Sweetness!

DM is finally back.

The new Terminator Salvation game is also there.  Please give opinions on Terminator.

Regarding the DM - pads seemed OK but bass pedal is very loud - might have a loose hinge that needs tightening or perhaps just some WD40...

More importantly, I think the machine needs to be moved from where it is placed right now.  It is sitting right next to that punching-bag machine and I'm sure others are going to find this intolerable if they play this on a busy night.  The NFS racing game to the right is pretty loud and can drown out the sound as well, and the pinball machines to the left make some pretty distracting noises at random intervals even when they aren't being played.   The volume on the machine seemed sorta low, but this might have been more due to the noise from the stuff mentioned above...

Yeah to echo above comment, I called this in yesterday.
The bass pedal stopped responding after my 2nd set.  Failing on really easy songs because of it.  AutoBass is no fun =/

Thanks for calling it in!  I see on the service log that it was taken care of last night.
Today, I oiled the pedal as well.  Yes, those Need For Speed games were way too loud.  Turned down now.  Also, I thought the DM was set on the quiet side, so it is livened up with maybe too much volume?

Thanks for the reports.  Appreciate the input as always.

I might be swinging by Acme tomorrow for some ITG work and some DM action. This could be fun!

It's pretty gun in my opinion. I like how to reload you have to hit the clip on the gun itself. Puts a nice twist on the rail shooter genre.

Also would just like to report that DMV3 is in good working condition. I'll bring my own sticks next time though. Those wires attached to the ones on the machine hurt when they catch onto your skin. haha

Bill, I played the DMV3 again yesterday evening.  Was working great for me.
One note: Did you notice the monitor is getting a bit discolored in the lower right of the screen?  Not an issue that affects gameplay/enjoyment however.

I do like the new slightly louder volume, I think it is perfect.

I don't like being next to the punching bag.  There are some people who really wail on that thing and it's more distracting than being next to probably any other game in the 'cade when a group is using it.  But if that's the only setup you could get working I'll happily deal with it.

Cool, Glad to hear something good about terminator, and also glad the volume is perfect on the DM.
That punching bag.........so much fun trying to find a home for it.  It bothers anyone playing a machine that it's near.  And I have to admit, I also find those annoying.  Whenever I am concentrating and working os something, someone hits one of those and makes me jump, haha.  Funny how they have become the most popular thing in every arcade we run.  Lately, we have been hitting the bar locations pretty heavily with them too.  Just interesting sometimes to see what goes in the marketplace out there.

Wherever you have men and boys trying to prove themselves, this game will find incredible popularity. Same goes for the gun/deer hunting games and racing games. You've gotta be manly! Unlike those freaks playing that dancing game...

By the way, Bill, I wanted to thank you for making DM V3 $.75 for 4 songs (and bonus tracks count as 3 songs) on standard play.  Was it like that before?  I don't recall...

Anyhow, I do appreciate the excellent value.  Have stopped by for V3ing 4 days out of the past 7.

I was at Acme this evening (Thursday).  In The Groove 2 and Pop 'n Music were both missing.  Not sure if they're on loan to Sakura Con, or if they're off getting repaired.  Drum Mania seemed fine.

Hey Robert,
Yes, they are Sakuracon.  Will be returning Sunday around the dinner hour.

As of Sakuracon, we've added a couple of new songpacks to the machine. A couple of the new songs (Spinnin' Around, and I believe Caramelldansen - chime in with more, Tony and Keby) count as two stages, so be aware of that when you select them. Smiley

Also, I really need to start playing DM again.

Hey thanks for getting the new song packs on there, there's definitely some good ones. I went and played last night and the volume was pretty low so I'm hoping we can get that fixed.
Also something weird with the long song thing. I tried playing a song that was 299 seconds, which said it counted as 2 stages, but it said the limit was 240 and wasn't playable. However I then tried a 275 second song and it worked fine as 2 stages. Anyone know what's up?

And if the long songs are now working can we change the limits to, say, 0-4min for normal, 4-6min for long songs, 6+ for marathon? I don't think any grumpy managers at Acme will object if we've got the multiple stages working. And considering the normal limit a week ago was 4.5min I think the aforementioned ranges are very reasonable. It would be greatly appreciated  Wink

Is it counting the length of the music or the stepchart? Some stepcharts have dead space before or after the song and this may or may not be considered "song length". I'm not sure about any of this, it's just my guess.

Allan - I think the new charts are fun, too! I think that the ACME staff wanted the "long song" cutoff to be 3:30 - and by "I think," I mean "Bill told me so in an e-mail before the con." I don't know why this exact number was chosen, though - it just seems to be what ACME wants.

Regarding the volume... yeah, it's probably pretty low. Tony and I couldn't get anybody to leave Sakuracon when the arcade was supposed to be closing so we turned the volume completely off on all of the machines so that people wouldn't want to play anymore. We told Bill's techs this, and they said they'd adjust all of the volumes on-site, but that allows a lot more of a margin for error. Smiley

So this means the machine is back at acme? I leave  early next week and was hoping to come by and say bye to whoever is there. Went last week but completely forgot about the Con. Hope to see people there this week.

Just wondering if there are plans to upgrade the boards in the SF IV machine when Super SF IV is released - Capcom just recently confirmed an arcade release as well.   I'm sure these will bring in a steady stream of quarters...

SSF, well, that is entirely up to Capcom.  If they demand to see the whole board at 6000.00 each, it would take a 12,000.00 investment to upgrade the cabinets.  Now, if they offer a reasonably priced existing system upgrade, we are down for this.
Shame on these manufacturers, it's no wonder they have a hard time selling their product to the arcade market these days.

Has ANYONE tried the new terminator game within this group?  In general, it appears to be the best light gun shooter we have had in 5 years!  :-)

Bill, I really want to check it out, but I haven't been able to get down to Acme in over a month. I'm hoping that in the next few weeks I'll get the chance to try it out. I'll let ya know what I think.

On that note, my buddy and I played thru most of Rambo and we both seemed to get a kick out of it. Not a bad game.
