Acme Drummania is far better now, especially since GW DM is dead at the moment (and possibly forever, session units are hard to replace). Hihat is very responsive, thanks Bill!

Haha, yes, I saw that DM at GW yesterday.  the session unit is fine.  I have seen that error many times.  It will leave one to believe the session unit died, but it's only a simple 2 minute fix.  Will be interesting to see if they figure that out?

Sad news:  Acme is asking to have PIU Pro removed immediately due to the free credit problem.  There seems to be no cure for the credit issue, we have tried evrything.  Play now, as it will be gone this Tuesday.  Get ready for a little old school Max 2 in it's place.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Did Kyle ever get back to you about the problem? Do other arcades have this problem?

Still, I can't complain about Max2!

So if Max2 is leaving Narrows does that mean Pro is going there?

Easy solution to me would be something like replacing PRO with Zero. Wink

But then it might not get as many people playing it...  like what was the problem before. But maybe now that people were playing pro, they'd play Zero?  It's hard to tell.

But If it has to go, so be it. Sad

If the Pump machine can't be prevented from giving free credits to cheapskates, I'd be surprised if Bill puts it anywhere.  Putting it at Narrows just means he loses money there instead of losing it at Acme.  Unless he can put a version of Pump on it that doesn't have the bug, of course.

I went to Acme last night at about 9pm and both of the change machines were empty.  The front desk either wasn't willing to supply quarters, or was legitimately out of them when I asked.  They said the change machines wouldn't be refilled until Monday, so I ended up just going home and not spending anything there.  Disappointing.  Maybe I'll start keeping an emergency roll of quarters in the car.  Smiley

Tried using the vending machines to get a few quarters, by sticking in a dollar bill and then hitting the change return, but the machine was apparently out of change, as it took the bill and gave me nothing back at all.  I guess that's what I get for trying to manipulate things.

Argh, the old Zero kit is long gone.  Nykkel is right, Pro is going to Narrows for awhile until we figure out what to do.  Kyle was of help with this problem, having us a replacement board sent out.  But that did not cure the problem.  We have modified wiring in the cabinet and tried everything possible.  This cabinet may go up for sale soon, so anyone interested with 3500.00 is welcome to apply for ownership.

For now, enjoy some Pro at Narrows

Ah, Bill, that's great news. I was hoping it wouldn't just disappear immediately.

One thing did pique my curiosity...have you tried rewiring the USB ports? Make sure they function. I'm not sure how, but this *might* be related to the coin slot error.

Tony and I may be interested in procuring Pump Pro, as soon as we figure out where we're going to put it... maybe we can talk with you later, Bill? In the meanwhile, Max 2 is going to be a blast to play.

Additionally... was at ACME on Sunday, and it seems like the 1p coin slot on ITG is still jammed. Sara and I tried to fix it with a nail file but we failed. Also, if your techs got a strange voicemail on Sunday night, I apologize. Some people may not have been entirely sober. Tongue

The Max2 that replaced Pump is set to four songs per game, and autofail seems to be disabled.  At least, all of Maxx Unlimited kept running even after people had given up on passing it as Extra Stage.

Not sure if it is 75c or $1.  Sticker on the machine says 75c, but that doesn't guarantee anything.  I didn't actually put money into it last night to see.  Surprised how many songs there were in Max2 that we don't have access to in Supernova, though.

Farren said he thinks the upper sensor on the P1 Right arrow might be out.

It was funny watching people walk in, pause as they noticed Pump was missing, and then leave again.  That is, funny if they were among the people who normally played 'free' credits and didn't spend any money.  If they actually had planned on putting money into Pump if it were there, then not so funny.

Yes, being that Max 2 is a bit dated, you get an extra song and no fail.  It is 75 cents.  I bet those people who took off were there for the free play.  Acme was saying a group was there daily to rape that opportunity.  Argh!

Kevin, the glitch would occur even with the USB's unplugged.

Eww...no autofail. Are you sure that's a good idea? It kind of sucks to have someone walk off in the middle of a set and then have to wait for the game to fail out.

Still, if that's what you want, it's fine. I'm just happy to have Max2 at all!

I called in problems with DM and Pop'n. Buttons are sticky on Pop'n, and the hi-hat on DM is once again messed up.

Buttons on 2P GF controller are really really stiff, but I assume that's just because the microswitches were replaced or something.

I didn't play any Max2 or ITG or SN since I'm still recovering from pneumonia, but they looked to all be in good condition. Cheesy

Thanks for calling in Kevin.  Give us a follow up report on how everything went with repairs.

On another subject, is there any excitement within the music game scene here for the Jubeat game?

Yes, absolutely. The location test in California went incredibly well, and I think a lot of people would be shoveling money into that game if Acme had it, heh. The only downside I can think of is that it's probably going to be a huge hassle to repair. Still, I'm just hoping it actually gets released in the US.

I'll be going again to Acme tomorrow, so I'll let you know. Thanks!

EDIT: Just thought I'd let you know that your service clearly surpasses that of any other arcade op in the area. Gameworks STILL hasn't fixed their DM cabinet. Six weeks!

Shame, as it is only a two minute repair.  I was laughing at that DM when I saw it down there about 6 weeks ago.

If Jubeat hits Acme or Narrows, I'll try to make a point of checking it out next time I'm up north.  I'm planning on taking a road trip up to Seattle in January or February in celebration of my entire friend-group (except for a few who I don't really hang out with much) finally being 18 all-around.

Bill:

As of Sunday, the DM hihat was completely broken. I'm not sure what happened there. Either way, the problem is far worse than it was originally. Pop'n is in much better condition though.

Thanks!

PS: Have you ever thought about getting Tetris The Grand Master 3 or any of the games in that series? Just curious. Cheesy

Hi Kevin,
DM had yet another repair Sunday night, so let us know again the status when you go back next time.
Yes, we have thought about the Tetris and others.  But tough to gauge how many people would like to see that sort of stuff.

Ah, thanks! Sorry for bugging you so much; it's just sad to see Gameworks have a better condition machine, heh.

As for Tetris, there's quite a big overlap between the music gaming community and the TGM community in general. There's even some well known players in Oregon who would probably play too (matt_hatter, etc.). The other good thing (I guess) is that games tend to not last 15 minutes unlike DDR and ITG. Add in the cheap $2000 cabinet+kit price and I'd say it's a pretty good deal. IIRC it is a Taito Type X board, so it should work in an Astro City cab or something of the sort.

Bah, Kevin is just hype about TGM because it's a current obsession for him.  It's like any other bemani player thinking their games are more popular than they actually are because that's the kinda community you hang around with when you're interested in the games.  ;P

But I guess Tetris is Tetris and the "common folk" prolly still play it and wouldn't notice the difference between TGM and the Gameboy version
