Hmmmm, there's a chance I (and Dan) might come to Gameworks tonight instead of Acme. Great news about the 5 song limit on SN.

I'm gonna be there around 7ish.

I need to play Extreme again, I love it so much more than SN.

Yeah, I have to give the Extreme's pads a thumb down. The 2P Down got stuck on my first song and would NOT get unstuck no matter what.

On the left side, I was getting quite a few pad misses, mostly from "sticky" arrows. If you're a lighter player (which many of you are) it'll be less of a problem than it was for me.

On the plus side, SuperNova was A-OK.

Yeah I agree they could be better. but keep in mind that this machine hasn't been turned on since March, let alone worked in over a year. So I say they are good enough for right now. At least the 1P side is.

Update on machine conditions

DDR SuperNova: A-Ok

Pop'n Music: A-Ok

Drummania/GuiterFreaks: A-Ok

DDR Extreme: 1P side still AAA possible.
Speakers are BLARING on this machine! So much so, that they actually should probably be turned down just slightly, or at least the bass should.
Unlock codes have been put in, so the machine has all courses and songs available. Also the price has been reduced to 4.5 credits (3.6 if you have a VIP card)

If you have a VIP card. Extreme is worth it. 3.6 credits translates to a little over 75 cents.

Dance  Maniax: in working order. Still the cheapest music game there.

Yeah, I just went today and Extreme worked fine for me. Granted, I'm not great anymore, but I managed to BS all the runs in PSMO with heel toeing on the 1p side so I guess it's good. Pop'n is okay, although I was having a few issues with the 7 button today. DM works like a charm as always.

Yeah fuck that 7 button.  Sometimes unresponsive, cost me a 100k on high speed love song Sad

SN when I tried to play double was terrible.  Single was okay.  Extreme 1P was great.  2P not so much.

Wow they actually fixed the Extreme a little bit if you say it's great. Anyone know the condition of DDR X?

Yeah, the 1P side of DDR Extreme is excellent. The only problem I have now is the monitor on that cabinet. It looks disgusting.

As for X, it's still broken as hell.

Report:

X - 1P is "ok", 2P's Left arrow continually sticks and is unplayable. Tech tried to fix it, and it still was messing up. UNLOCKED: Code 1, Code 2. Pads prevented unlocking 3, 4.

Supernova - 1P is ok, up and right a little dirty. 2P pretty dirty on L, U, R

Extreme - 1P AWESOME, 2P needs a little cleaning, but still good. Monitor SUCKS like Kevin said.

Also, I was playing the fighting game next to BlazBlue for the first time (trying to learn it) and some guy sits down and swipes his card. I tell him I'm trying to learn and would like to play by myself, but he said "well I want to play too" and hits his start button to force verses. I was pretty ticked at him, and so I played him both rounds of the game. I beat him BOTH TIMES. Needless to say he QUICKLY left and didn't turn around to see me grinning at him. haha It was great.

Why you guys playing the hell out of DDR at gameworks and not ITG anymore anyway. They're fun to play but the songs are really mediocre at best and the charts are easy unless you just like bar raping 8s and 9s for AAAs or not bar raping them for no workout at all. I don't like to think of myself as an "ITG fanboy" but its basically a better game all around and people seem to be playing less and less... And Bill actually maintains his pads too Tongue

ITG has become one long endurance run that is no longer attractive to me. That's not to say it's a bad game, because it isn't by a long shot. It's just that my interest in it has dropped. A LOT. I starred pandemonium over my winter break and realized "wow. . . .I'm no longer having fun with this game, it's become a chore to me." Games should NEVER become a chore in my opinion.
This is the one reason why quite a few players are leaving ITG, is because it has become elitist. If you can't *** 15 footers, your not considered good anymore. Which is complete BS.

what I find the most amazing is that I always thought I'd just play ITG and never go back to DDR. Here I am proving myself wrong.

But you still are. Smiley Not that it's bad, but lots of us still like playing DDR instead of ITG. Better songs, better doubles charts. And since song preference will always be up to the player's preference, that's why we have both games.

You fund ITG, and each of us can fund the ones we like to play. Smiley If all of my dollars could go to Bill, I'd highly prefer that. I go to Gameworks (very occasionally) because I still have my card from the switchover in points, and it's more convenient for my location.

I was a huge DDR fanboy back-in-the-day, and I realize now that I was kind of just acting like an idiot. However, I remember making a lot of posts about what Keby just said and everyone practically called me an asshat.

[BEGIN RANT]

This was in early '07 and I saw people entering the game who went straight toward Pandemonium expert and ignored what I considered to be the most basic fundamentals of dance games. They were relying almost entirely on the bar, youthful energy, and excessive amounts of stamina to plow through 12's and 13's with the most god-awful form and technique I've ever seen.

Since then, I've conceded that ITG is the superior machine and game engine, but I can't say that it's created the most likable players. Those who  play exclusively ITG do seem to have a very elitist, almost asshole-like air around them.

They fail to see AAA's as viable achievements worth praise. This is ridiculous, because most ITG players I know can barely get a handful of AAAs on any version of DDR (Gerrak, is a welcome exception to this).

I love some ITG customs like Tricky Disco and Lucky, but most custom charts are just 1/16th note runs, and that is way more boring than any 8 step on DDR.

[END RANT]

No, I was saying that I came across as an asshat years back. I was too anti-ITG, which was certainly not a popular stance to have in '07.

Ironically, I now own a ITG2 dedicab. lol.

Haha ah ok. Yeah, that is probably the ultimate irony.
I don't know, I still like ITG for the challenge it provides, it's just DDR's songs are just so much more fun to play.
In other words. I FUCKIN love Eurobeat. There, I admit it.

ddr provides me with a good warm up for itg, because I like to no-bar ddr songs and its fun. I like both games as they are. Really the only thing I hated about itg was the MINES! haha

You should all just quit music games and play TGM. It's much better. Tongue

Well, drummania is pretty close though...
