Basically, a 1-pager "how to get from credit to playing" is a great place to start. If we have more room after that, we can talk about e-amuse or unlocks.

For IIDX, the main unlock events have ended (Qpronicle Chord ended on 7/28), and the only unlockables (that I'm aware of) are via the Secret Expert courses and from playing other games.

Oh my god the DM sound levels are perfect now. Thank you Kevin for adjusting it. I can actually pass a few 6.8's I was working since I can hear the song for once. This is amazing!

I was attempting to explain the Floating Hi-Speed setting to someone yesterday (don't know if they post here or not), and I completely forgot that it has to be activated with the Effect button while showing the Hi-Speed list. Whoops.

One miscellaneous thing I spotted while wandering around a bit: It appears the kiosks don't allow purchases more than $20 with a credit card...and this prevents putting $20 on a new card at a kiosk (as the new card itself is $1). Saw someone trying to do this at a kiosk and getting confused about it (do they actually say that there's a limit to kiosk credit card transactions?).

You should add money to your card at the desk rather than through the kiosks, if you're going to add more than $10 at a time, so you can get your purchase stamp marked off on the back of the card.

Also you don't get the club card discount at any of the kiosks.

I like to add $30 at a time, so that eliminates the kiosks as an option (and besides, they were down the last time I reloaded my card).

Does anyone know what the heck Fricos are for on IIDX? I've tried searching but haven't come up with anything. I think I'm up to about 33000 or so of them now Tongue.

Yes.  Let me find the right links to explain this properly.

I assume you've already registered your E-amuse card online with Konami, so you're capable of logging in at http://p.eagate.573.jp/ via the red button near the top right.

Here's the link to the IIDX 22 e-amuse area:   http://p.eagate.573.jp/game/2dx/22/p/index.html

Just under the eight silver buttons ("Information", "How To Play", etc) there should be two boxes, one box under each set of four buttons.  The left box represents your E-amuse account, and the right box represents your Beatmania IIDX 22 'character'.  If you click on the right box, it should display some information about your IIDX 22 account.  (You don't have to do this.)

If you mouse-over the eighth silver button, the 2nd through 6th menu choices will take you to lists of stuff you can buy to alter how your IIDX 22 avatar looks.

2nd = Head (Things worn on head)
3rd = Hairstyle
4th = Face
5th = Body (outfits you can wear)
6th = Hand (things your character can hold)

If you have enough Frico to buy a particular item, there will be a button under the price of the item.  If you don't, there will be some text saying that you don't have enough.

Once you've done all the purchasing you feel like doing, pick the first choice under the 7th silver button (the button says 'Customize' in katakana).  You will see your character at the top of the screen.  There are five buttons under him, which are in the same order as the menu choices you followed to buy things:  Head, Hairstyle, Face, Body, Hand.  If you click on one, it will take you to a page that shows the items you've purchased of that type.  There will also be a choice that says 'no image...' which represents the default item a new avatar uses in that slot.  Click on the black button under the item you want to wear.  You can only wear one item of each type.  The white/silver button at the bottom of the item list will take you back to the previous screen, where your avatar image should now reflect any changes you have made, and you'll also see them the next time you play.

The fields at the bottom are for canned text that you want the game to show at certain points.  The first one is used for your character status, internet rankings, and such.  30 character limit (in Japanese, hard to say how many English characters it'll take).  The other two (10 character limit each) are comments for your rivals for an Easy match or a Hard match.  If you change any of these, you'll want to click on the corresponding black button afterwards.  I didn't bother.

Thanks to whoever put that box fan in front of pump it up! Seems like the 1p green start button on prime isn't working right now.

Noticed today that both IIDX machines have headphone jacks. Right above the swipe card reader.

Apparently some Round1s in California are getting a location test for CrossXBeats Rev, the Naoki Capcom music game.  It'll be sweet if the Seattle location somehow gets it.

Apparently it's not a location test but an actual installation. Of course we'll have more info when they get loaded up.

Anyone else have issues with the stamps being worn off the card in a hurry? I've lost one stamp because of that, and I'm pretty sure the stamp in the 3 spot is about to disappear for the same reason (the second time a stamp was put in the 2 spot, I think the guy used a Sharpie for some reason, so that hasn't worn off).

Yeah the stamp system is silly and they didn't really think it through.  Who's to keep me from just "stamping" my own card by using a permanent marker?

I'm silver level now so instead of spending $29 for 150 points I only have to spend $28.75 now! (whee)

R1's twitter says SDVX Generator is coming this week - anyone know if it's already there?

I didn't notice anything new there today, and played two games of Sound Voltex.

I Googled SDVX Generator...there'd definitely be a noticeable difference if it was there, as it looks like a huge addon to the game.

That said...what in the hell IS it?

It appears to generate physical versions of the avatar cards.  As in, it prints them out and you can take them home with you.  Not really sure that's worth what appears to be a doubled play cost... based on the info I see online.

When you buy packs for generator (with extra credits) very, very rarely you'll get special cards that can be your navigator (replace Rasis in game UI) or support you in boss battles.

Are the cards used for eamusement, or are they just collectible cards?

Collectible.

On another note, I posted an explanation of the current Touhou event:

That 'generator' is installed at Round One.  It's only connected to the left machine, however.  Found that if I wanted to play and didn't care about the generator, the right machine was usually open.  But some people were lined up to play the left one last night.

You don't have to use the generator if you play on the left machine, but if you want to, it does cost two credits instead of one.
