So much that I'm willing to make a pointless, stupid topic on it.  Working on a 5-page paper right now, trapped inside on a nice, sunny day. Sad

Current progress: 5 pages!
Goal: 5 pages.

VICTOLY

Hey!

Have I ever seen you at the arcades before? Where did you play before (presumably) moving to Japan?

Yeah.  We met at the Sakura-Con '06 ITG Tournament.

At home, I frequented ACME/Narrows and Illusionz/Quarters before them (read: old-school).  These days, it's all about Game-In Sanshou...

2 Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVAs

Only a short walk (5 minutes) from my apartment downtown.

Okay, a little more back on topic...

I will be happy with a 2.0 from this course.  No joke.  To put that in perspective, I have yet to get a grade below 3.0 in any course at UW.  This is pure damage control for me; I have had the same crappy English/writing hardware in my brain for about the last 7 years.

BTW, the paper was a comparison of heroification and Disneyfication, comparing them and then going into their effects.  Though honestly it is a dump after about page 3, and possibly before then too.

Shit, I can hardly write a paper longer than 2 pages without bullshit.

My longest non-bullshit paper was a page and a half, but I don't try.

My longest bullshit paper was 12 pages.

My longest anything else was an insomnia-induced rant about how much my love life sucks, which, when put onto Microsoft word in size 12 font, came out around 120,000 characters, 50,000 words, and some disgusting amount of characters.

It was basically:
Rant, Diablo 2, eat, repeat.
For a week.

I'm still not sure if that was a great part of my life or not, but I accomplished a lot.
In Diablo 2.

How the hell did you manage to write anything averaging only 2.4 characters per word?  And if you count spaces, only 1.4.

I'm not quite sure.
I think I fucked up those numbers, because I'm pretty sure I didn't spend 500 minutes typing as fast as I possibly could.

Hold on while I recalculate what that number should be.

12 hours = 720 minutes @ 50 (guess) = 36000 words.

That sounds a lot closer to what it should be, and no, I wasn't including spaces.

But I'm pretty sure my numbers are way off.
The fact that I said "characters" instead of "pages" serves as pretty good evidence that it's time for me to stop trying to think and go to bed. ;P

I probably won't want help until late February or so (one of the goals of the course is improvement, and I want to leave room for it).

If you really want to get away from pointless and stupid writing, I would suggest looking into one of the interdiciplinary writing courses offered at UW. They're ENGL 197/198/199, and they link a writing class that meets three hours a week, to a larger (usually 100-level) class. Right now I'm in 199, which is linked to Astronomy 101, and it's a great class. Much more focus is put on refining structure and improving paper clarity/cohesion, unlike the English 1x1 series, which mainly focuses on... bullshitting and over-elaborating/over-analyzing. Plus, it's one less hour a week for the same amount of credits, and you only have to maintain the knowledge of one subject area for both classes.
