I've noticed that a lot of popularity seems to be leaning toward a 1600's-1700's style of Cultured Elegance.  It seems like Ballroom/Baroque are becoming increasingly more mainstream musical interests, and the Gothic-Lolita styles remain popular in Japan and seem to be growing into a more sophisticated style in the US.

What are other peoples' thoughts?  It seems to be largely a counter-culture movement, which I find interesting.
