Just last wednesday the 5th they replaced their old DDR Extreme with a different one! The old one was one they were borrowing for a while, but they finally bought their own cabinet.

I know this isn't too important in your everyday lives, but since all the high scores aren't there anymore... I thought this would be a good time for me to set them all before Ethan got back.
Competition, please?

Machine specs/ first test by my estimations:
Right right side works VERY well.
Left side might have a slight problem of dropping L/R jump holds, but is probably just me. Down arrow may also be slightly funky. Also probably just me.
The game takes an Extreme-ly long time to load songs/ register tokens you put in. It can take anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds to load a song, and fifteen seconds to count your second quarter.
Monitor display is slightly color-warped at top. Doesn't affect gameplay, though.
Screws in pad are rusty and gross. Get in the way of bracket-raping. I would advise not licking the pad.
Sound is very nice, louder and clearer than on the other machine.

Conclusion: new machine is better than the old one. Go set new high scores on it.

no memory card slots, though. so I dunno about what's going on with the whole high-score taking thing.

I've seen machines that took forever to load songs, but not ones that took forever to register credits. How bizarre. Of course before GK's old machine I'd never seen one that refused to load 95% of the song backgrounds...

A machine without a blown speaker and one side that actually works well sounds fantastic, though.

Wow. I didn't even travel upstairs last night to look at it.  I just remember glancing at the machine at some point in the night and noticing all the marquee spotlights were working and thinking that was odd

Not like I would've been able to hear it over Rock Band if I had tried to play it

Hi everyone! Anthony, co-owner of Ground Kontrol here.

Thanks for the feedback on our new DDR cabinet! We're very happy to have one with complete lights, animation and sound. Sorry about the long loading times, we'll speed it up if we can. The delayed credit drops are a bit of a mystery, though; I'll check that out.

That may have been true of the old DDR machine, but the new one has much better sound. Give it a try! We've started telling the Rock Band guys to keep it down, too. Wink

No problem. Thanks for letting us know how our DDR is performing; I don't rock those pads nearly as hard as you guys do! Huh

I'm gonna take you up on that, Anthony.  Just don't surprised when you're calling for Dan Halen and I'm upstairs on DDR  ;P

I tried it out a while back.  Threw down a couple high scores on doubles to populate the boards.  Hopefully Wesley or Sean can stop by and knock those down some time soon.

It still feels really tight in that corner back there, and I noticed the fan wasn't actually plugged in.  Granted, this was a while ago, so the fan may have been plugged in since then, but I doubt it's less of a tight fit in that corner.  It makes doubles really awkward, especially no-bar.
