I've been out of the mod-chip thing since I modded my PS 1 years back and was hoping some of you could help me with some feedback.
I have a PS2 slim (I don't know what version #, I'll check when I get home). I was looking to get this Mod Chip because I suck nutz at soldering anything.

My question is this; it says it will work for a PS2 Slim, that's great. But will anything be sticking out or externally different about the system? Those slims are tiny things and I'm amazed to think you could cram those extra cables into it without a problem.
Has anyone used this mod chip or have any experience with it? Your input is highly appreciated.

There is an identical thread in the Bemani Discussion board.
Anyway, I think that the mod chip should work. DMS modchips are usually very reliable.
PROTIP: Order the Pro version of that modchip. It has some flash memory that you can store ELFs on, which might be useful if you wanna run HDLoader (or the ELF-only ToxicLoader) or ARMAX without the discs.

God I feel like such a dumbass when that other thread was RIGHT there and I didn't see it. I do have one more quick question, what the hell does this mean?

I basically want to throw an import disc into my PS2 and have it work...what would I need this fancy homebrew stuff for? Or more importantly...what does it do?

HDLoader is a program that lets you run games off of your PS2's hard drive (and yes, slims do support hard drives. You just have to do a case mod). ARMAX is a Gameshark-type program that will let you backup saves onto a USB drive and such. It is notoriously shaky when run off of discs, and an ELF file of it usually works better.
So to sum it all up, you don't really need this stuff, but it is totally worth the extra $10 or whatever.
