lol... so Tilt has DDR X now. Fear not, the ITG2 is still there. (Dance Freaks too!)

$1 / 3 songs, Double Premium
had unlock level MAX on the title screen, and a build date of... 20090723 or something? not sure if that's the newest.

I played a few games on it and had no issues with the pads. No dropped freezes, any misses I got were legitimately my fault. If what's been said about DDR X cabinets is true, this may be short-lived so enjoy the pads while they last!

And the screen lag... well it's a little odd but not unplayable. I managed to get like 8 Greats on some song I'd never heard or seen before, which is pretty good by my standards nowadays. I could see it being bad for Marvelous Attacking, but it's not like it's impossible to AA stuff.

I dunno, I was expecting it to be worse but it's pretty playable as it is right now.

I played it, really liked it. I dare say it makes the ITG 2 machine look dated, but this is coming from a non technical player who plays for fun. Nothing I could see wrong except the announcer getting on my nerves.

"GET THE WAX OUT OF YOUR EARS! GET THE CRUST OUT OF YOUR EYES!"

The announcer is great.  For fun try to count all the different racial stereotypes he makes/imitates.

Oh quick question for next time; there's a pending update on DDR Freak's machine database mentioning a Drummania 10th mix. Last time I was there I quickly scanned for any other interesting machines but didn't notice one.

Did I just not look hard enough? Tongue

Of course there's no Drummania, people screw up the "add a machine" part of DDRFreak's machine location thing all the time.

I think Pump Pro 2 made me instantly lose a lot of hype for DDR X. Too spoiled by the wonderful pads on Pump, the arrows on DDR X cabinets are so friggin small. And well, turns out I can never really truly find the sweet spot for the timing, I still end up getting Greats all over the place. Oh well.

Just FYI, sad news: The ITG2 cab has been bought apparently (I heard it was bought  by the arcade owner) and it's going bye bye for good. Should be here through the end of this week. =(

So we know the person that owns the ITG2 upgrade machine for this location. AND I was just here sunday in passing and the player 2 side for the DDRX was perfect.

Is it true that place closed?  As much I disliked Tilt and their employees that never gave a crap it's still sad to see a major arcade shut it's doors.

I really wish I'd gotten a chance to visit Tilt one more time before it closed. Granted I haven't been around in Portland as long as some folks, but it was the first place I met a lot of people in the dance game scene when I moved here in late 2005. Besides the ITG2 I ended up spending a lot of time there playing 3rd Strike and KOF XI, back when fighting game players in Portland actually went to the arcade. Lotsa good times.

Is Tilt going bankrupt or something? They've closed a ton of locations.

In this case the closure was related to the mall changing owners. The same thing happened to Nordstrom.
