It is all partially true.  Yes, there will be a Big Als in Oregon.  Yes, it will also feature a large arcade.  However, the game selection is likely to vary, rather than copy the other site.  It will be a fresh start.

Yeah there's no way they would have the exact same games. And who really wants to pay $1.10 for pre-patch Supernova 1?

Big Al's apparently markets heavily toward the masochist demographic.

I do think we have a great chance of getting an iteration of PIUP due to the development community having a strong base in both Vancouver and Portland. Seeing how the team has already developed a relationship with the other location I'd wager on getting PIUP of some sort.

Cheesy Possibility of a PIU and/or DDR machine about 2 blocks away from my apartment
Angry Cost per game of said machines
Cheesy Something to actually do in southern Beaverton
Angry I'll be moving out of my current apartment by August 2010 and probably to somewhere further away from the location
Cheesy Still will be faster & less annoying than having to go down town

If this place has any good dance machines, I could see myself spending lots of time there

Only problem is, Kyle Ward (who lives minutes away from Vancouver BiGals) isn't involved with PIU Pro 2. Anything's possible but I dunno.

I imagine the business relationship with BigAl's didn't end with him either.

Go figure that I'm going to college the month after this would open.  Goddammit Oregon.

Is there a game list for the new location yet?  I'll get hype when I know PIU is there for sure (I know it's likely, but hasn't been "officially" confirmed yet)
I'd be up for checking out the location any time during the week.  Otherwise I figure my Rock Band friends would go and check it out on the next Saturday.

If you can't wait, sign up for our Sneak Peak Party this Thurs. For $15 you'll get the VIP treatment: free bowling, dinner, 2 drink tickets, free video games, a $5 FUN card and the right to say "I SAW IT FIRST!" 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce, Beaverton Police Foundation and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue! 3 great causes... ONE BIG EVENT! Space is limited: www.beaverton.org

And then the price is $25 at the door.
I'm highly tempted to go to this since I have nothing else going on on Thurs.  Anyone else interested?

$15 for 4 hours eh... going by Vancouver prices that could actually end up being sort of a bargain lol

hmmmmm

You get that $5 card, too.. so it's more like $10 for 4 hours.

Man, this place has been in Vancouver the entire time?  I've sure been missing out.  ;_;

alright so

this place has Pump It Up Pro 2. brand new cab, just arrived there a couple days before the sneak peek event.

Problem - There was this constant horrible screen stuttering. I'm not sure what causes it but it was apparently a known issue but the game was rushed out. BOO (Kristina) said there is already a patch for this and she had it on her USB stick, but they couldn't apply it yet. (maybe because the USB slots also didn't seem to be working? Although I only tried the 1P side... maybe it didn't like my old USB stick but it worked fine with the Pro 1 cab in Vancouver...)

They also have a DDR Supernova 2. Upgrade cab. We got the machine unlocked up to level 6, just need the MAX unlock in as we didn't have the code. The 1P Up arrow is really weak, schlagwerk said the 2P side is fine.

Don't know prices for these games yet obviously because it was free play. It's likely they'll match the Vancouver prices of $1.10 for 3 songs on both cabs.

The rest of the arcade has a lot of the same games as the Vancouver location. Notable things are Guitar Hero Arcade, Deadstorm Pirates, 4-player Tank! Tank! Tank!, 2-player H2Overdrive, Terminator Salvation, Mocap Boxing, Time Crisis 4 (in awful condition), Mario Kart GP, Iron Man pinball, Donkey Kong 3-in-1 and Galaga/Ms. Pacman, etc. And lots and lots and lots and lots of redemption games.

Overall this makes me really excited to get back into dance games despite my lack of stamina, assuming they will in fact have some half-price nights. Getting to Vancouver on a Wednesday night isn't really worth the trouble for me, but this is like 15 minutes away from me.

There was also 2 Mario Kart GP, 4 the Fast & the Furious cabs if yer into those games.

I didn't get to play on 1P side on SN2 after BBH did.  I played on it earlier that night and had no problems with the up arrow, but it wouldn't surprise me if it got worse during the night.
PIU Pro 2 is enough to keep me going back. Now excuse me as I pour one on the curb for all the old PIU licensed songs that are now gone. Here's to Valenti, Esse para mi, La Cubanita, Dignity, Starian, Circus Magic, anything else I'm forgetting, and possibly anything by Deux.

Are we turning this topic into the official Big Al's Beaverton location thread?  I rate the place a 4.  The only thing keeping it from a 5 is the cost of the games.  Anything over $1 for a new dance game (like PIU Pro 2) is too much in my book, but overall Big Al's prices seemed comparable to other barcades like Dave & Busters or Gameworks.

Out of curiosity, did anyone else manage to rape that one Galactix (sp?) machine for tickets?

This is after using our $10 we got from entering.

So, I should be there for quite a while tonight doing SN2 and PIU, it's been too long since I've played Sunkiss Drop!  Smiley

PIU Pro 2's video stuttering problem is fixed and USB now works.  It's $1.25 a game and $1.08 VIP
SuperNova 2 is still lv.6 since I forgot the lv.MAX unlock code at work.  It's also $1.25/1.08

Almost tempted to drop the rating to a 3 due to the costs.. I mean the game are still over $1 per play with a VIP card!

:\

Well, going by their website it does look like they will be doing half price on Wednesdays after 6. Also all "summer" long on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday they do half price from 3-6 and 9-close.

I might stop by on Wednesday to play a little but I'm not 100% sure yet

Not only is there half price Wednesday from 6 to close, there's also:

"Join us all summer long for Arcade Happy Hour. Monday-Thursday 3:00PM - 6:00PM & 9:00pm-Close. Video Games 50% off. Redemption Games 25% off."

I think I can fit my DDRing into those hours and into the 'Wacky Wednesday', and that'll make their prices bearable.  My only hope is that there's less annoying teenagers next time I come, hopefully it was only this bad because of the whole grand opening thing (Yeah I know I sound old and mean Tongue)

EDIT: BBH beat me to it >_<
