This whiny shit in the DDR community is what pisses people off. C'mon. It's fucking 50 cents. If anyone should be complaining it's me because I returned a few bucks worth of bottles to play today. And there are many other games for 25 cents there that are just as entertaining as DDR (moreso actually). DDR is just kind of a waste of money, to be honest. At most places you pay to play on shitty pads where you keep getting the same shitty scores over and over and over and over and over and over and fucking over again.  You can also begin to question the legitimacy of playing extreme (or most other DDR games) in a competitive manner at all. Ever since I started playing again I really question why I bother every time I step off the machine. I digress.  Be grateful, because it used to be that we'd never have tournament type things at ALL. Oh well. I'm done with this unorganized late night rant.

I think the biggest problem was the fact that the pads there were even worse than Wunderland's.

Also, I wouldn't know; do arcade machines have an event mode?
'cause that's what we'd need for tourneys.  Seriously, after you calculate exactly what we paid just to play + the entry fee, we probably paid significantly more than it would have cost to have them turn on free play (and event mode, if possible).  My biggest suggestion is that, next time, we make sure we have a solid tournament plan prior to even deciding to have a tournament.

Oh also, it was really hard to calculate scores with the timer, and it also resulted in me playing .59 (which I lost miserably) instead of Sexy Planet (which I probably would have done fairly well on) against BBH because the timer was down to 3 seconds so I just found a 7 and hit the button.

They do have an event mode. Which is pretty much free play.
Guys, if you really want a tourney go up to WA. DDR is dead down here and anyone who is actually good doesn't seriously play anymore. Sorry to rain on your parade, but there is no reason why we should half ass tournaments.

And you guys might want to consider toning your behaviour down a bit. To be frank, some of the stuff that was being done / said was sort of embarrassing and I really don't think DDR players need the bad rep. not only that, but it makes everyone (including arcade operators) take us a lot less seriously. A few funny jokes / singing is cool, but some of that shit was pretty fucking juvenile. It really makes me want to go to get togethers less if anything. i dunno. My 2 cents.

Sorry about that, that may have been the time I was playing Raiden II and got called to go up there. Next time we're at the arcade, we need to settle it with a round of Sexy Planet Oni just to see what would have happened? I'm pretty sure I would have done ok on it too seeing how I've AAA'ed it, but I guess you never know  

On to the other matters at hand. I'm not exactly sure what the "juvenile" stuff was, but I will say that I most definitely do not appreciate people loudly imitating the songs or making other distracting remarks when people are trying to play. Yes it's just for fun, but I REALLY do not appreciate when someone is doing things to disrupt my concentration, ya know?

Truth be told, I wasn't really gung ho about a tournament. Unless it's a tournament with exciting rules or challenges in place, there's really not much motivation for me to play in one. As I've stated before many times, my skill level has plateaued a long time ago and I know I can't hang with the top players around here. Why waste money when I know that the outcome will not result in me winning it? Sure, flukes do happen, but still (there's no way I deserved 3rd place when Wes is clearly a better player than me). I totally understand why Matt didn't want to play in the tournament. Things would probably be more interesting if we had a larger turnout, but that's not going to happen.

The other problem I have is that a tournament practically requires people to be hanging around the DDR machine the entire time. That might be okay in other arcades, but when I'm at Ground Kontrol, I *DON'T* want to spend all my time at the fake arrow smashing game. I've been playing DDR for 6 years now, and Extreme is 4 years old. GK is one of the best classic arcades in the country, with a shitload of games you can't find anywhere else in Portland. I guess it's because I'm so old that I tend to have more respect for the classics, but yeah. I like the idea of get-togethers at GK, I just don't like the idea of playing nothing but DDR the entire time. When all is said and done, I'm glad I played in the tournament just for the fact that I pulled a random AAA out of my ass, but I probably won't be playing in another one.

I would like to say that the GK staff did not appreciate the gratituous use of the word "nigger" with the frequency it was used.

Yeah. I was definitely trying to be creative. Just calling it like it is: whining, obnoxious, and getting old fast. I also totally held a tournament to validate how good I had become, knowing pretty damn well that I'd lose to someone that hadn't played in about a year. I did it for the fun factor and for the fact that I haven't played in one since fucking July.

1) Whatever. That lady who left probably left because we were having a tournament and was not about to get another game in. And it's not like you weren't contributing; I could hear you scream "motherfucker" from the toilet in the mens room, behind two doors and one story down. :/ Not to mention the fair share of naughty swears and loud noises, etc.

well I had never been to or in a turney with acule players. I just wanted fun. no they arent dead they just went to sleep for a while, there offspring will pick up the slack. and I asked the lady yeah she wanted one game and her man wanted to go, simple as that.

I think if we have a turney we need to get it staitened out, mybe put a few flyers up so we can get the word out. you know there are lots of players out there we just need to find them. by the time we are ready to have another turney I think we could get like 6 more people and yes charlse are machine will be so much better we can sware all we like lol for eal yo.

0: It doesn't matter who you play in DDR. In DDR you play against yourself, not others. You don't affect the other players game. It's not a competition until the results screen. The game itself isn't competitive, just the scoring result that ensues post song. If it's not competitive, then how is it really "playing" against the opponent? Reevaluate what you deem as competitive. Maybe you are too incompetent to do that, so whatever.
1: Our tourney should not prevent people from playing. I said "Fuck" once very loud when played battle garegga. I wasn't that liberal with my language. My swears were fairly quiet, and I wasn't the one people complained about. Your behavior at roccos was completely unnacceptable. Matt, you have like 25 on era which I've AAA'd and 15+ on Fantasy Melissa which I've flagged. I don't even believe half of your AAA's since you have no proof of them and most of them are just ridiculous, like getting Leading Cyber and Ecstasy oni within your first 10 (not sure about LC being that early but whatever). Also, if we're just going by recall, I have like 1000 dp over you.

And you're right, there's no point in arguing past this point, you don't even give half of a shit about this community anymore yet continue to criticize every orifice of the way we play competitively.

1) How old are those again? Most of my scores are two years old. Like before that Drop the Bomb score i got (and fucked up) I had 32 on it. That was not a good score, but just an example.  Leading Cyber and E-Oni are fairly easy AAA's. You just can't play anything that isn't a big 1/8 or 1/16th run. And I whore songs. A lot. (Used to while I still played seriously lol). If it makes you feel better, I'll even delete my recall. That way you can feel better about your shitty accomps. I still will stand by my scores either way.

I hit pads hard to hear my own feet to make sure I'm on beat (hard to do in DDR because everything is off I walk off because it's not worth my time. One I start, I can't pick a song, and usually just get angry because I don't practice enough to get halfway decent scores anymore.  You were loud, rude, and obscene?
