- ORIGINAL POST -
This thread had to start some time. Although I've seen exactly zero people post that didn't already talk to eachother already, the aim is to have more people show up, right? Yes.
About me.
name: James
age: too old
how to find me: I'm 5'9 and half asian. Like everybody else at ACME, but whatever
I show up at ACME bowl every now and then.
I like DDR more than ITG for the most part but give both equal playtime, and also I play a lot of IIDX at home, it's a great game.
I am what can be generalized as a "scorer." That is, I play to get the highest score possible on everything.
My tag is "5DAI" on ITG/IIDX or "GODAI" on DDR usually. Sometimes other names if I feel like it.
I am a pretty darn good simfile maker (as judged by me) but don't make a whole lot due to time constraints. I take requests but they don't get fulfilled a lot for the same reason.
Nice to meet you.

My buddy loves the drums on RockBand. I never got expertly good at any of the Bemani games except for Taiko, DDR/ITG, some PiU and DJ Max Portable. I'd like to get better at Pop'n, but I don't want to shell out for the pricey controller and don't have an easy way to play any of the home versions of the game. I never got past Medium difficulty on Guitar Hero. Fun game, but I could never shift my hands from the first 4 colored fret buttons positions.

I thought guitar on Rock Band was fun, but once I finished the career on expert, I just didn't have the interest to improve or replay like I do with DDR/ITG. I got rid of all those kind of games except for my Beatles Rock Band, just because that one will never get old. My boyfriend recently got rocksmith though, and It looks interesting and actually constructive.
I never could get the hang of PIU. I discovered it quite awhile after I had become familiar with 4 panel games, so by the time I saw one and played my first time I wound up walking away forever calling PIU players deviants and monsters hahah

Oh, and I actually went to my arcade today and It's actually a stepmania machine now, not ITG.

Hello everyone!
About me:
Sarah
22
Started off playing DDR and have been playing for well over 10 years. Took my love for the games to the next level, working my way up in arcades to head technician and "Guardian of the Games".
I also am nuts about Guitar Freaks, Drummania, Pop'n, Tecnika, IIDX, Taiko Drum, DJ Ray Max (iphone "Tecnika") and various fighting games.
I recently moved to the Boise area from Sacramento, and have been rotting away in Boise because music games don't exist aside from the occasional SuperNova or Extreme DDR machine. I've been spending my time at a barcade called Grinkers, but they're mostly 70's - early 90's games (they do have a Street Fighter 2, original Mortal Kombat, Simpson's, and TMNT, which is the only real redeeming factor).
It's really refreshing to see a community still alive, and I can't wait to be a little more involved in the scene again!

Hi Sarah! Sorry we might be currently having a bit of a heated debate over some machine problems! We are indeed pretty active, and if you'd like to meet some of our local players, there are almost always people playing on Fri and Sat nights and throughout the day on the weekends (many weeknights also!) at Acme Bowl in Tukwila especially!
Anyway always a pleasure to have a new player. Hope to see you around!

Sounds like a blast! May be a little too far for a frequent thing, but I'll definitely keep my eye out!

Hi Sarah!
I moved to Portland from Boise!
I used to replay at Pojos a whole lot as well as at the edwards Supernova.
There was also an extreme at a bowling alley at Emerald Lanes, Used to be two extreme's at the BSU game room and a crap extreme at ice world.
Very surprised I never ran into you.
Music games are indeed dead over there, glad you found the community.

Sars, welcome to the forums. I was just in Boise a month ago for work and was sad to not see any arcades within Boise when looking at Z-i-V's location map.
Andy, Sars, are you saying there's more Idaho machines than what's listed at Z-i-V?

Ah, you are quite lucky to have escaped! Haha.
I've been going to Pojo's, but their pads are so hashed out and the employees are so rude I've been avoiding it the last couple months. Thanks for the tips! I'll have to check those out.

Thank you! Yeah, next you go, definitely find Grinkers. No music games, but a satisfyingly well maintained arcade nonetheless.
There are, and I plan to update them.
There's quite a few more. Heck, I saw one at a laundromat in Nampa! I'll be submitting to add all locations or whatever I'll need I do.

Yeah Sarah sadly Pojo's has gotten pretty bad over the years. It used to be THE spot to play dance games. There was a scene and 10 to 15 people would go on friday and saturday nights and play from 6 to close.
We started with extreme and convinced them to get SuperNova and SuperNova2
I even had a buddy who was the manager there and one of my close friends and partner in crime when it came to DDR sessions started working there. So we always had the pads in good shape and all issues were always taken care of.
Sadly no one is there to take care of it now and no one plays. The monitor is out of color and it's running extreme again. I managed some AAA's last time I was there on the left side but it's been a while. I did get the tech to adjust the monitor though, last time you could only see about half of the player 2 right arrow.
at Blues yeah there are quite a few locations not listed on Vanishers.
And maybe Sarah could help out with this.
Let me list locations and maybe she can verify some of them in the coming weeks
Pojo's : Extreme(while SN2 is down)
Emerald Lanes : I know they upgraded the arcade and last I was there the extreme was gone
Edwards at overland park : Has a SuperNova last I checked it was pretty beaten up and even had a cracked arrow.
Ice World: haven't been there in ages but pretty sure the extreme is gone
BSU game room : confirmed both machines are gone. It's now just couches and a projector monitor. Used to have two extreme machines.
Lastly for DDR
Big Al's Meridian : has DDR SuperNova Pump It Up Pro 2 and ReRave
Dave and Busters has Pump it up fiesta 2
You could also check the arcade across from Pojo's at chucky cheese.
I know they had a pump NX for years but I never went over there.
The arcade at Wahooz had a pump it up but i haven't been over there in a while either.
There is a lot to check out and with how much growth that place has i'm sure there are more hiding around. I just learned about that one in ontario just on the idaho oregon border.

From what I've seen:
Big Al's: Supernova (no other music games) $1.00
Wahooz: Pump It Up $0.75
Magestic Cinema: Extreme $0.50
Edwards Boise: Supernova $1.00
Edwards Nampa: Supernova $1.00
Dave and Busters: Pump It Up
There was a guy in Caldwell who put an arcade together, had everything on freeplay and only charged $2.50 for unlimited play for the whole month! It was pretty sad, and pretty poorly put together. He did have a DDR Solo 4th or 5th mix that was straight from Japan, but it was in ridiculously shoddy shape. He had a ParaPara and maybe one other music game that I don't remember being interested in because I'd never heard of it, as well as other common place games, but shortly after going there he closed doors. Can't say I didn't expect that since it was all on charity basis and he wasn't able to pay the rent.
I'll have to check out the rest you listed to confirm for sure.

That's terrible! The techs there now definitely don't know their heads from their asses, that is for sure. Left pad doesn't register at all (you have to stomp with all your might), and the right side is ok. I primarily play right side, so that doesn't affect me too bad. I had asked one of the techs to clean the sensors at least, and I was blown off. I've been able to get A's easy, but no hope for AA's as of right now.

you should go back to Big Al's they for sure have pump it up pro 2 and Rerave as well as supernova. I was just there not to long ago.
Sounds like there are a bunch of theaters that have them now that I didn't know about. I'm surprised that the arcade the the village theater doesn't have one.
if you have facebook look up Boise Dance/Rhythm Games and there is a small group of people that still play. Baron is one of the better players. Lately he's been playing more pump but he's still got it on DDR. I'd hit him up to play sometime.

As requested by BLueSS, I am posting to properly introduce myself to those who don't know me on a personal basis.
My name is Christopher Kim, I am 24 years old and I co-own the highest grossing Convenient Store/Deli/Gas Station in all of Thurston County. I live in University Place, WA roughly 5 minutes away from Narrows Bowl. I am super friendly and love to encourage others to push boundaries and reach new heights, not only in ITG but in life.
I've been playing ITG and DDR since 2004 and have been a part of the Arcade Goer/Supporter community for over 7 years.
Although I may not have been apart of this particular community, I have been around for a very long time and I have been playing off and on for a long time as well. My official dance game journey began at Narrows Bowl when I was 14 years old playing DDR Extreme, dying to pass So Deep.
As I made more of a frequent appearance at Narrows Bowl, I began making ties and friendships with those who also played dance/rhythm games. Being younger than most of the gamers at the Arcade, I generally stuck with my friends or played by myself.
I even met my soul mate playing dance games. Abbye, also goes by Rose on the forums, and I met at Narrows Bowl while playing DDR Extreme, and still to this day we are going strong and enjoying smashing arrows at ACME.
I remember when the player base at Narrows Bowl was enormous, filled with all levels of players. I remember the Arcade being so full at Narrows Bowl, I would walk over to Thrill Zone located across the street from Narrows to play at their arcade.
I'm sure most of you remember JJ, Justin, Quaz, Paul, Cnik, Foy, Amber and a few others that used to go to Narrows Bowl. I fondly remember playing Remember December (10) with Foy and just getting wrecked by him. I remember watching Kyle Ward beast on Keyboard Mania (or w/e it is called) and just being amazed! I played with JJ often enough to know that FA'ing was very important, since I got destroyed by him every time. I remember playing Zodiac with Abbye just barely making it through. I remember Foy beasting on 12's like Delerium, and watching Cnik near quad everything he played. It is moments like these that inspired me to become the player I am today. Moments like these have implanted a deep desire to become the best, to become one of the top contenders in this game, and I am still on that journey.
I've recent passed my first 18 Expert Chart on ITG and soon after passed my second. I am hoping to continue to get better and keep beasting when I can.
Evidently, most of you know that I am a huge supporter of the flushed stage idea. The idea of modernizing ITG. BLueSS and I have been talking on a personal level the last few days with regards to all the heat and drama that has been surrounding this issue. I wanted to re-emphasize some of the points that I've made to him with regard to our stance in this whole debacle.
I know that I haven't been a voice in this community until recently, and I know most of the older players disapprove of what me and my team have been doing to the ACME stage. I understand and acknowledge all the effort and time you've all invested in making ACME's machine what it is. We cannot thank you enough.
I know that many of the older generation want to hold on to a piece of nostalgia, hold on to a piece of your childhood, and hold on to the blood, sweat, and tears you've put into ACME's, machine. We, the new generation of ITG'ers are asking for the same opportunity that you've all had to push and explore the boundaries of ITG, to be able to put our blood, sweat, and tears into this machine. We want to be able to build upon the foundations you have so gracefully laid out, to be able to leave our legacy on this machine just like you have left yours. We want the opportunity to make mistakes and the chance to fix them. The phrase, "trial and error" come to mind and I'm confident that you, the older generation haved face obstacles to bring ITG to where it is today, just like us facing the uphill struggle to make ACME's stage the best around.
Your work will always remain untouched, unforgotten, and always appreciated, all we are asking for is the chance to be able to keep this game moving as you have kept it moving. You, the older generation of ITG'ers have brought the game this far and given us all the tools we need to continue your work and bring ITG into the future. We are asking for your cooperation and blessing to be able to work on the foundations you've built.
My team and I want nothing but the best for our community and want nothing more than to work together with you. Please give us a chance to make a difference in the dance game community as you have and difference in our community.

I guess I never really introduced myself here either...
Hi, I'm Taylor. I have been playing rhythm games off and on for 4 years.
Untill recently I played mostly stepmania and FFR on my keyboard at home. That was untill a half a year ago or so when I decided to buy a foam dance mat and see how far I could take my skillz. After that broke, I decided to try out the arcade scene and found that this website existed. I was quite amazed that there was an actual community right where I was located that was into rhythm games. (What Luck :O)
So yeah, I tried a few of the DDR machines in my area and found them a lot less sensitive and clunkier than my soft pad at home. I looked to see if maybe there were any better machines in my area and lo and behold I tried ACME. On my first visit I saw Chris and Abbye playing a 15 and pretty much noped out of there. When I finally did decide to introduce myself I was embaressed, but they were friendly and allowed me to play lowly 9's and 10's. I was amazed at how responsive the pads were and that they allowed me to minimize my movement much more than other ones.
On my softpad I could only clear most 9's and a few 10's. Fast forward a month and I am now playing 11's and 12's at ACME and having a blast!
Oh and I love making music in my favorite software ever: FL Studio
Anyways, thats my story
