I liked you all.

My life really sucks now.

It's not fun.

It won't be anymore.

I was kind of looking for an excuse to off myself.
Hey Kevin,

I just sent a personal email to you asking if you're doing ok. We're all hoping you're doing ok.  Please reply to the email or this thread to let us know how you're doing.

Ditto on this. People in the community here really do have each others' interests in mind, and we all have our highs and lows. I feel comfortable sharing a lot of personal experiences with others like Laura/Tuan/etc because they can be nice supportive peeps~

Except Tuan. Wink

Update for everyone: APHR has been in contact with Kevin and he is doing ok.

It's very encouraging to see the community pull for one another, despite our conflicts about dance games.

You've got nothing to be sorry for Cheesy

On another topic, while it's unfortunate we don't have much player control over the pads anymore, I wanted to say that I asked Laura to service a couple arrows, which she did, and they were absolutely great yesterday! So don't feel like you shouldn't go for lack of upkeep, it's been put into great hands. And thanks Laura and Tony for being so diligent!

how do we not have much player control when one of the most regular players is servicing the pads? it seems like an optimal situation, and it ended up employing a community member. i think it's a win/win for everyone. i WISH oregon had a public machine that was serviced by community members ala tilt/avalon (to a lesser degre), but that's really not going to happen at this point in the game's life. cheers to washington for figuring this stuff out Smiley

I worked on the pads this weekend, but guys, the picture in THOT CATALOG's signature is a picture that I took of the inside of the pads at ACME when I went to work on them. That's part of what was wrong. There was so much powder caked on the inside of the pads  all over and under some of the sensors that it was actually affecting arrow sensitivity, and that when I opened them up Tony yelled "IT'S A WINTER WONDERLAND!" (I'm serious, he really did this.)

I'm going to vacuum them out tomorrow, but for the love of god if you use powder DON'T PUT IT DIRECTLY ON THE PADS. Please use the square by the machine that APHR provided. If you guys are being good about it, there won't be more caked on in a week, damaging arrow sensitivity for everyone.

For the record, Chris and Abbye were regs who also started the whole modding phase for the ACME cab.

ACME MAINTENANCE UPDATE!

I finished countersinking all of the "important" parts of the machine today - all of the inner brackets, plus the outer brackets on 1p right and 2p left for doubles players. I intend to countersink the entire machine completely just so that the screws don't come loose over time as people playing jiggles them, but it won't play any differently than it does now when I do that. It's effectively done.

I also vacuumed out the ITG pads. I rag on you guys a lot about baby powder but I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to single out or attack players who use powder or anything (except occasionally in jest, like in my SPERGIN rap,) I just want to make sure it doesn't cause problems for the people playing after the people who use it. I'm willing to bet that the powder buildup was from the sensors not being vacuumed out since before APHR added the designated powder square, because every time I've been to ACME while players who use powder have been there since the square was installed, I've observed that you guys have been really responsible about it.

Another important update: I'm going to be out of town from this upcoming Wednesday to the following Tuesday. If anything catastrophic goes wrong, please message me and I'll see if Tony can get down there for me. For minor issues with sensor responsiveness (IE the machine is still totally playable but you're getting a miss or boo here and there,) please let me know and I'll get to it as soon as I can when I get back (probably Wednesday evening.)

Also, I want to throw something out there, since I'd venture to guess that some of you might have concerns. I take my job as a moderator and now as a tech very seriously, and make a huge effort to separate those things from my personal life. What that means is that even though I might not personally prefer pads that are as flush as the ITG pads at ACME, the majority of you do, so I have no intention of undoing APHR's work. My goal is just to maintain DDR and ITG in the most agreeable possible way for everyone, both because I want to do that and because, okay, let's be honest, I'd be lying if I said that getting paid to work on dance games wasn't kind of awesome, okay? I'm not gonna pretend I'm not a little selfish in that respect. Wink

It looks like APHR locked the thread before deleting his account.
You can feel free to post in Narrow's main thread about the project if you'd like, but since it doesn't have to do with Acme please keep it out of this thread.

Well my original question still stands regardless of the thread.  Just wanna know the process they are  using to mod the pads.  APHR said the pad mod is custom and they didnt follow a guide.

DDR UPDATE/REQUEST:

BLueSS reported difficulty holding freezes on DDR, which is now the second or third time that's been reported. I plan to rotate some sensors as soon as I get back from my trip next week, but I was wondering if you guys could try to play some freeze heavy songs for me this week and let me know which arrows are giving problems? Maybe we could also plan to have a meetup on Thursday night next week after I tweak them so you guys could test and give me feedback? Smiley

Thot Catalog-

Chris was not being passive aggressive about the situation. He believes Laura and Tony will be able to handle everything. They have been in the community a very long time. I wouldn't read between the lines.

you realize he was posting in the narrows thread? so let's examine what exactly went on here.

a few people ask a simple question about mods that pertain to aphr's immediate work at narrows. he declines and directs everyone to ask tony or laura, which doesn't make any sense. they do not have anything to do with the situation at narrows and can only speak for the pads/situation at acme. you can easily interpret this as passive aggressive: tony and laura are obviously not the ones handling the situation at narrows, so any attempt to redirect this to them is unproductive at the very least... especially given the fact that he never responded to the questions that he could immediately answer given the modding state of the 1p side pads.

Yeah whatever though Im not trippin' about him anymore lol

I used some thin foam padding from a craft shop and it helps a bit but the brackets become an issue if I do more than one layer.  Like I dont want them flush but they are pretty worn so the little bit helps.  Kinda want to do the same to the local ddr since its probably been 5-6 years since it was cleaned and the panels are pretty bad.

I'll get home soon and write a little guide here on how Chris and Abbye (and now Nick and I) mod the pads. Seriously, though, everybody quit the annoying fusses and do not try to smart-ass your way into winning an argument. If you believe you were a success or correct, there's no need for anyone to continue arguing.

Just a little note.
