Sometimes just simultaneously pressing the Left and Right buttons adjacent to the Start button will work, but it's rare. I think there is a common issue with the Beta2 build of OpenITG that messes with the default key configuration, since I have a similar discrepancy with my own cab... It's hard to explain though.

Sadly, I think the "easiest" solution would be cutting a couple holes in the front of the cab, adding a couple of those red buttons that you'd typically see on an ITG dedicab and assign it to the Shift key. Then players could easily sort via tapping the Red/Green buttons.

Have you (or the owner) tried patching to OpenITG beta3? I have it on my machine, so I can attest that it works. I don't know if it solves the issue you mentioned, but it could be work checking out.

I've tried patching my own build of Beta2 to 3 in the past.. unsuccessfully. Following the online instructions in the past would just result in OpenITG crashing during launch.

Do you happen to know what updates/fixes are included in the latest patch? I've been able to jerry-rig my way around any significant embedded Beta2 issues on my own up to date.

Honestly, I can't even remember. As you can see from my posts in those threads, this all happened years ago. I just thought I'd mention it. You're probably better off sticking w/ Beta 2 or upgrading to SM5.

I've stopped by three times recently. There was a string of pad issues but the last time I was here it was really, really good pad conditions.

There's some local regulars that don't post online but seem to be there much more often than I'm there. Smiley  This is still a fun spot for a quick dance game fix north of Seattle.

Unfortunately not good news to report on the pad conditions, I come here about once every 2 weeks and my most recent visit (Tuesday) the P1 Down arrow was sticking horribly, to the point where it'd miss 5-6 times in a row. The P2 side is slightly better but had issues with the Right arrow (sticking and not holding on freezes). As a PA tech type player it's quite frustrating and I hope someone can restore this pad to playable conditions as it really is a gem for us in the north end.

Is it sill possible to pass harder songs on the Right side?
It's been a fairly long time since either side has had zero pad issues, and Kenji might be able to maintenance them to some degree, but it might be too far gone consistently Fantastic-Attack here.

If the arrows are sticking (staying "on" even after the foot is no longer on it), then the screws holding the brackets on might be too tight. I'm talking about the sensor brackets, not the arrow-to-platform brackets. Or, use some grease or WD40 to lubricate it a bit better. WD40 is easy, but it'll only last a month or two before you'll have to hit it again. Oh, and DON'T accidentally get that on the pads or they'll be super slippery!

I was here about two weeks ago and had the same problem with the p1 down arrow sticking. I was using the p2 side for the rest of the time and didn't notice any issues but then again, this was a couple of weeks ago so pads may have gotten worse since then.

Some folks in the Facebook buy/sell group recommended anti-seize lubricant over WD40. I picked up this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FW7VGE/

The brackets themselves, if they're chipping, should be cleaned up with a Scotch Brite pad or something first, then apply the lube. That should help reduce the friction.

Just fyi, I'm fairly certain that no one within this forum has permission to perform maintenance on the ITG cab in Another Castle.

From my understanding, Evan (employed mechanic for AC) went through a similar kind of incident to Bill with the cab at Acme.. A handful of people from the area were all doing their own thing with the pads and eventually Evan banned any outside interference unless he's supervising.

I think that's probably likely.  Also, in case anyone is thinking about emailing the arcade's manager, I'd refrain from doing so. He was very defensive about his tech and the amount of maintenance his tech is going to the machine... best to be friendly and give any machine issues to the arcade attendant working at the time. The tech seems to be having quite a back and forth with some of the arrows. I had a string of every-other week visits and it was hit or miss to either be working great or having issues. Still a great place to play on the north side though.

Yeah I'd say it's possible to pass harder songs on the P2 side, as the pad misses would be just every once in a while. P1 side no way, I almost failed a warm up song I usually get 96-97% on all because of the down arrow.

Anyone in the area actively play this? I’m looking to get back into playing DDR and I could use some friends to help me eat back up to speed. The only 10 footers I’ve done so far are Sakura, Bag, and Chaos, and I would like to get better.

Man, I hope there's still people there.  I know that a lot of the hardcore players tend to have their own machines, myself included (though I'm not really hardcore these days).

Playing with other people is great and I'm sure if you just start playing at a location regularly, you'll start meeting other regulars.

The arcade got a pop'n machine: pop'n music 17 THE MOVIE.

I haven't tried it out yet, but I was shocked to see it there.
I think they've updated some pinball machines too (but I don't pay attention to those).

bump as I'm a semi-new player at Another Castle - I usually come on weekday evenings with a friend who doesn't really play (either my roommate or another casual player friend).

I also play the pop'n whenever other people come by and are playing on the ITG machine.

One or two of popn's buttons has started sticking a little bit, which is sad.

One thing I'd suuuper really love would be USB support on the cab, IDK if maintainer or anyone who knows hangs out here.

Anyways! It's me. I use LR and I'm pretty casual, esp. since I play maybe once or twice a month nowadays but I'm around 10-11 ITG difficulty level.

Welcome to the community!  I used to be acquainted with one of the maintainers, but I'm not sure they're doing it (or around) anymore...

Ask in the Discord as well, just in case they're hanging out there.

Another Castle just reopened on the 1st with the WA state reopening.

The machine has not been touched/updated software wise in some time. It's still a SM converted cab with Simply Love theme, and the freezing that sometimes happens between sets, even if you put quarters in.

The default noteskin is a bar (not arrow) noteskin so I reported it.

The tech "Rob" will be in on Monday, and so the front-desk said they'd let him know. The sensors were surprisingly in really good shape for how much care this machine normally gets. Fully playable on Doubles.  They also raised the price to $0.75, but that's fine.

Good to hear. I loved visiting that place - though the last time I did was years ago.
