Is there any way of safely resetting the machine when it gets frozen? I have experienced this a few times and it is very frustrating to drive all the way down and have it be frozen.
On my machine I found that flipping the switch off/on quickly is best. This is more like a "reset" then a true power off/power on event.

Oh gotcha, I didn't think they worked considering their appearance.  Undecided

While you are here...

ADD IWSS2! OMG PLZ! Cheesy
Missed this from a while back. I need a link to a clean version of the pack first; I know at least one song, Hollaback Girl, has profanity in it. Songs in the pack with profanity will either need to be removed or censored so they're safe for ACME.

Just wanted to make a quick post with regards to the USB ports on our machine at ACME.  Huh

When will those be functional for the players to use? We have been waiting quite some time for them to function. I know Tony has done a "quick-fix" on them but they still won't read our USBs. If we are able to use our USBs on the machine, the request for new packs will be less frequent since we are able to simply use our USB.  Grin

Could we get someone who has dealt with fixing this to comment for us on the forums? I just want to know a rough time frame in which we would have to wait for this or if its possible.  Roll Eyes

I believe it has been over a 2 years (maybe more) since they've broken down and they are still in rough shape. As I mentioned in a previous post, the USB ports are held together by electrical tape and there have been situations where people have been tampering with them.

Once again, it would be extremely wonderful if someone with experience repairing the USB ports would post on the forums with regards to when they will be available or if they will be available at all.

Is walkin the dog still on the cab? There's no way that song should be on a public machine and it was there last time I played.

This is one of the ultimate questions that literally everyone in the community has asked at least thrice  Undecided

From what I know, the current OS build will not support any USB format, and it needs to be programmed from scratch or entirely new PC/hardware needs to be swapped in and then you could start OpenITG from scratch.
No one currently has the time to work on coding in the background for this though.

We could nominate all of our dev buddies to collaborate on this, but it's more complicated than that and extremely unlikely. If there is however a skilled coder with familiarity on the current OS in the machine and has loads of time, it would be radically cool if they would volunteer their services.
We'd totally all buy you a beer, if you fix the usbs ;p

I'd take up on that offer, if only I understood Linux and all that, but otherwise have plenty of time. and maybe if i do it, replace beer with ITG.. lol

I second this! If there is anyone with enough knowledge with regards to fixing this and would like to volunteer their time to work on the USB ports, we all would greatly appreciate this! So, I guess we will buy you 2 beers!  Huh

Good news everyone! (Trying to sound like Professor Farnsworth from Futurama)

Just got word from Bill that the new sensors have arrived. Abbye and I will be picking them up from his shop first thing tomorrow and will be heading up to ACME to install them. During this time we will need roughly 2 hours to install and test them, so please plan your trip to ACME accordingly.

We are planning on being at ACME at 3:00 PM tomorrow, 8/20/2014!

Also, after the new sensors are installed we would appreciate constructive feed back with regards to the performance of the stage. I encourage all of you to try them out as soon as possible! This entire weekend will be the perfect opportunity for you to check them out. I will be starting a new thread for feed back so please post in the newly formed thread and not in this one.

Thanks,

Chris

On other news:

To either Ben or Tony or whoever is in charge of modifying the pack list at ACME:

I have reviewed the Sexuality Violation pack and tried my best to censor anything that is inappropriate for a public family venue. I was too lazy to mix in music to areas I've silenced, so it will sound awkward sometimes when there's just an abrupt silence in the song.

Here are songs that I've cleaned:
  • Blurred Lines
  • Gas Pedal
  • Hollaback Girl - I've also pixelated the word "shit" in its graphics, and you can try to copy this to the IWSS2 pack Chris is requesting as well
  • Niggas in Paris - This song's in-game title and graphics have also been changed
  • Scream & Shout
  • White Walls
This is a link to download the edited/cleaned versions of the audio. Simply copy and paste to overwrite the folders to the same pack (I'm assuming you can just do that on the OS running?): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B02WHE9YpaYeVWZzaGgzVFYxbkE/edit?usp=sharing

Here are songs that are not at all decent and need to be removed entirely from the ACME Cab:
  • I Don't Like
  • Racks
  • Smell Yo Dick

Also, because SV2 is simply an expansion of SV, can we just have the first Sexuality Violation pack removed? Takes off some space.

Thanks.

Good news everyone! (Farnsworth)

Abbye and I have finished installing all the new sensors that we've received from Bill today!

They are quite different, they are significantly less sensitive than the DDR sensors. From what I've noticed, they require more pressure to trigger them, therefore the ghost/false triggers are practically nonexistent. As far as the modding goes, we've only made minor adjustments to compensate for the under sensitive sensors; the modding is basically unchanged, still at 65% flushed.

The stage feels better than ever, at least to me, Abbye, and Nick. Cheesy

Having said that, we will need everyone's cooperation in order to make the stage better!  Smiley

Bill, I just wanted to thank you for doing this for our community, we couldn't have any of this if it weren't for you. Also, it is nice to finally have a face to you Bill! It was definitely nice to meet you in person!

I will start a new thread once I get home so people can post their feed back.

Holy moly...  Shocked

Just got back from ACME!

Abbye and I have been there since 11 AM in the morning installing and testing the sensors. Throughout the day we had several players test the stage out for us and all the players really liked how they've turned out.

We had the following players test the stage for us today:

Tuan - Plays w/ shoes and w/o powder
Nick - Plays w/ socks and w/ powder
Josh - Plays w/ shoes and w/o powder
Nim - Plays w/ shoes and w/o powder
Taylor - Plays w/ socks and w/o powder
Isra - Plays w/ sandals and w/ powder
Kevin - Plays w/ socks and w/ powder

EDIT: Forgot to mention KEVIN!  Angry

Of course Abbye and I tested them as well and all 9 of us agreed that the stage was performing better than ever.

I really wanted to take different play-styles into consideration when modifying the stage so all these players with vastly different play-styles giving me their input helped tremendously! We had players attempt to FA 10's and 11's and had players attempt to beast 200+ BPM 16's and 17's. All of theses players found little to no miss/ghost triggers throughout the entire days worth of testing.

We are in need of doubles players to test out the stage and give us some feed back. I know that Abbye and I will be going to ACME after work tomorrow night to meet up with Yuri and Dave, both of them play doubles so their feed back will be taken into account. Also, Tyrgannus might be going tomorrow so, hopefully we can hear some feed back from him.

Also, I've decided to keep the discussion about how the ACME stage is performing in this thread instead of starting a brand new one. Tongue

Please keep in mind that the stage is not finished yet! There will be some more modifications made throughout this process, so if you do happen to miss trigger, please don't rage on the forums about how bad the stage is. Just give us a detailed description of what arrow(s) was giving you the miss trigger and how that miss trigger occurred.

Thanks guys!  Cheesy

Josh, nice meeting you today; and nice to see you again Tuan!

We are in need of doubles players to test out the stage and give us some feed back.

No-bar DDR doubles player reporting here.

I played a set of ITG
then a set of PIU
then another set of ITG
then a set of DDR.

I wanted to play on all three machines because I haven't played on many machines over the past year and I wanted a good comparison between them. When standing on the ITG machine, I could definitely feel the edge between the pads and the brackets without trying hard. When playing doubles that requires going back and forth between the pads, I did notice a few points where I wasn't sure if I was indeed stepping on a pad or the stage. But I contrasted this with the over-excessive feeling of the stage/brackets that I experienced while playing PIU/DDR. I felt the arrows more on those because the arrows were recessed to the point that I was tripping over the height difference. After playing on the ITG's currently modded arrows, I've seen how much more fun doubles are when you're not tripping over the pad or repeatedly stepping on the screws holding the brackets up. I've played doubles my whole life stepping on brackets and I had gotten used to it. Now, I would prefer to play on the current ITG pads over any others. I had no sensor problems when hitting the outside of the pads; but I did have a lot of OOS sensor problems. (aka out of shape)

So everyone, please try them out. Yes, you feel the arrows less than the highly recessed DDR SN2 machine behind it, but it is much nicer not tripping up over the brackets.

I'll let the words of Taylor Swift close out my post.

Edit: Bah, my embedding code doesn't acknowledge the time markers. I wanted this to start playing at 1m40s. Tongue  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfWlot6h_JM&t=1m40s

I went to ACME yesterday between training at the gym and heading to the airport to do a quick set, holy cow there were lots of players there, so welcoming to the god king!  Kiss

Anyhow, the pads are fantastic. I was able to nearly 95 12s (highest previous on any 12 was just under 93) and response was fluid, clean, and it really works well with the flush arrow setup. Just wanted to vouch for it, thanks Bill, Chris, Abbye, and everyone else who worked on it. I'll be at ACME for a full set of sets on Friday night or Saturday sometime. Can't wait to see what kind of 99s I can get on 9s and 10s!

Went last night, and I'm happy to report (like everyone else) that for the first time in forever I didn't note any pad misses! It was very satisfying to get some FECs again.. or just full-combos for that matter.
 Cheesy

My one critique is that the pads are pretty slippery, as if there's a permanent small layer of WD-40 or invisible baby powder. This makes playing no-bar Singles harder and playing no-bar doubles (of anything 9 or higher) pretty much dangerous.
So... perfect score for the sensors yesterday, but it's shame that doubles has to played with bar use, unless I bring some Windex.

It won't fully solve the issue but I find wiping sweat off my face onto my shoe defeats powder, if it gets slippery over time, I suggest bringing a damp rag. Most people already bring a towel so just bring a small rag and the bathroom  is right there. I know it's one more thing, but I find windex makes things slippery as hell.
Just my two cents
When I would play no bar DDR back in the day I would notice the pads would get slippery from dirt and dust build up off of other peoples shoes. I always had a wet paper towel or rag when things got slippery. I just expected it way back in the day. Now days it's pretty common place for any public ITG machine to have powder all over it.
