- ORIGINAL POST -
Tony and I were recently discussing the depressing state of the local Bemani community, IE: very few people go to arcades anymore and there are no big meetups/events. Both of us miss the days when you could go to an arcade on a Friday or Saturday night and expect to, you know, see people.
So I decided to take it upon myself to see if I could arrange such a meetup; I'd like to get a big group to go to ACME/Gameworks on Friday or Saturday night for a few hours, and then maybe to Cheesecake Factory (now near ACME as well as Gameworks!) Anyone interested? Which night works best for you?
Edit> Changed topic to reflect what's actually been going on in the thread. Looks like people will be at gameworks tomorrow night. I'll probably get there around 6.
Edit again> Looks like this is going down NEXT week.

I'll be up in Seattle for Sakuracon. Hopefully theres a decent BEMANI scene at the con this year. I go up more on the weekends, but a.) my friends don't like BEMANI stuff as much as I do, b.) gas is WAYYY too expensive right now.

Probably no dice there - I think a lot of us are still underage, and thus drinking is out of the question. Though I guess 21+ can get all the drinks they want at ACME.

eh we dont have to drink just a suggestion. and actually i think gameworks sounds better. its fuckin expensive but oh well. its in seattle center and theres all kinds of shit to do around there so theres no way i can get bored. but damn only if the extreme machine wasnt garbage. i havent been there in a while but im pretty sure its garbage still

That is true. GW is a much better location for finding stuff around the area to do. Plus it has Taiko. Plus, if we get bored we can all hike to the waterfront or something for Pump. Though we'd probably be too tired to actually play Pump after that.
@ Jon: Homework/finals again? :<

I don't know why everyone says gw is expensive because you can pay $25 and get a card worth $45? Sounds like a deal here.
Anyway I can't make it. Got not one but two exams on Saturday, lol. :< I'm going Saturday though.

I'm itchin' to take a nice, multi-hour drive.. I haven't partaken in one in a while.
But alas, this weekend is St. Patty's weekend, which I will be celebrating locally.

@Laura: Friday - going to symphony with uncle and dad, saturday - Explosion Basketball games... for like 12 weeks. My bro owns a semi-pro basketball team and I "get" to help setup and do audio/video at every game. All saturdays, so I'm busy from like 2pm-12am Saturdays until the season is over.

I don't see a problem with changing it to next Friday if everyone else is game. That would give everyone a week to get as many people together as possible.

When you factor in extras like parking (and in my case, extra driving cost, since I stop by my parents house once a week and Acme's on the way), the savings on a $25 card start to diminish a little.
