Haven't been here in a long time -

This is non-Bemani related -  but could someone post if Super SFIV  or  KOF XIII has shown up at Gameworks?

Thanks.

i was there this past weekend...no ssfiv or kofxiii that i saw...they moved the fighting games upstairs and put the ticket/prize games downstairs...all the ddr is in that one enclosed room by the main entrance...interestingly enough, taiko, drummania and guitarfreaks are upstairs...

sn2's pad was fine...didn't bother checking extreme/usa/sn1.

the asinine pad(s) that is ddr x is worse than ever...down and left arrow weren't responding at all.  trying to do the the gallop parts of geisha's dream is pretty funny when trying to slam your feet down on the pads like i was trying to do. glad someone left a free game for me to play...wasn't gonna spend my 25 dollar coupon on that.

The new card game at Gameworks Sangokushi Taisen is really awesome and fun to play!

You have to buy a starter deck for $6 at the main counter, but then you slide cards around on a table to play a basic RTS with rock-paper-scissor like strategy. It's easy to learn as Gameworks' machines have tutorials in English, but it's not for casual gamers.

Each time you play it will give you a new random card which is a new army you can fight with.

So yeah, check it out! Tongue

I'll most likely be stopping in here after Comicon on Saturday to play broken Taiko and the Pop'n Music machine that REALLY needs a new switch or two. If any of you find yourself doing something similar, I will in all probability be wearing an orange PaRappa hat. Feel free to say hi!

I was just there on Monday.

Taiko had newer sticks (not broken) and was fairly responsive on 2P side.
Supernova 2 was AMAZING pad wise.
SN and Extreme both had issues on 2P side.

Hey, there is a ddrx2 machine at gameworks now. Timing is a little different but not hard to get used to. It is 2 dollars to play however, so I'd suggest only playing with a time card. Also the left arrow on the 1p side began to stick after several sets, which kinda makes me wonder about the durability of these pads, since it was apparently installed only yesterday.

I'm in complete shock about this. So is this replacing DDR X or is it still there?

Wow, nice!

But I'm hesitant; is this a new machine? An upgrade to the X cabinet (which was a piece of crap)?
Did they remove a game to put this in?  (I'm fine if it's DDR USA)

No, all the other machines are there including the ddrx machine. The machine design is really similar to the x cabinet, but aside from one of the panels sticking I was actually really happy with how well you could time, and the pads themselves are really sensitive. I'm not sure why but they lowered the bars about 6 inches on this machine, which isn't too big of a deal unless you're really tall.

Just got back from there. Holy crap its awesome. Pads are very good and it only took me about a couple of songs to get adjusted to the timing. Hell, I was able to get the If You Were Here remix as my 2nd song. Also, I was able to get Kimono Princess as the ES on Expert, proceeded to AA and get Roppongi Evolved ver. B, which I failed at the slow down because I'm stupid and forgot where it all splits into the different versions. But yea, pads are really good again.

Since I work across the street from Gameworks, I might check this out next week during lunch. I'll try to get someone to take a picture of me playing using the bars, just for the lolz.

QUICK REVIEW:

DDR X2:

Pads: Work just fine!!!

Game: Interface is like a mix of new and old. Basically 4th mix in 2011

THERE IS A BIT OF LAG, but it's easy to adjust to.

Song list: Best in years honestly. A nice mix of new well known licenses and songs that have the soul of the 3rd mix days.
-Also has quite a lot of songs from older mixes.

Mods: Plenty. Speed mods go up in increments of .5

Bar: is shorter for some reason. Actually found it easier to play no bar unless your 5'7

Overall: Pretty darn good. I am pleased for a quick impression. Not sure I'm going to keep coming back for it, but I am genuinely surprised at this game. I thought it was going to be a bomb like DDR X all over again.

Also
VOLUME IS UNBEARABLY LOW. CAN'T HEAR A THING

I figured I'd comment in this thread.

I played on... I dunno, Wednesday maybe?  Last week.

To me, the pads feel almost identical to the X cab.  The overall lag is the same, just the typical HD lag just like X was.  Is the cabinet really all that different?  Of course, I never really had a problem with X (back when the pads worked, anyway).  The bar is pretty short.  It's shorter than other DDR games.

What's going to happen is the same as what happens with every new dancing game -- it comes out and everyone thinks it's the best thing ever, then since it's gameworks, the pads will start to go bad and then it's the worst game ever.  But I digress.

Songlist appeals to me since it has IIDX songs and I'm a IIDX player.  More importantly, the charts.  I like both DDR and ITG style charts, and X2 really kinda finds a happy medium in it.  The charts are, for the majority of the songs I played, very very fun.  There's songs like second heaven challenge (14 = easy 10 / very hard 9 in old DDR mix ratings) that have 16th note based rhythms, and then you have simpler charts for the -- guess what -- the licenses that should appeal to the less hardcore crowd.  It's a good game.  I can't wait for unlocks for some more IIDX songs.

By the way kevin (gorrum) why are you so good at kimono princess.  It was like, way better than your scores on other songs, haha.

I have no idea. I really love the song and the chart haha. Think its my most played song since I'm trying to whore out Roppongi too.

I just got done playing a few sets over my lunch break. WOW! I'm hooked! I'll definitely be coming back to play this. Too bad the bars have been reduced to the optimal height of an 8 year old. Also, the HD lag was REALLY screwing with my timing. I had to turn Targets off just to get my scores up into the 97+ range, which is still pretty pathetic for me.

Btw, I played on the 1P side and the pad acted flawlessly. Can't wait to play this again!

P.S. Where can I get the info on the $10 Thursday night specials at GameWorks?

P.P.S. I was playing with a guy who accidentally chose the Easy Mode or whatever on the first selection screen. We ended up having to play all our songs on Beginner/Easy difficulty. Is there some secret way of escaping out of this mode to play a harder difficulty? And no, holding down the select button doesn't bring up the options menu.
