Just so ya know, Tony, I was playing a few of Jayce's charts last night & the ITG cab really seems to not like the Portal1 song.
I got through the Technika "Whiteblue" one just fine with that overlay, but when I did Still Alive both on versus & then by myself a couple sets later, it would exit out of OpenITG & basically go to a desktop screen right around three-quarters through the song.

I need to download the machine's crash logs to see why Still Alive isn't working right. It worked fine when I first installed it, and all of Jayce's overlay charts (except Whiteblue, but it's been on there for about a week) have crashed the machine as some point, but Portal is particularly unstable.
The crash screen is just the computer's desktop - I still haven't gotten an auto-revive script set up yet, so when OITG crashes, you get the desktop.

Whiteblue is awesome btw... Failed the first attempt, 80 on second attempt, was going for a mid-90 on third attempt but it crashed the machine
I really wish we could get it more stable....

Next time I'm there, I'll try to remember to pull the crash logs and see if I can figure out what keeps happening.
It shouldn't have anything to do with memory, graphics, or CPU issues, since they were about as stable on the old computer as they are on the new. It shouldn't have much to do with the files themselves, since they work some of the time. This unfortunately means that it's probably something extremely subtle; fortunately, many subtle issues are things like trying to display too many things at once and hitting some internal limit, which would actually be logged in a fairly clear way and is probably easily fixed once tracked down; unfortunately, if it's not so clear, but very subtle, it's going to be damn hard to fix.

Was in Utah over the weekend, so I couldn't actually work on anything. Will at least compile the patched version tonight, should have USB working soon, though I'm going to be out of the state this weekend as well, so I'll probably install the patched version sometime next week.
Talked to the people who maintain Utah's dedicab about Jayce charts crashing on their machine, and apparently, they see different charts crash depending on what OITG version they are running (they've run Jayce charts against beta 1 and beta 2). Basically, it looks like the root cause is extremely subtle - I'll pull the crash logs tonight.

My brain is now trying to construct a song called "USB of Sorrow" out of "Rain of Sorrow" from DDR. Thanks, Gerrak, this monstrosity is going to be kicking around my head all day.

Why hello everyone
long time no talk, school/work/working out is no easy thing to juggle. Thought I would let you fine folks know I'll be at ACME this thursday night to be practicing for that tourney, as most of my training has been physical, but nothing shakes the dust off like some good ol ITG. I may possibly be going in tomorrow as well (sunday the 23rd) after work, but that depends how the gym and work go. But count me in for sure on Thursday evening.

You most definitely know Gerrak!
Went in yesterday near 5-6:30, very much fun, rust is coming off fast in terms of the 9s and 10s (mid-high 90s), still able to do 11s and most of the 12s I love. But that will change soon.
The USB wasn't working, but knowing how it is at ACME, it will probably be up and running soon. The pads and bars seem better than what I remember too. I'll be going again Thursday, afternoon/evening.

I think the down arrow on the left side is giving a few errors. I heard someone mention it and I played on that side for a while and it looked to be this arrow that gave the issues. I was just hoping someone could take a look
Thanks!
Also the 'USB out of order' sign is missing, or else Tony fixed it without telling anyone. Preferably the latter
I'm gonna lose my #1 most preserved USB data on Groovestats status if the USBs are broken for too much longer...

USB is still down - somebody must have removed the sign.
Building the fixed version of OITG isn't going so smoothly; something's not working quite right with autoconf, so the compilation scripts aren't being generated (therefore I can't even try to compile the program). I should have some time tonight to look into the autoconf issues.

Oh boy, more sensors to ITG today, Hopefully playing well.
Not playing well is Drum Mania. It looks to be down for the count, and scheduled to get pulled early next week. We cannot figure out the error on the screen , as it is in Japanese. Does anyone here know Japanese? If so, please feel free to plug in and attempt to boot the cabinet this weekend. Let us know if you can read in to what the error message is. It will not fully boot up. Hate to retire it, as it's a nest game. But that operating system has been a bit flaky since day 1. :-(

I can probably take a look on Sunday. Shouldn't be too hard for me to get down to Acme.

"There was an abnormality on the hard disk drive.
It is recommended that you repair it.
There is a possibility that the abnormal data might be erased if you repair. Repair might also take some time.
Repair?
Yes No
O Decide"
So basically what you would want to do is leave the selection where it is now, and find whatever input corresponds to the PlayStation circle button and hit that.

I believe with the BemaniPS2 hardware you actually have to plug in a PS2 controller to one of the controller ports on the Python (PS2) system inside, then hit the circle button. I am completely serious, as ridiculous as it sounds this is really what you need to do!!! Some other people have had this happen on DDRSN and SN2 which use the same hardware.

Oh boy, I guess I need to find a PS2 controller. I guess we will drag this back to the shop later this week and give it a fiddle. Thanks for the info!

Tony... I lost my #1 most steps hit on groovestats ranking because the USBs have been down so long... And #2 is closing on game play time, I was a day and a half ahead, now I'm down to like 20 hours...
I mean can't we just change it back to the way it was if it's really so broken? I don't understand why the 'new computer' doesn't work as well as the old; seems to crash more, USBs dont work, etc...

The "new computer" wasn't ready to go in yet when we put it in. The "old computer" broke completely via some sort of corrupted data, and is currently at our place so that Tony can see if he might be able to salvage it. Essentially, you had two choices:
1. Play no In The Groove, or
2. Play In The Groove without USB until Tony has free time to spend rewriting Open ITG.
We figured 2 was a better option.
Edit: Also, Bill, if one of your techs wants to meet up with me at ACME, I can bring a PS2 controller!
