Excellent! I'll get it started with the upright cabs at acme, and eventually we can roll Zach into the Stock Car Challenge machine! All we have to do then is simply remove him from the arcade, and no one will ever have to suffer the agonizing retards who play on it!

Interesting point, Kevin. Bill has continually said that Stock Car Challenge is one of the top producers there at ACME. Removing it would likely cause his internal revenue to plummet from this location, which would in turn bar further upgrades that we so desire. (Also, rolling up the SCC would mean Zach would forever be trapped in the arcade- he would never fit out the doors!)
Sounds to me like the ideal solution is one of those "bemani separators" that they have in Japan to isolate the sound from one game to the next. Haha, Bill, have you ever seen those things around from your distributor?

I really don't see how Stock Car Challenge making money helps us get new upgrades. All it does is say to Acme that "Wow, games like this are huge earners, let's get more of these!" and "Man, that game with the turntable is earning jack shit... why the hell do we keep it around?" If Stock Car makes $500 a week and IIDX makes $50 a week, would it make any business sense to spend the money on a newer IIDX? I assume that Acme's employees don't know that the income would likely rise.
Also, Zach probably could get out of the arcade. I assume that he could pick up the windows on the side of the arcade, and then the doors, and go out that way. And I think the designers would at least make the walls come in segments, as to not to make it impossible to get out.

Thank you for playing. No further reading required. You may wish to review simple business logic. If the business prospers, the customers prosper. OR, the alternate past has Bill making really good bemani knock-offs for free in his warehouse.
Also, this thread is getting more off topic, are the new guys going to introduce themselves or what?

This is a good idea. Though personally I've never had issues with the sound at either arcade for the DM machines (I assume we're discussing largely the DDR and ITGs here). At Narrows the only probs I have with sound are when kids are playing that one ticket machine which is so ridiculously close to the DM machine's right side.
Anyhow, I digress. Those seperators are pretty useful and even mobile. Problem is, I get the feeling some nutcases will move them where they ought not belong (or try to steal them, since they're easy to roll around), even though they're still mighty hefty.
Metroid has a point but so does Tada. I think if SCC is making the bucks, then the arcade will overall be more profitable and new machines can be added in/upgrades can be made. However, if that income is being largely generated from a machine like SCC, it at the same time discourages arcade owners to upgrade in the direction of the lesser-earning machines. Luckily, since we have Bill, we can rest assured that the decision on the kinds of upgrades and new cabinets is not entirely left in ACME's management's hands.

@Met
Yeah, I was just joking around. I don't really have a problem with it being there.

Yeah, I don't either actually. It is a little annoying sometimes, but I get way more annoyed at the people who play the racing game next to IIDX and set their stuff (drinks, etc.) on the 2p side while I'm playing :(

I have never seen one of these Bemani seperators. WTF? Sounds pretty cool. Chris should have brought us one when he came back from Japan. :-)
Tada, see Metroids post above. Each location has it's own budget. The more total dollars in equals new machine dollars allocated to that location going out. Common sense business stuff.
Everyone: Acme management does not have much to say in regard to what comes in new, they let us handle that. But when they see something not producing, they do like to see change come to keep the revenue per square foot up. SCC does appeal to the average Joe that walks in with their family. It's revenue builds quickly when a family has all four stations running for 3.00. But look for it to get rotated towards this fall I would guess, as the new racing and fighting games start to come in. Coming June or July, Maximum Tune and Initial D 4. ID4 will be on the worldwide real time race competition system with the Sega All-Net.
Oops, I guess I went way off topic here. Forgive me, or shoot me.

IDFOURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Please, please,
please
don't pull a Gameworks (not stocking up your machine's card supply and eventually replacing them with shitty knockoffs that don't print right). Not that I ever thought you would. Expect me to quit bemani for all of 5 days when ID4 arrives.

Bill, you might be able to get those seperators for fairly cheap whenever you import something from Japan. Ask about them; if I recall they tend to have the Konami logo on them (or the Bemani logo) so if you make a big deal you could convince the vendor you're dealing with to throw them in for free or something. They're useful cuz you can put them inbetween the machines when people aren't sessioning (or when a DDR and ITG cabinet are blaring side by side) then roll them out of the way (or into a nook) when session is happening. Very versatile.

I'll make sure to see if I can pick some of those up for Kumoricon. Noise pollution there will be hell with 2 PS2 DDR setups, 1 ITG PS2 setup, 1 PIU PS2 setup, a beatmania PS2 setup, a PPP ps2 setup, a multitude of GH setups, and a 7-speaker StepMania machine. (I'm providing, like, most of that list, by the by)

Well, you will only need to change your pants when going to Narrows. Acme will get the old Narrows version 1 cabinet. Narrows is getting a spankin new version 3, along with ID4.

So I designed a Katamari controller.
I'll probably build one some time.
Basically, you roll a ball on a podium.
It's pretty amazing.
