My local hang out Sunset Lanes traded in their Extreme for a SN2 cab.  They're finishing some renovations and took out the pool tables in the game area for more arcade games.  I stopped in to play this morning on the way home from work and was greeted by a large blue machine.  The area is still taped off but the bowling attendant says it should be open on Thursday.

I'd like to throw out a quick defense of the songlist.  The initial new songlist is pretty crappy, but there are a lot of good unlockables.  This doesn't make the machine any better, but I certain enjoy playing the charts on StepMania.

I'll defend the song list. With every release there have always been stupid songs. Eventually the popular ones become classics, and move on with the next new release. Each new release gets rid of the songs no one liked, and adds new ones. The new ones are either popular or they're not. But of course Konami is retarded and some of the good songs don't continue on. Maybe one day we can look forward to a greatest hits DDR mix where they actually have a vote for what songs will go on it.

As far as SN2 goes, I think there are a few good songs to start out, but the rest of them need to be unlocked.

So anyway, I played down in Naha the other day, and Paranoia Hades finally got unlocked. Of course I didn't last probably more than 30 seconds, but wow, thats an impressive chart to say the least. I'll get it eventually though. I did however pass Pluto on my last song. I think its the final final boss song. The way it worked here was for your last song a new song would be unlocked temporarily until it was permanently unlocked. Then there was a new boss song. Pluto, Paranoia Hades, Trip Machine Phoenix, and NGO were the different ones that either unlocked on extra stage or final stage. But now everything has been unlocked except Pluto on final stage.

Are any of the machines in the states joint premium? The SN2 I play on has this option. Its really nice to play doubles or 2 player for the price of one. This only works in popular areas though, because in a given day, only so many games could be played if the machine was occupied all day. So this way, more people are satisfied by the machine, which brings in more customers at the same time. Acme is a place this could work.

Joint Premium seems to be much more common in Japan than it is in the US. I've played on a total of maybe 3 or 4 machines in my life that had JP on. One of which was actually a local arcade that I played at a lot when I lived in Texas...

I just don't think most arcades want 2 people playing for the price of one. It would've been better if they'd had a separate Double Premium option like ITG, since it'd be easier to convince an arcade op to turn that one at least, but alas.

Supernova 2 does have a double premium mode. It will tell you on the main screen if it's enabled.

I think it's more like it is disabled at default and most arcade operators don't even know it exists. And even then they'd prolly leave it off because it lowers the amount of money per hour the machine can make.

I understand why they wouldn't want 2 people playing for the price of one, but doubles premium should be turned at least be turned on. Doubles isn't played too often for the simple reason that nobody wants to pay twice as much to basically start learning how to play all over again. It would be nice if there was a way to switch in between doubles and regular mode too, like in PIU.

People like to preach to the choir here...    Cheesy

Now, to find a way for us to control all the DDR machines and change the settings to the way that would benefit us most.

That almost happened a while ago. That didn't work out so well for Bill. Remember?

Joint Premium = JP = Japan
It's the only explanation there is, only explanation you need.

Kyrandian: you spelled "da" wrong.

Zeppy: you know you laugh when you look to my moon.

I just lost The Game.
Not SuperNOVA2, my copy of SN2 is sitting on my shelf gathering dust next to SuperNOVA.

What an f'ing TEASE!
I stopped by for a quick few rounds of SN2 since I was nearby and was surprised to find the machine still looking practically new and the volume now turned up to a respectable level (not blaring, but you can now hear the music).
1P's left arrow has 2-3 dead sensors and you really have to smash it to get it to register.  Mostly unplayable
2P's down arrow is stuck on most of the time. I didn't even bother to play a song since I couldn't even set the difficulty to Expert due to the arrow

With the forthcoming 2nd unlock code for SN2 about to be released, its a real shame the pads are busted as the location is conveniently near my work

I just passed by Sunset during lunch today and they're running a deal in the arcade: Half-price games Mon-Thurs 6pm-10pm
That makes SN2 37.5c (?) a game... if it works

I stopped by here the other day, had a better experience with the machine than I had in the past. Volume is adequate right now, and had zero pad misses playing on the 1P side (didn't bother playing on 2P).

I also managed to get the machine unlocked up to LV.4. I'll try to get the last two in whenever I go next. (the LV.2 code was such a fucking pain in the ass...)

Also they have Guitar Hero AC now, at the amazing ripoff price of $1 / 1 song, rofl

I take it that's where that AAA came from?

Maybe I should check out that machine at the Town Center again some time.  Maybe they've finally fixed the pads lol.

Oh. I thought you said you couldn't get the unlock codes in

The machine volume seems to change drastically at Sunset Lanes. Either they turned it up since they now have GH AC or the perceived volume is greatly effected by how many people are bowling and creating background noise

Not totally awesome.  Tiny arrows SUCK.. well, maybe only for the person playing...

EDIT: Also to comment on the condition.  Volume is now at a good level, 1P's pads are excellent, 2P's left is dropping inputs/only has 1 sensor, and 2P side has a horrible screen glare from an overhead light.
So great location for playing Single on 1P side
Quick comment on the Guitar Hero Arcade machine: video lag lololol
