yeah the replaced the monitor so it lags pretty badly, and even before they replaced the monitor it lagged really badly so it's double bad. I think the computer is just dying and the whole thing needs to be cleaned and updated. Pads have always been good somehow.

I was there a few weeks ago. I played Pop 4 on the DDR cab. It was pretty good. I got one pad miss on the 2P side, but otherwise it was nice. The monitor is a widescreen instead of the original 4:3 ratio. This messed me up a bit. Overall it was a decent machine, but a bit pricey. I didn't play ITG since my traveling companions were already bored as hell by the time I finished Pop4.

yeah back when the DDR had it's original CRT it was arguably one of the best public Extreme's I had played on in years. It's just sad knowing that dedicab is going to die soon.

I actually have my sights on a different dedicab, I'd only buy that cab if they sold it cheap. The replaced monitor, dying CP and wobbly bars don't exactly inspire confidence. At this point the only thing it has going for it is the pads which don't really matter much when the game lags and crashes constantly. It would just take a LOT of work to fix it and even then it wouldn't be 100%. You'd have to either find a Pump monitor or do they Sony Trinitron swap, then you'd have to replaced or update the PC which both of those things could cost a lot, and then you'd have to hope that cab isn't totally rusty inside the pads.

Hey everyone! I'm Chris, and I'm visiting Cannon Beach for a few days at the end of June and am thinking about checking out FunLand to play some Extreme. I'd likely go with my brother Kevin (used to go by MegaManX in the day), so if you're interested in meeting up let me know! He'd probably prefer to play ITG2, but it looks like the machine is not worth touching... :\
And, just to be sure: the machine is in pretty good condition, right? From the comments it seems that the worst thing about it is the monitor. Is it much different from a CRT? I don't think I've ever played Extreme on a widescreen.
Another thing: would it be worth the 90-minute drive to play on the Laserport machine? We'd probably prefer playing on that, if it's in good condition.

Kevin eh? I still have some of his scores on my cabinet. I don't think anyone is ever going to knock those off. =D
I am definitely not at his level of play, but I thought the Extreme machine at Seaside was good. Not the best, but not terrible either. If the purpose of your trip is just to play dance games, then perhaps going elsewhere is recommended (I'll let the locals cover where are the best places), but if you're in Seaside for a trip or vacation, then I felt that a few rounds on the cabinet were not a waste.

Chris I worked on the Lazer Port cab. It has a lot of customs and is running simply love but the pads really aren't that great. Haven't been out there in months to check on it but it needs an over haul. Most of the well maintained cabs are in garages in the greater Portland area. Quarter World just got a new Extreme cab here but I haven't even been out to play on it. IF you guys want a good sesh just PM me.
