I actually think if/when I get a DDR cab I want to attempt to put in a 27" Sony. Seems like a brilliant idea to me.

found a 34" on craigslist in my area that is pretty overpriced.  thinking that an lcd around that size would be nice.  keeping in mind that the top half of my cab is non existent  because of a shipping mishap

Well fsck, that changes everything. I thought you were trying to find a replacement monitor to fit within the housing of your cabinet.

Get the largest flatscreen screen you can afford! I personally LOVE my plasma, but those are usually much more expensive than LCD.

Edit: Does your system let you adjust the global offset syncing like Stepmania? If NOT, then I definitely would stay away from LCD TV's, as the video lag will make the sound feel way off to what you see on screen. If you CAN adjust this in the game's settings, any TV should be fine.

Well, I have a dedicab, so I would try to grab the Sony I mentioned above to keep it inside my cabinet. However, if you have the option of getting anything, I would try to get a Plasma (no video lag on those), but if cheapness is important, I'd grab a nice CRT flat screen TV off Craigslist if you can have it sit on your cabinet.

Not necessarily true. Visit http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/ for an accurate display lag list. Many LCDs outperform plasmas in this regard.

As for a CRT, keep in mind that most consumer HD CRTs have some display lag. It won't matter too much for Pump because the timing windows are giant (even on Pro) but you might want to keep that in mind.
