Update: The Acme machine is now SOMETIMES saving scores, and is SOMETIMES able to play two sets consecutively without taking card out and putting back in. So I don't know what to think anymore... Maybe its just time for a new USB

The USB issues are weird.  I wasn't playing customs last time I was there and it was saving my information fine (didn't play any consecutive sets, though).  As mentioned, sfxazure did have issues with his drive not loading all of his songs, but, as far as I know, his drive was saving fine.

Whatever's going on, I'll still take some time to clean up Chromatic's metrics, since we should do that anyway.  I'll see what I can do to throw together some code that can do it automatically so that we can fix up other themes just as easily.  And so that cleaning up Chromatic in the first place doesn't take hours and hours.

hey guys, Devon here... stumbled on this thread when I was googling my theme names because I'm pretty lame. anywayyyyy, it sounds like you guys are running the original Chromatic. I've since released Chromatic v2, which fixes the little aforementioned bugs throughout this thread. If you guys ARE using v2 and are still experiencing these problems, hit me up on AIM (lolwtfbrbrofl) or Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/devonis1337) and I'll try my best to walk you through a fix.

regardless, here's the link to my MediaFire, which contains ALL of my themes.

while I'm here, I might as well ask if you guys would be willing to test out a new theme I made. It's called ITG Altitude, and it's a light blue/sky-ish theme I've been working on for the past few months.

I noticed that there has been some mixed reviews on the no judgment bounce debacle... for Chromatic, the bounce is set to 1.0 (none), while the default red ITG theme has 1.3 for the bounce. I set Altitude to 1.1, so it's a happy medium for everybody, I would think. It also has a lot of other little goodies. here are a few screens:

anddddd here's a video of the reduced judgement bounce in action, along with the gameplay/evaluation screen:
Devon quads Liquid Moon

anyway, sorry to derail this thread, but just wanted to pop my head in and say hi Tongue

Devon,
My machine is critically low on HD space at the moment, but once my friend comes up with a solution (we're hoping to install SSD's sometime very soon), I will be more-than-happy to give it a test. I'll let you know when that time comes.

Warning: When it comes to video games and interfaces, I can be a heavily critical SOB. Be prepared for suggestions, even if you don't want them.  Roll Eyes

I've been doing some work on ITG3 at the moment.

I have a sim that was removed but in my opinion it shoul have stayed:
Wild Thing - Tone Loc. It was stepped by Kyle Ward.

Resynced Who. It's dead on. I synced it through OpenITG PC so it should be the same as the arcade if not dead close to it.

I would like to get that on acme sometime in the future. Maybe come tourny time at spergin?

@Keby: Syncing is a little more complicated than that.  Sync is a function of the hardware, software, and the configurable global offset (furthermore, the default global offset in OpenITG is set differently per hardware configuration, so the PC settings may or may not match the dedicab settings, which are explicitly set to match the original Roxor dedicab settings, so as to preserve the sync on the official packs).  Whatever SM version you use, if you take a file you know to be perfectly synced on the Acme machine and tweak your global offsync until it's perfect on yours, then it should be good to go.

Honestly, can a few people PM with what they think are the best synced songs on the Acme machine?  I'd like to copy a few back off the machine and post them as a standardized pack for people to set their global offset with.  One caveat - the current configuration makes it awkward to pull certain things off.  The packs that work for copying individual files back are: Customs 2, Sakuracon 1 / 2, DDR Encore; ITG 1 and 2 are encrypted on the drive and cannot be pulled from the machine easily, so regardless of how well official songs might be synced, I can't copy the Acme version of it (it's probably safe to assume that ITG 1/2 machine rip packs are synced fine, but I want to be extra careful, so no ITG 1/2 syncing examples).

@Keby, part 2: Note the bit above about awkward configurations.  ITG 3 / Rebirth are living in some .zip file on the machine, and I don't remember there being a .zip with an obvious name like "ITG3.zip" in the same directory as "Customs Pack 1.zip" and "Keby\'s Pumpin\' Kicks.zip".  I need to check figure out which archive it's in, and more importantly, what else will be lost and need to be added back on if I remove that archive; if we're updating those packs, I'll set them up outside the UserPacks manager.  I did this with Sakuracon 2010 and did not delete scores.  Honestly, the package manager sucks if you have other options - if we don't use an archived pack, then I can add/remove/update individual songs without dumping/reloading the pack.

As for adding stuff to the machine, I'll definitely have the new hard drive ready to go before SPERGIN, since we're trying to have the SPERGIN pack on the completely-out-of-drive-space machine at least a month before SPERGIN, so that's the latest it would be.

I've been way too busy to do anything else to the machine in about a week and a half, but I'm likely going to Acme tonight, and will take the opportunity to, at a minimum, peel the machine off the wall and look at the computer (hopefully there will be a poorly seated RAM stick to reseat, which will take care of the RAM issue).  I don't know what a dedicab computer looks like other than the fact it uses an IDE drive, so, if there's a slot for the new drive, I will slap it in and try to get it configured tonight - if not, then I need to figure out the best way to clone the existing data onto the new drive, etc., without:
1. Taking the machine offline for a significant amount of time.
2. Messing up the security dongle and blocking access to the encrypted official ITG data (that is, all of ITG 1/2's songs/courses)
3. Losing the machine records.

In terms of sync. I'm using the OpenITG 3 PC beta 2. My global offset is set to something like .0012 which is apparently close to an r16 or r21 machine. I got this from a HUGE sync guide on AIJ. I'll actually put that article on PNWbemani later.

Anyways regardless all I'm saying is that I can assure it's going to be fine once you figure out how to put stuff into ITG3.

also The Chromatic theme is boss. Another I'd recommend for the future is the Ice theme

hey keby where do you get open itg3? I use open itg 2, but synced it perfectly using global offset with chromatic theme added in too.

are the spergin songs going to be put into the machine also? I still have to make minor revisions to my stepfile before submission.

I hope to come friday or saturday, ill post when i know for sure day n time.

The SPERGIN stepfiles will go on the machine on June 4th.  In the next couple of days, Ben is going to make an index page so that they can be downloaded and put onto flash drives for practice until then.  Smiley

We didn't make it to ACME tonight, BTW, so we're going tomorrow.

I need to check, but I believe the Acme machine is running a different offset because of the theme weirdness - it was r16+ windows/polling rate, but the r2 offset, I believe.  I should probably fix that.

Yo Bill,
The DM's drums are rockin' awesome right now (I assume they were maintained), thanks!

Monitor appears a bit better.
But still $1 for 3 songs.  Any chance of changing that soon?

If it's the new inflated standard I suppose I have to take it, as DM just ain't as popular as that there In the Groove all the kiddos are into these days.

Nah, I have no problem paying $1 for 3 songs, 3 songs=1 bonus song.  As long as you keep the machine in good working order, it's worth it.

Hey everyone,

I would like to gather some opinions.  After seeing that we will never recoup on the Street Fighter 4 updates that went in a few weeks ago, of course we are gunshy on what should be next for a new Acme game.
Was considering DJ Max, but when GW got one, I figured that would be enough to serve whatever interest the area could have.  Still not seeing much else in the way of encouraging new games, and wondering if people would play Teknika to death?
Opinions and speculation welcome

I haven't gone to play technika 2 at gameworks in weeks since the machine is always ridiculously crowded.  I'd have to wait ~30 minutes to play once.  I'd say there are enough players to justify two machines.

Technika 2 is a lot of fun but there are a few problems I see with it being set up at ACME.   First of all is the fact that while there a few hardcore players that would play it a lot (like at gameworks),  it's audience would be limited - it's not the type of game that would attract casual players.   The times I've been at Gameworks - the machine is either crowded by the same group of players that are always there, or completely empty with regular arcade goers simply walking past it.    So basically getting return on investment on this machine will pretty much depend on how much play  it gets from the relatively small group of players.

The other issue I would see is the maintenance of the touch-screen.   The crowd in the ACME arcade can get pretty "ghetto" on certain days/hours, and a lot of the people there don't exactly care about treating other people's property in a respectful manner.   That touch screen would probably take quite a beating from random fools who aren't even playing the game.

Good points, thanks people!  I was wondering if the casual customers would take interest, and it sounds like it's a miss with that group.  Keep the opinions coming.  We want to provide this, but it's a scary proposition with it's viabilty.
