You can get the same results without photoshop if you know what you're doing. PS is waaay too common nowadays which makes for lazy photography.
Real cameras don't make videos which might explain part of the problem.
edit: mm, so as not to derail the thread. I have lots of "art"

Some art to cover up:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v320/mazutec/?action=view¤t=MyFavouriteGameExpert.flv
The room's fully lighted in that vid. (EDIT: btw, that was, like, 6 months ago. My timing's much better than that now)
As I already stated, $50 digital camera. (the Pic above was taken with the same camera, which seems to work great for stuff like that with blurred lights)

If you have a single bright object in the room, your camera will likely assume that it is the target of your photo and adjust accordingly (for instance, your camera actually managed to take a relatively clear picture of the casing around the light in detail). Likewise with your movie. Your camera is adjusting to the brightest object in the room and reacting accordingly.
Also keep in mind, at any given time, most TV's are completely blank

I'm not trying to be mean, but this is basic stuff. It doesn't mean your camera sucks. You don't have to have a $1000 camera to take good pictures.
edit: and your picture is breaking the frames, mind making it smaller or trading it for a link instead?

yeah especially if you are taken photos for art purposes w/e, your equipment doesn't dictate what you can do. it may limit you from a certain 'thing' that you want to do, but i mean honestly you can create art out of anything.
just make the picture smaller like metroid said ha. 800x600 is about the biggest you could possible need for anything other than wallpaper or large prints i guess. 10mp images are WAY too fucking big for anything other than eating space generally... hard to work with. having manual control over parts of your camera is pretty useful though.
also, met where are those pics from on your site at the ocean? looks like taking from a plane or something. pretty sweet.
edit, yeah it was actually like 6pm not 11 >_> gotta fix that.
edit again, fuck i'm an idiot the pictures have titles ha. sepiafalls at snoqualmie is awesome.

i'm just going to make a whole new post ha.
@tofu: i realize you said you didn't have anything to edit your shit with but there's plenty of free stuff out there. i can do anything i need to with ACDSee, i just stopped using it though because it sucks and causes horrible jpg artifacts and it kills me. and thats the only reason i use PS.
i don't really know where i was going with this, but just pointing out that's it's pretty easy to do basic cleanup of stuff i guess.
@met: man your HDR pics rock, esp the hdr sunrise. i've experimented with it a bit, but more often than not i run into some problem that makes it not work out.
but heres some hdrs:
edit, fixd size

My camera only goes up to 3.1mp. I just usually resize to 50% because that's the best fit for my screen resolution.
Also, you'll notice that I can adapt well to weird lightings in my artistic shots (I'll generally use them to my advantage), but with videos and regular pictures, I don't have a lot of options other than download something off the internet and try to figure out how to use it well enough to make the photo/vid visible, which has never worked for me in my life.

If your camera has no manual adjustments then there are a lot of limitations. IE the longest exposure my camera will take (if I cover up the lens) is like 1/10. And unless my pictures are outside in full daylight I get all kinds of grain and noise in my pictures. :\ I have a film SLR back in Bonney Lake, but it has a short that apparently costs the same as a used camera to fix.
Anyway, artwork! I never finished this, but I drew it something like 18 months ago, so it's rather old.
Based on:
Also, please ignore the doll over my shoulder; that wasn't my room.

I can take outdoor pics alright because the light isn't all coming from one or two sources, but artificial light just doesn't do the trick. I hope to get a decent ($300-$500) video camera when I can.
Also, I might start working at a pet shop in Southern WA. My stepdad just purchased it. =)

Nice picture, although it's more of a picture of the blossoms than the sunrise. :-P
I love photography. Taking pictures is relaxing and fun, and I get some good shots once in a while. ;-)

All of the pictures here haven't been edited at all, they're the way the picture was taken.
I think one or two are my uncle's pictures mixed in.. and all were taken with either a Nikon D70 or Nikon Coolpix 7900.
Few of the ones I really like right now...
[HIGHER RES ONES (and more besides just these) are in the Picasa Gallery above]
