move on. The transition from 13's to 14's is drastic. Work on all the different facets of this game. You've clearly worked on your stamina, so why not practice FA and speed?  

There are some really difficult 13's out there! There are different ways to challenge yourself. Here are some of the more challenging 12's and 13's I can think of, give them a shot.

Give these a shot next time you go. Try to really FA all these! 

The Hard chart (12) is a comparatively boring chart (similar step count to the 13, but with much simpler patterns), but it can be a good way to get used to moving at 230 if the 13 is too much.

I'd also throw the Try to Star (Tachyon Alpha version, also in Try to Quad) out there are a good 200+ BPM 12 for combining timing with footspeed. Also, all the Pendulum (i.e. all the 174) means that it might be worth looking at the Rhapsody of Fire pack. I know Warrior of Ice is a long (5+ minutes) streamy 13 at 175 BPM, and there are a handful of it's-a-13-but-we-called-it-a-14-due-to-length's in the 170-185 range.

I hear Dream of Winds is a pretty easy 13. :V

i got like 13 perfects on blue impulse inside nns, 8 of which were at the end hopefully i'll aaaa this soon. also got 15p on share my love with a bullshit great on a jump. extreme, not a later, easier timing window mix.

on that note i tried x and x2 for the first time and got a ton of black flags my first tries but they are inconsequential since the timing windows on new ddr games are so ridiculously easy. just when i thought itg timing windows were the most retardedly easy thing konami took it to new levels. i'm not sure how easy it is to get marvs in x2 but it feels like the marv window is basically a slightly tighter itg perfect? perfect feels easier than an itg perf for sure. great is you hit the arrow.

ITG quads are only comparable to DDR AAA's, and I think that was the intent when it was released.

I believe the consensus "back in the day" was that the timing windows goes like so:

ITG Great > DDR Great > ITG Perfect > DDR Perfect > ITG Fantastic > DDR Marvelous

This was how it was back in the DDR Extreme/SN era (SN2, also?). However, with all the pad modding, custom ITG builds, etc, I wouldn't be surprised if no one knows anymore. I mean, DDR could be much harder than ITG if you're not playing on the right machine with the right poll rates or judgewindow settings.

Yeah, I don't consider a song AAA'd on my machine unless it's 100%. The hardest part about quadding and AAAing is that ONE step. Because once you mess up once, you know if you (or the song) are early/late. But going the entire way through without messing up is tough.

Yep, those timing windows are the same all the way up to the latest version of DDR.
