- ORIGINAL POST -
Hello, I have proposed this rotation in the past and it has generally been regarded as a good idea, but I feel like perhaps I should propose it with more gravity via a poll on these forums to truly decide! So here is the motivation:
I'm sure some of us would agree that DDR Supernova 2, while a great game, is missing many of our favorite older songs from DDR, and doesn't have quite as many options in terms of nonstop courses, etc. Acme Bowl also already has 2 very modern dance games, ITG and PUI. I have spoken with many local people who claim that their favorite machine for DDR is Extreme. Besides the difference in songs, the only real inhibition I can see to changing Supernova 2 at Acme to Extreme is the notion of a 'downgrade' in machines for newer players, though I feel that with the better selection of songs and better interface (in my opinion), the difference would be negligible, and more regular players would presumably use it more and thus it would overall see more use. Now, I assume Acme would be neutral to a change if it was with the intent of drawing more play and whence business for Acme Bowl in general, which Bill would have to confirm, but if all that was ok, consider the following:
Acme Bowl has a Supernova 2 machine. Narrows Bowl has a Supernova 1 machine. Daffodil Bowl has a (perfect) DDR Extreme machine, all owned by Masterman Vending. With in mind these arcades and how the following change would potentially increase the allure of all three locations,
I propose that Masterman Vending rotate these machines, such that we now have DDR Extreme at Acme instead of Supernova 2, and change the Extreme machine at Daffodil to Supernova, and the Supernova machine at Narrows to Supernova 2
. I postulate that Extreme at Acme would get much more play than SN2 from Acme's player base, and these other locations may even benefit from an 'upgrade', given that they have mostly more random players in their base anyway. And if it needed simplification, we could just switch Daffodil and Acme's machines, but the rotation seemed to me better for business (and play), since Narrows is a more frequented arcade.
All this postulating is useless however, so that's why we have a poll! Please,
if you do play or would play DDR at Acme (or any other of these locations)
(so don't vote 'yes' or 'no' if you won't really play DDR there please, as to avoid skewing of the numbers...), please cast your vote in favor of or against such a change. If a preferable one, we can bring it to Masterman Vending in hopes it can work out. Also, feel free to include any particularly strong opinions on the matter by replying to the post! You can change your votes and we can have a discussion out of it or whatever. Anyway thanks for your input!

How much would this cost Bill to implement in terms of tech time/labor?
For consideration:
SN2 has 355 songs.
[Full Song List]
Extreme has 238 songs.
[Full Song List]
Also for consideration: Acme's ITG Machine has
probably all of
the songs from DDR Extreme on its machine. ITG has the DDR song packs through Extreme installed on it, including Korean mixes. I played old DDR songs on both of my ITG sets this week, and enjoyed it; and played some songs on Supernova that I couldn't if it was back to Extreme.
So why would we want to remove songs that we don't have (Supernova 1 & 2 files) to duplicate files we already have on another machine in the same arcade?

I like the idea, but there is something everyone should know. There is a big suprise coming, already bought and paid for, for the SN2 cab at Acme. I will let Laura tell you what it is, so we can stir some excitement, LOL's. Anyhow, SN2 is about to be updated. :-)

Hey guys!
So my friend TheCat88 over on the East Coast hooked us up with a Bemani PC that can run new versions of DDR! Right now, it'll be running DDR X3, but if we can find some e-amuse readers it also comes ready to run DDR 2013 and 2014 (they're pretty useless mixes without e-amuse support.)
Hudson is gonna help install it, and I think we also decided we're going to countersink the screws in the DDR machine.
BTW, officially a DDR player from now on. Y'all can have your beast.

I did consider this, however we can just as easily put SN and SN2 on the ITG machine also. Also 180 of those SN2 songs are from SN1 and 2, approximately 170 of which are garbage (in my opinion...)
But in any case, I locked the poll because

And it sounds like a plenty exciting change! Thanks Bill!

This seems very interesting and I am looking forward to trying it out.
There is one concern for me however. Are we going to keep the ITG machine and the DDR machine in the same location? Now that the DDR machine had its volume increased, I find that when both machines are running at the same time, it is just a mess of noise and both machines can't truly hear the song that is playing. Would there be a possibility that we move the ITG/DDR machine where the PUI was?

Wooo!
X3 has 507 songs for anyone curious how it compares.

And while DDR would suck in the far back corner, can it swap sides maybe with the pop-a-shots? I agree that back to back definitely isn't very desirable.

First new sensors for ITG and now X3. Boy oh boy is that awesome.
I see the poll at the top but i'm unsure how to vote?

I wish they could exchange with the Basketballs. But take a look at how far they would stick out. Remember, the wall goes back further just to the left of DDR. It would probably have to hit the back corner, sorry to say.

I haven't really had any trouble playing on the PIU machine while it was located in the back corner, so moving the upgraded DDR machine there sounds fine to me.

Why don't we just put all the DDR songs on the ITG machine!
Also wow, that is cool news that ACME may be getting an X3 setup!

Why don't we just swap all the arcade machines at ACME for all of the rhythm games in the area lol

This is a long shot, but is it maybe okay to move the DDR machine over to the left of the huge claw machine? I know that ITG can never be placed back there due to the noise, but DDR doesn't seem as loud, and it still unfortunately gets drowned out by ITG, so I assume that we may have a better shot with bringing the DDR over to that spot.

If an X2+ version happens to show up, it might be time to spend more time at Acme again.

Bill, I'm totally down for getting card readers if you are - then we can run DDR 2013 or DDR 2014. That sounds like a really good price, actually.

Does the machine need Internet access for the card readers to work? If so, is there another network port in the back corner of the arcade?

Yes it will need its own router too. I can give contact info to anybody. They are 250+ shipping from japan which will be roughly 75. They are the gfdm style readers with box. I think he has 2 touch readers also but you would need to provide the housing for them iirc.

I think it's more like PM Bill with the details please, since it's up to him whether he wants to spring for the readers/2013 just yet.
