September 07, 2011, 01:40:58 AM - ORIGINAL POST -

I saw a post about someone having carpal tunnel syndrome.  When I was younger, I thought I had carpal tunnel, but I found out was that I really had a repetitive motion injury.

I wanted to share this knowledge because I don't think it's commonly known.  It's not really in my nature to give out unsolicited advice, unless I TRULY feel something might help.  Hopefully this will help someone!

Please try this advice out.  I read about 5 books on this subject.  This is free advice and it's quick to try.  I hate to give advice, cause people love to not take it, even if it costs a measly 10 minutes.  I blame chain mail letters for this!

There are 2 major nerves in the arm that end at the arm pit.  Massage along your arms and especially at the arm pit area.  If you feel a sharp pain, then you've found a "trigger point."  You need to gently massage the trigger point away.

4 of the books covered that knowledge above, what the fifth book told me was that the end points at the arm pits are another source of carpal tunnel symptoms.  Probe firmly in your arm pit area(the whole area and at different angles), if you feel a ball of pain, then you've probably found the cause of your symptoms.

(Ball of pain for someone with carpal tunnel symptoms would probably feel more like a knife stab, I know I nearly blacked out when I treated my trigger point)

Once you've found the "trigger point" you need to massage it using a circular motion.  Massage it at the highest pain level you can manage.  The pain will dissapate in a few days if you are massaging hard enough.

Even though the knowledge I'm sharing with you is about 9 years old, I haven't found any source on the internet that tells you about this.

Even if you don't have carpal tunnel, you should try this.  You would be simply preventing the false carpal from ever happening.

Isra

This post sounds suspiciously like a bot post.

I mean, does this apply to dance games somehow? Or is this more targeting general video game players for their extended use of keyboards and game controllers?

Google provides this as the only other result for the email:

By comparison, most spam bot emails return several hits on Google from "spam bot lists".

And if you search for the first sentence in the post, no hits either. It's either a legit post, or really customized spam just for us. Tongue

The grammar in this post (save for the title being not capitalized) is way too good to be spam, and the post actually has some personality to it as well.  Either that, or perhaps spammers are just getting smarter by removing the red flag of bad grammar.  I'm not really sure what to make of it... but doesn't replying to spammers give them more to work with?

@Suko: I don't remember if I or Laura had posted it, but I'm pretty sure that it's been directly stated that I stopped playing IIDX because of how much it would mess up my wrists to play even a few charts by the end.  I'm assuming this was in response to a post like that - in which case I'm appreciative, but it legitimately hasn't been an issue since I stopped playing IIDX.

Also, Isra posted in the introduction thread after Laura told him about the site when we met him a few days ago at Acme.

It's just strange not to start off the post with something like: "Hey guys, I know we all play a lot of games and hand pain can be a problem so..."

Ya'know?

Btw, ISR, if you read this, sorry to accuse you of being a bot. But as we mentioned above, the post did seem rather non-direct and a bit broad.

Yeah, this post really could have used more of an introduction, and skimming it made it sound like an advertisement, especially with the links at the bottom.
