- ORIGINAL POST -
So, I have basically been storing my arcade ITG 2 dedicab in my apartment for the last 2 years and I am now moving to a new place at the end of June. I am trying to figure out what to do with it. I am deciding between these 3 options
1) Sell it (probably for a loss, but could hopefully get quite a bit for it). Not my top choice
2) Find a place to set it up for personal use (someone's house, etc). Could work
3) Find a place to set it up and charge for it (currently thinking Avalon Wonderland)
I feel bad as it hasn't been played in the past 2 years. My new apartment won't even have room to store it and I don't want to put it in a storage unit. I would rather sell it and let someone get use out of it. Although I really want to be able to play it, as I would play it a lot if I had it set up.
I am open to suggestions from this community to try and find a place for it. Let me know what your ideas are. If I do set it up somewhere to charge, I really want it to be a place where it won't get abused, although not sure if I can find a place like that.
Let me know what you guys (and girls) think.

Of course I have a vested interest in this as someone who enjoys playing quite a bit, but I vote for option #3 as this area can always use more DDR/ITG machines. I think putting the machine in one of the Wunderland arcades would probably be your best bet. A lot of other arcade-minigolf-combo places around here treat their arcades as an afterthought and let the customers really abuse the machines. This is not the case with Wunderland, they actually employ their own techs and clean the machines daily, etc. I'd also suggest Ground Kontrol, but they already have a DDR machine and I don't think they'd wanna fill up more space with a second dancing game.
In addition, Wunderland seems to have recently changed owners (I hear the previous owner just died) so they'd probably be more willing/open than before to new ideas and new machines. I have some contacts in one of the Wunderlands, so if you want I can forward your contact info to one of the higher up manager types (just email/PM me).

All I can say is good luck. I also own a ITG2 dedicab and I haven't found a single location willing to do any kind of hosting deal with me. Luckily my friends and I who are the owners have space in our houses and garages, but we originally wanted to put it in a public place for players to enjoy. However, after months of searching and countless phone calls, I haven't been able to even get CLOSE to finding a public place to share our machine with. In my experience, no one is interested in doing business with someone who only has 1 arcade machine to offer and doesn't carry their own insurance for liabilities.
I know that revenue sharing can be done, because I've seen it done in many arcades. But my experience so far in western Washington has been less than spectacular.

Suko,
What arcades did you contact? That doesn't give me too much hope but good to know what I will be up against.

I would try contacting Portland State University. They might be interested in setting up a cabinet somewhere in their new Recreational Center, which has a lot of room. They showed interest in having dancing games before, but they just didn't have room.

Funtasia Family Fun Center, Brunswick Majestic Lanes, Robinhood Lanes, Lynnwood Bowl and Skate, Power Play, Evergreen Lanes, and at least 2 or 3 others I don't even remember. Most of these are bowling alleys, because we don't really have any arcades up near Everett. None of them even seemed half-interested in talking with me about it. =\

thanks suko. already started calling places and getting the same type of answers which is not a good sign. I really don't want to put this in a storage unit and would much rather find a good home for it. anyone in portland interested in housing it?
i did send an email to the psu rec center people, will see what they respond back with.
wonderland is out. I talked with the guy at the main office and he said he wasn't interested...although did give me the name of the distributor as a potential buyer of hte machine.

Your other big bet would be Big Al's. If not the one in Vancouver, they're opening one in Beaverton soon, iirc. (Gresham maybe?)
But please keep mailing PSU. They're probably all busy because it's finals week and stuff, but once that's over I'm sure they'll be interested. I can mail them too of course...

Sell it to me.
I have $700. lawl
Sorta serious. I live in Oregon City and I'd let people play it.
OR 100% seriously, I can pay you in monthly installments to lease the game or something at my place. How does $100-$125 a month sound?

That would take nearly 60 months (5 years) to pay off a $8000 machine.

Dalton, yeah sorry wouldn't want to part with it for that little. And I don't really think the payment thing would work out. That being said, thanks for the offer. I appreciate the interest.
You could always buy a cobalt flux for a couple hundred dollars and they are really good, sturdy pads.
Disco, i have now emailed two people at psu and no response (both in the rec center). I'll try in another week, but I don't want to harass them too much. I'll certainly send an email to Big Al's in vancouver to see what they say.
Dr. Z, I am in southeast Portland, currently near mall 205, moving to Hawthorne area
Pants, yeah I want it to be close to me unless someone wants to pay close to my asking price for it.

How much are you selling it for?
What is the condition of it?
I don't know how I can keep/play it here in my new apartment, but always wanted to buy one. I just got back from Afghanistan and have a little bit of "fun" money I can spend...
Pending costs, transit, and storage requirements, I may be interested in purchasing the machine.

Condition is good to very good. It has only seen light play by myself and a few friends. I have done some 12s and 13s on it, but most other people who played were 6s and less. I would probably part with it with no thought for 8K. I have had an offer from someone for 6K although still debating whether or not to go that low.

Put the dedicab in PSU with dragonforce charts on it and I'll be playing there everyday. Dead serious. :|
There aren't any good machines in Portland it seems... I just moved here and I'm super disappointed.
