I have permission to add songs to the machine but don't have access to the back. Those USB ports are the only way for me to add songs right now.

Oh gotcha, I didn't think they worked considering their appearance.  Undecided

While you are here...

ADD IWSS2! OMG PLZ! Cheesy

Swapping SN with Typhoon or moving ITG to the left of the crane game would both work for me! I'm really super ok with any configuration where I can hear Supernova 2!

PS: I'll be there today to play DDR while Chris and Abbye are working on ITG. Wink If you guys need credits to test the sensors, I can provide those for you.

Even more off-topic, who generally adds the songs to the machine? I don't get to contact Tony very much anymore, especially here on the forums, and it doesn't seem that the tracker works for me.

Hello! I ran into a guy (Allen iirc) tonight at ACME Bowl who told me about this forum so I thought I'd stop by to introduce myself.

My name is Sean and I just recently started going to ACME Bowl. I originally began playing back when ITG1 came out at Illusionz arcade in Issaquah under the name QWV. I played ITG1-2 throughout middle school, back when people were struggling to beat Summer and Bloodrush. I remember playing with KevinDDR, the only other player my age at the time. After Illusionz closed, I took an 8 year break for high school/college but recently I've had an urge to get back into the game.

FYI I'm the skinny ginger guy who plays 10's and 11's wearing jeans. See you at the ACME!

Yo QWV!!! Good to see ya on here. Maybe I'll stop by Acme some time after the pads have been fixed.

Hey Guys and Gals,

Just got back from ACME after working on the stage!

Abbye, Nick, Kevin, and I all worked on the stage together and thanks to Laura, we were able to test the stage without dumping tons of cash. We did however, spend roughly 3 hours working on the stage. I just wanted to mention that, without their help, it would've taken a lot more cash and a lot more time!

A quick side note... Kevin kept a log of what we did to the stage which I will post later.

Abbye and I have been teaching these young and enthusiastic ITG'er (Nick and Kevin) how to maintain the stage and what we've done to keep the stage in tip top shape. It has been fun to be able to share our knowledge with them and it is always amazing to see them improve and become beasts on the stage they've worked on!

So far, after extensive testing on various different levels (11's - 15's) and BPMs (140 - 191), the stage seemed to be in excellent working order. All four of us were able to complete very difficult charts and were able to keep combos.

I personally played Girl in the Fire (15) and scored 98.95%, Abbye and Nick passed Plastic World (15) with 85%+, and later Nick went on to pass 2 more Pendulum 15's with 90%+; Girl in the fire (15) and Blood Sugar (15). We were also able to post 99's on the 11's - 12's that we played earlier in our sets! If it weren't for Kevin hiking 6 miles prior, I'm sure he would've passed several of these Pendulum charts as well.

We are still testing the stage and by no means are they complete. We are still waiting on new sensors and will continue to keep improving them as we go. The stage is far less flush then what it was before, so it should suit some players with the stock stage preference a little more. Keep in mind that the stage will be receiving a couple more layers of tape to help with the flushed feeling, but not enough to ruin the feel aspect of the stage.

I encourage all of you to go check out the stage and give us your feed back. I would love to hear what every player that visits ACME feels about the stage. Without your feed back, good and bad, I cannot help improve your playing experience at ACME. Please feel free to post your thoughts about the stage!  Roll Eyes

I know that there are still 2 people in the forums that were associated with the removing of the stage modding and with the tampering of the stage (I know who you are)  Sad. I plead with you to come talk to me instead of ruining the work we've all put into the communities stage. It takes us hours to repair what you rip out in 2 seconds. Roll Eyes

Thanks!  Wink

Great work and nice update!

Let us know when/if you get the new sensors. I personally want to test them out as I know I have a different perspective as a heavier player. It may or may not yield different results than a smaller player. Hopefully everything is good for everyone though!

Just finished a beastly session with Abbye at ACME! We played through nearly all of the Pendulum pack, with the exception of the 16's. All 13's, 14's, and 15's just got destroyed today, lol; 2 non-stop hours of pure 174 BPM madness! We either tied or broke our personal records on almost every chart played today, and the miss triggers were near non-existent. We did make minor adjustments to fix the 1-2 miss triggers we had today, but nothing serious. The stage is in an exceptional state, and I encourage all of you to go try!  Kiss

Also, please give the stage more than 1 try and then rage quit because you get 1-2 miss triggers! It takes a little bit of time to transition into a flushed stage, so I'd suggest at least 30 minutes of play.  Grin

Acme won't allow the ITG machine in the entrance to the arcade due to the noise. Also, the ITG/SN2 machines can't really be switched with the Typhoon machine, lest we be hit with basketballs more than we already are. We would need to completely rearrange the arcade to accommodate this change... Though I agree wholeheartedly that Supernova is hard to hear...

It really should not need to be said, however I will say, that if you do not have proper permission, this is considered vandalism of Masterman Vending property and is an offense you can and should be banned from Acme Bowl for. I know that if I see or hear about any such conduct, I will be in swift contact with the appropriate parties to ensure that this end is met. Any problems one might have with the pad one should report publicly on these forums like a civilized person.

Not all of you have been around here as long as I have, but I remember when I had to call in to Masterman Vending to have them tweak the pads every other day or so I played because they were so precarious. These modifications too have been precarious, but honestly much less so, and they will be fixed hopefully for the most part or wholly with the new sensors!

Lastly,

Today, when I walked in, I noticed this with the ITG machine:

This occasionally happens when I come in here. I assume the song was over, so I tried to quit the song but then it immediately freezes so I had to unplug and plug back in the machine.

This must be the chart for "Emperor Breath" or something in the DOWNS4 pack.
I noticed that it had a credit and a fraction in there, so I also assume that someone willingly chose the song and thus this happens.

Just an FYI because this does seem harmful to the machine.

APHR, Rose, did you both leave Acme about 10:10pm last night? If so, I passed you in the parking lot on the way in. Tongue  I had the light blue shirt.

Anyway, I finally got a chance to play on the ITG pads. As a no-bar, doubles player, I have to say that my play style is barely influenced by the modified pads. There was probably 2-4 steps where I wasn't sure if I was on the metal or an arrow, but it wasn't a big deal at all for me. The sensitivity was great though!

However, I do have some feedback that hopefully is taken seriously. I know it is a common practice for you "footsliding" players to put baby powder or other powders on the pads to made the surface super lubricated so there's no friction left on your feet. While you and other players who religiously hold the bar are accustomed to this, please consider the following.

The ITG pads last night were the most dangerous pads I have ever stepped onto.  Shocked Unfortunately I did not realize this until into my first song, where not only did I fail about 20% into the song, but I almost seriously injured myself due to the slipperiness of the pads. If I didn't grab the bars, I would have fallen hard onto the pads, hopefully not hitting my head on the bars or the corners of the pad on my way down.

If any casual person decided to move quickly on the ITG pads or even if a kid decided to run across them, they would have a high percentage of falling. Who's liability is it if someone gets injured on the machine? Acme's or Bill's?

To anyone who would say "it's not that bad" please consider that the pads were more slippery than a tiled floor in a mall when its raining and the mall has to put up "slippery when wet" signs all over to warn people about the falling danger. It really was that bad. I haven't been to Acme in a long time, but I suspect this has been going on for a while.

It took about 10 minutes to clean off the powder to get the pads to a point where I would feel safe playing on them. While cleaning I realized that the floor between the machine and the stage also has several layers of powder dust and I was tracking it back onto the machine after every song. UGH. Before cleaning, the pads were dangeriously unplayable to any player who would be playing no-bar. Doubles no-bar was impossible to play before I wiped the arrows down.

This isn't a post to say "stop using powder", but if you do put that much on, please seriously consider wiping it off when you're finished because the potential harm that it could cause someone unsuspecting is huge. I wasn't even expecting to have that much of a bad time, because people have been putting powder on that machine since it was put in at Acme, but please curb your addiction to that powdery speed crack. Do you really need that much to play?!

Yeah, I've gotten into the habit of grabbing some paper towels from the bathroom before my first game, and wiping down any panels I plan to set foot on.  Baby powder makes things difficult for players who don't normally use the bar for extra balance.  More so if you're playing Double that way, since you're shifting your weight around more between arrows, with more potential to lose your balance if the friction between your shoes and the pad is too low.

Whoa!

We wiped the stage down after we finished last night with a wet towel, as we generally do unless others are still playing. I suppose the wet towel didn't do that good of a job. I'm going to start bringing some windex for those of you who strongly dislike baby powder and wiping down the stage for you.

Also, baby powder almost becomes a necessity when playing charts that require foot speed or endurance. For instance, 174 BPM for 7:30mins without powder is ludicrous!

That said, I apologize for the powder. We obviously didn't intend to make the playing surface dangerous or a liability. Windex and a towel will always be with us every time we go. Simple fix to this problem.  Wink

Much appreciated! Smiley   (Not for just me, but anyone else using the machine).

I'm surprised that your wet towel didn't help last night... I definitely didn't need any windex when I was cleaning; just two wet paper towels, one for each side, and a few dry towels. Maybe your towel is one that doesn't absorb or pick up debris? It's not enough to just get it wet, but to actually pickup the powder off the pads, which the paper towels seemed to do just fine.

@BLueSS

Oh my gosh we are so sorry Sad

Like APHR said, we did wipe the pads down before we left but I do acknowledge that the space between the pad and the machine may have had left over powder remnants. Considering this is where we usually put the powder down we sometimes forget to clean that space as well. We will for sure bring something like Windex to clean up after ourselves. The pad and the ground around it.

We don't want anybody getting hurt because of this.

Hopefully, we can get a chance to meet up again but without the risk of someone really hurting themselves. Lets do a take 2 Smiley

I'm pretty sure this issue was resolved in earlier posts, but in case you need a reminder...

We share the space and we understand that using powder can make the stage slippery for some players. We take full responsibility of using the powder and will maintain the stages cleanliness. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we will take extra measures to keep the stage fully clear of powder when we are not using it.  Wink

I am fully aware that the machine is not my property but I do have consent from Bill to work on the stage and all of us who pay to play are entitled to play the way we desire and we desire to use powder.  Smiley

We are in 100% agreement with BLueSS about the entire situation, but this is only 1 instance this has happened to us. We've always cleaned the stage before we leave for those to come after us. Remember that we aren't the only players in our community to use powder, there are many others. Hopefully, the other players read this and make sure to keep the stage clean for people as well.  Angry

With that said, we will make sure to keep the stage powder free for you Iori241, since you go to ACME so frequently to notice the powder.  Tongue

Also, if you have an issue with us using powder, I'd suggest you speak to Bill directly. But as far as I'm concerned, my girlfriend and I do our part to keep the stage in an impeccable state for everyone to enjoy.  Wink

Thanks

If it's easier logistically, a less optimal but still workable solution might be to do some combination of turning the volume on ITG very slightly down and turning the volume on Supernova very slightly up. I don't want ITG to be too quiet or to blow out Supernova's speakers, but it's really obvious that the machine volumes are totally different, and maybe we can find a sweet spot where you can hear whichever game you're playing fine without drowning the other game out?

@Iori241,

We vacuum out the inside of the panels as needed to make sure no powder builds up inside. Of course, at the moment we are in need of a cleaning.  Tongue

There are plenty of amazing players that use powder. Flash, Mad Matt, Dark Xuxa, Parrax, Stevereen, and Archi for example are excellent players that utilizes powder! Also, you are only good at heel-toe if you are Calimist, none other can compare.  Undecided
